premiere general aviation airports, Cable Airport is dedicated
to providing top notch customer service and excellent service
delivery as well as continual investment into the Airport’s
infrastructure.
To help us assess our strengths and weaknesses, the
Airport Office seeks your input on the services provided by the
Airport as well as giving us your insight on the Flying Club,
Café, Upholstery Shop, Paint Shop, and Maintenance Shop.
We ask that you take a few minutes to tell us how we
are doing. When the survey is completed, please mail it back
to us, drop it by the office, or email it to info@cableairport.
com. Survey was mailed with November billing or is on-line at

Tenants Corner:
Tim Potter
You’ve seen him around the airport, a lot, the last couple of years. Here early, late and inbetween. Tim got involved in the flying club, got bit by the tail-wheel bug and has never looked
back. You love him or hate him, either way, he is here to stay and has established himself and
his family at the airport. Stop by the AV8R General Store and say hello to Tim, his wife Melissa
and thier children. We caught up with Tim to ask him a few of questions.
1. What do you fly?
I own a 1940 Fairchild F-24W.
I'm lucky enough to be allowed to fly Aviator Flight Training's (Daniel Wotring) 1943 Stearman,
1942 SNJ T6, and a Great Lakes Bi-plane 2T-1A
2. How Long Have You Been Flying?
I have been flying for 3 1/2 years. I have 540 total hours, 420 hours in Tail-wheel airplanes
3. How long have you been at Cable? And why did you choose Cable?
We have been at Cable for 3 1/2 years. We chose Cable because my wife and I grew up
in Claremont, got married, moved to Upland, and we could always see the airplanes fly over
our house. We loved watching the airplanes from the picnic area and attending the air shows.
4. Your thoughts in general about Cable Airport?
It's a great place to be. Once you are inside the gates it's like family. Everyone is super nice.
I am so thankful for all the people that have taken me under their wing and encouraged me to
fly planes that I never thought I'd be able to fly.

Message from the “Office”
El Niño, Wind, and CCB
Some forecasters are predicting one of the largest El Niño weather phenomena ever to hit Southern California.
The effects of this type of weather system could be vast in our region with heavy tropical rain and constantly changing
winds. Obviously, CCB has encountered this type of weather before; however, the El Niño could make the occurrences
more frequent and possibly a little more intense.
CCB is no stranger to constantly changing winds. Early in November, mild weather hit CCB and the airport
encountered winds from varying directions throughout the day. Winds came from the west, southwest, northeast and
the south. During this period, Unicom advised pilots to consider different runways multiple times.
What do unpredictable winds mean for pilots flying into and out of CCB? They mean confusion particularly for
pilots that are not familiar with CCB; but even then, we have instances of local pilots getting confused on which runway
to use. In fact, CCB has a documented incident of which two pilots, both CCB tenants, landed on runways 24 and 6
simultaneously, and this happened with an experienced Unicom operator on the radio.
Pilots must remember, Unicom provides airport advisories about wind speed and direction and the runway
most favorable for the wind conditions at the time. The Unicom operator does not provide a clearance to land. Pilots
should cross reference whatever Unicom is advising with the traffic in the pattern, the tetrahedron, and the wind socks.
Fly informed, fly responsible, fly safe.
Cable Airport Christmas Dinner Party
On Saturday night, December 5th, a sell-out crowd filled Bob and Suzanne Cable’s hangar for the festive Cable Airport Christmas
Dinner Party which was hosted by Commemorative Air Force 3rd Pursuit Squadron, EAA Chapter 448 and many friends of Cable
Airport. The fun-filled activities of the night included live entertainment, presentations recognizing the many volunteers who were
crucial in bringing back the EAA Young Eagles program back to Cable Airport, the Lifetime Service Award being presented to Fred
LaForge, the recap of the activities that the 3rd Pursuit Squadron participated in this last year, special volunteer projects, raffle drawings and an evening being amongst great company.
Raffle prizes were abundant and were donated by many supportive Cable Airport tenants and friends, including Foothill Flying Club,
AV8R General Store, Aviator Flight Training, CAF 3rd Pursuit Squadron, Foothill Aircraft, Maniac-Mikes, Mike Clearman, IHOP,
Farmer Boys, Dale Bros. Brewery, 911 Design, Ontario Police Department Air Support Division, Galleano Winery, and Organic Girl.
A special Thank you to Suzanne and Bob Cable who not only provided the hangar for the dinner, but also did most of the decorating.
The holiday lights, Christmas trees, and holiday theme decorations provided a warm and festive atmosphere for the dinner.
Mark your calendars now for December 3rd, 2016! A sell-out crowd is expected again, so plan to buy your tickets early when they
go on sale in October.

Attention Tenants! Insurance is a requirement, plane or no plane!
You may have received several letters from the Airport Office over the course of the past several months
asking and inquiring about information regarding your lease with us here at Cable. We will be sending out
letters to those tenants who we are still missing information from. If you receive a letter from us it is because
we are making a final attempt to reach you.
There has been confusion regarding whether insurance is necessary or how to go about obtaining a policy
needed to meet the insurance requirement of your lease. Under Section 9 of your lease, it is the tenant’s
obligations to provide proof of adequate insurance to Cable Airport. The Airport Office will be providing
three options to those who have not submitted proof of insurance as follows:
1. If you currently have aircraft insurance, please contact your insurance carrier and ask them to list
Cable Airport as an additional insured and send proof of insurance to the Airport Office;
2. If you do not have aircraft insurance, contact Falcon Insurance (909-949-4993) and obtain the
necessary policy. The cost is estimated to be about $200-$220 per year; and/or
3. Absence of complying with items 1 or 2 above, the Airport Office will acquire insurance on your
behalf and bill you for it along with a 10% administration fee. If the Airport Office exercises this option, your
account will be charged and any such fees will not be refundable regardless of the length of policy.
Please note: the insurance requirements within your lease are to protect you as well as the airport. If you
have any questions at all we ask that you contact the Airport Office immediately. Thank you.

measures there will be 18 video surveillance
cameras placed in various locations
throughout the airport.
These cameras will help us monitor what
takes places here at the airport and they will
provide additional measures to help protect
the tenants and those who visit the airport.

Please Plan Your Flight Times Around
Fri, Sat & Sun 1/8, 1/9, 1/10/2016
North side closure to all traffic foot or other, from 8am to
5pm Saturday, & Sunday. South side closure to all vehicle
traffic (except car show) from 8am to 5pm Saturday, &
Sunday. The areas north of the aero-commander hangars
is designated for show planes only, Friday - Sunday. Static
display planes to be parked south of the Aero-commander
hangars, Friday - Sunday. The car show will be east of the
old hangars.
Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT)
& Airport Information for Cable Air Show 2016
There will be a temporary ATCT for the Cable Air Show. The following
are procedures that will be in effect during the event. Please check
TFR / NOTAMS if you plan to fly during the event for any updates.
FOR THE AEROBATIC PRACTICE ON FRIDAY
Ground Movement: Call Tower 126.4 for ANY runway crossing, Look
for Event Staff in Orange Vests to assist with taxi directions
Departure Procedures: When requested by ATCT. Call Tower on 126.4
prior to entering the taxiway· Call Tower on 126.4 when #1 for takeoff.
Arrival Procedures: North of Cable Airport- Contact Tower on 126.4
at San Antonio Dam (3 miles north of field) South of Cable Airport –
Contact Tower on 126.4 prior to reaching Montclair Plaza (on a 45
degree entry point).
Show Planes exit South of Runway. Follow Event Staff in Orange Vests
to assist with show placement.
Transient Planes exit North of Runway. Follow Event Staff in Orange
Vests to assist with placement.
Air Traffic will be handled by the Air Show Air Boss. Landings
& take-offs may occur in between aerobatic practice sessions.
You will be asked to remain 2-3 miles north of the freeway (near
San Antonio Dam) until the practice session is completed. All
arrivals report to Tower Frequency 123.0 prior to 5 miles from
airport environment for sequencing. Please be aware that the
aerobatic box includes the entire gravel pit, from Monte Vista
to Benson; from Baseline to just North of the upper row of
hangars. The standard crosswind approach to Rwy 24 goes
right through the aerobatic box.
