2016 TOURS
The Canadian Cowboys Association is proud to announce two
rodeo tours this year! Each tour will consist of 15 rodeos and the
winners of each Tour in each of the 7 major events will earn the
11th and 12th qualifying spots to the CCA Finals in Swift Current
this October. The ground rules and a list of the rodeos included
in the Tours can be found below...
RULES
1. Contestants must compete in 12 out of 15 rodeos from the
tour (East or West) in their event to be eligible for a qualifying
spot at the CCA Finals.
2. A contestant cannot use tour rodeos from the east tour to
count towards the west tour or rodeos from the west tour to
count for the east tour.
3. If the contestant is already qualified within the top ten standings
of their event, then the next eligible contestant outside the top
ten in the tour standings will be awarded the finals qualification
through the tour.
4. If a contestant happens to be the qualifying contestant from
both tours the tour in which they earned the highest point
total in will be the tour they qualify to the finals through. If
the contestant earned the same amount of points in each tour
then the tour in which they earned the most money in will
determine the tour they qualify through (east or west).
5. In the case of a tie for points within the tour standings, the
finals qualification will be awarded to the contestant with the
highest money earnings in the CCA Standings.
6. Points will be awarded from 1st to 5th at each of the tour
rodeos regardless of money added or placings paid. The point
structure will be as follows: 1st= 50 points, 2nd=40, 3rd= 30,
4th= 20, 5th=10.
7. Points will only be awarded when there is a placing paid out
(no ground splits). Placings resulting in a tie at tour rodeos
will result in points being divided in the same manner as the
payouts for a tie at cca sanctioned rodeos.

A Letter to the CCA
C.C.A.
n 1963 about March, Alvin Dunford notified every cowboy that was at Lancer in
1962. He wanted to start an association that would protect the cowboy. It was
well attended. The meeting took most of the day arriving at the name of S.A.R.C.A.
(Saskatchewan Amateur Rodeo Cowboys Association). Later we changed it to
C.A.C.A. (Canadian Amateur Cowboys Association). Then to CCA. This was a
big improvement over what we had making it easier for contractors and cowboys
alike. At times I worked two rodeos in the same day because we had secretaries
that would and could work with us. One time I was rodeoing in Manitoba when
Clearwater Lake was on. Someone entered me in Clearwater Lake. I drew “My
Pale” in the Bareback, “Red Top” in the Broncs and “12” in the Bulls and didn’t
even know it. Myers was not happy and I was black listed. This kind of stuff
stopped. The Association made for better rodeos and more of them.
I thought I had better surface and go to the meeting in Regina and maybe see the
cowboys up there. They surprised me with a new “Gold Card” because I was
among the first to receive a Gold Card which was paper back then. I am sure
Carl Barrett had something to do with it. It was a good get together and meeting.
Somewhat shorter than ours used to be. Most went over 4 hours and no meal.
I would like to thank everyone involved and the C.C.A. for remembering in updating
my membership. The C.C.A. has come a long ways, has produced a lot of good
cowboys or has brought the best out of the cowboys. This has brought rodeo to
a new level.
