PROTECTION ASSISTANCE AND REINTEGRATION CENTER (PARC) IN CAMP & NONCAMP AREAS/ UNHCR PROGRAM





PARC Protection and Community service teams monitored the newly arrived refugees from
Kobane in Ibrahim Khalil throughout the week to monitor and to assess their needs.
PARC conducted 1visit to Duhok-Shele for 7 SAS families/30 individuals to assess their
vulnerable needs.
PARC conducted 4 Participatory Assessment focus group discussions for SAS in urban areas
to identify their main issues and the solutions that will be suggested by the community
itself.
Providing SAS from camp and non-camp areas with legal assistance by PARC lawyers; (3)
received cases, (3) resolved case and (5) legal advice cases.
The total clients/cases received by HAIKAR-WLCs in Domiz, Gawilan and Bajid Kandala
camps were (207), (46) cases of them were GBV cases while the other (161) cases were
NON-GBV

HARIKAR WOMAN LISTENING CENTERS AT DOMIZ AND GAWILAN CAMPS (WLCs)
*The total clients/cases received by HAIKAR-WLC/Domiz, Gawelan and Bajid-kandala camps were (207), (46)
cases of them were GBV cases while the other (161) cases were NON-GBV, as following:

Other activities by Harikar-NGO
 In Domiz Camp SAS:

The WLC-Domiz camp conducted First Aid training to Syrian refugees.
The WLC-Domiz camp case worker took a GBV case to Asaysh.
The WLC-Domiz camp case worker took a GBV case to DTCVAW.
The WLC-Domiz camp case worker participated in two days case management training
conducted by IRC in Jian hotel.
 In Gawilan Camp SAS:

Two community mobilizations have been done in this week under the supervision of field
assistant.
3 case have been closed
27 books have been borrowed
Gawilan/WLC conducted "first aid" training for 15 refugee women.
 In Bajid-Kandala Camp for IDPs/WLC:

GBV staff gave a seminar to a group of women about the traditions and norms prevailing in the
Yezidi tribes and compares it with Islamic law and Iraqi law,
1 new GBV cases has been Identified.
GBV staff attended the camp organizations meeting in order of more cooperation with other
agencies.
GBV group has cooperated with the Dohuk emergency hospital and local authority for managing
a case.
GBV staff had a meeting with the IOM Psychological staff for more cooperation between our
agencies.
GBV staff made a meeting with the ACTED for managing a case.
Legal Social Center

LSC in Domiz camp presented 50 services (21 of them were Social services while the other 29 were Legal). The
legal services contained 9 representations and 20 consultations, in which the center's lawyer attended Sumel
and Duhok court for representing the cases. It is significant to mention that an awareness session has been
presented by the Project Manager on topics related to (The foundations of building the family) and number
of books has been distributed on the attendance.
Legal Social Center for IDPs in Sharya

Four cases referred to Kirkuk center which suffered from psychological disorders.
A GBV case was received; the case had a session then referred to Kirkuk center to get help for her
psychological problem.
Two cases had sessions which were uncomfortable since displacement.
Five cases represented by the lawyer in Duhok court for obtaining four birth certificates and one
marriage certificate.
Ten consultation cases were received for obtaining identification documents.
A seminar was conducted for 15 women about domestic violence in Sharya camp.

Child Friendly Space
Child Friendly Space could enroll a number of children and youth from Domiz Camp in the various activities
and lectures of the week such as: awareness session were conducted to the families about how to deal with
children, dance, listening short stories, painting, and first aids program for parents, music, sports, art crafts,
flexibility with the parents. Children who participated and attended the activities were 792 children between
the ages of (4-17). The purpose form the activities was to fill the spare time the children have and those
activities were held in Kulilk and Nergiz centers at Domiz Camp.

Child Friendly Space in Shariya Camp








Mobile Child Friendly Space was always in attendance with IDPs children in schools of Duhok and
Zakho.
After moving Duhok schools to Shariya Mobile CFS have accompanied them to Shariya Camp.
In coordination with Save the Children funded By UNICEF a CFS in Shariya has been established.
Community Mobilization and Awareness raising activities are continues.
500 Leaflets have been distributed to IDPs families About “How to deal with children in crises
periods and general information about CFS”.
Various types of activities are being done for children in daily bases (5 days a week): Music, Drama,
Drawing, etc.
Please note the numbers of children registered and attendance in Sharia CFS in the table below.
The total number of children registered in CFS and YFS from age 3-18 is 226, while the total number
of attendees to CFS and YFS from age 3-18 is 501.

Cash Assistance Program for Syrian Refugees
Tasks:

 (68) Beneficiaries from Summel and Duhok have been called to get their cheques on Wednesday 24
of December 2014.

 (67) Beneficiaries from Summel and Duhok have received their cheques on Wednesday 24 of
December 2014.
 (143) approved cases are reviewed, mistakes amended and doubled checked for Memo 7.

 (79) Beneficiaries from Summel and Duhok have been called to get their cash on Sunday 28 of
December 2014.
Challenges:
 Hundreds of Syrian refugees who are not assessed yet have come down to Harikar NGO during this
week. They all have complained about halting the process of assessment and they have asked the CA
team to register them. These refugees were mostly from Waar City. They insisted on getting cash
assistance this year and they pushed the CA team very hard to assess them during this year.
Notes:
 The memo 7 will be completed next Sunday.
 The assessment has been halted this week.

CAMP MONITORING
- Camp monitors did their monitoring in (Khanke, Bajid Kandala and Garmawa) through using ODK
software (Referral and Tracing) and directly their reports sent to UNHCR server.

95 cases were referred to UNHCR protection server via ODK soft directly through Smart phones (34
from non-camp – 8 from Khanke camp – 5 from Garmawa camp).

Our camp monitors had attended a training in Bajid Kandala camp in 22nd Dec2014 about the fire
safety for 1 day.

Harikar non-camp staff attended a meeting at UNHCR Domiz camp office in 24 Dec 2014 to discuss
some issues about protection reporting, eviction, cash assistance.
