You help me a lot in your McIvor Hardware store
With hardware, paint, tools, and more
Your hardware store is the best in town,
And it certainly deserve Fremont's Crown
You help the Animals and Plants
You even help the tiny Ants
You also help the Bushes and Trees
But you don't help the stinging bees
You always help the Earth
You've been like that since your birth
I hope I will be like you some day
And help save the San Francisco Bay
Top 10 Home Maintenance To Do List
How about those New Year's Resolutions? Was home maintenance one of your priorities for
this year? Why not combine your home maintenance and your New year's resolutions for
some fun and helpful things you CAN get done this year!
We've counted them down for you here:
Item 10: Make sure your sump pump is working before the next round of rains (reduce the
chance of mold growing and keep away mold spores)
Item 9: Change the furnace filter (your house breathes better and so do you)
Item 8: Take down Christmas lights before Valentine's Day (Your lights will last longer and
you can feel good about not creating extra waste for the landfill)
Item 7: Fertilize the lawn before it dies (studies show that we are happier people when
we nurture things to grow)
Item 6: Check your battery on your smoke alarm (sleep better knowing you have helped
ensure your safety)
Item 5: Clean your gutters (Routing water away from the house can keep your foundation
sturdy)
Item 4: Clean & oil bathroom fans (your ears will be relieved and your fan will last years
longer)
Item 3: Clean cooling coils on the refrigerator (your refrigerator works more efficiently
and you feel there is distinctly less mystery smell coming from that area of the house)
Item 2: Buy a rake to keep the leaves cleaned up (wet leaves can be slippery, you can
more confidently & safely walk around the outside of your house)
Item 1: Provide seed or nectar to help feed our feathered friends (birds help keep bugs
and spider populations in check and that is just an all around feel good thing to do, see
item 7)
Al's Corner: Learn about fixing those pesky sheetrock holes! If your using these cold
months to get some repairs and painting done for your walls, you'll want to watch Al's
Corner. Guest speaker Wally Smith explain's how to spackle small holes, repair, tape and
use joint compound on larger holes.

Note: If your ever stumped on a Do It Yourself project, just take a picture with your camera or phone and
bring it into the the store. Most of the time we can help you figure out what you'll need to do to get your
project finished!

Daffodils are blooming all around Mission San Jose!
It is not a coincidence that we have daffodils sprouting all over Mission San Jose.
Thanks to Andrew DeLorey Vice President of the MSJ Chamber of Commerce for
germinating that idea.
The MSJ Chamber of Commerce, Saint Joseph's Men's Club, the boy scouts and
local residents have been hard at work planting them as part of a neighborhood
beautification project.
Over 2,000 bulbs have been planted so far, so now is your chance to see if you can
spot all the places the daffodils are blooming!
What's Happening in Mission San Jose?
Back by popular demand, here is a list of everything going on in Mission San Jose for the next 4 weeks.
Smith Center at Ohlone College will feature Pianist Gwendolyn Mok on Feb 9 and the Piano Duo Anderson &
Roe on Feb 24. Mission Coffee's will have The Pam & Jeri show on Feb 9, their once a month Open Mic on
Feb 15, and Folk Music Jam session on Feb 17. Broadway West Theater is now showing Laundry & Bourbon
and Lone Star through Feb 16. Mission Pizza has live music every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night and
Feb 1 features Cowboy Bill & the Sierra Travelers, Most weekends you can catch the Mill Creek Ramblers &
Friends for a Jam Session, Feb 9 see the ONs, Feb 15 Autumn & the Fall Guys will perform, Feb 22 come
hear Prairie and Feb 23 Beargrass Creek will be in house. Olive Hyde Gallery is currently presenting an
exhibit of Matt Ritchie's work through Feb 2, followed by Women's Figurative Art starting Feb 15.
