Welcome to ACKventure Camp!
At the Nantucket Community School, our ACKventure Sports and Day Camps provide children with the highest quality
experiences that will leave a positive and lasting impact. Each camp will enrich campers’ lives by helping build strong
memories, strong values and strong friendships through pro-social teamwork, fun-filled games and activities and good old
fashioned fun! It is our goal to provide all campers with a summer to remember!
Registration is quick and easy!
Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. Per Commonwealth of Massachusetts Mandate, the following
items must be submitted and on file in the Nantucket Community School office before your child will be
considered registered, accepted and able to participate in ACKventure Day & Sports Camp.
1. Completed Camp Registration, Consents and Emergency Contact Forms found at www.nantucketcommunityschool.org
2. Completed State/Massachusetts School Health Record or a signed Healthcare Provider’s Physical & Immunization Record
a. MMR, DRaP, Polio, Hepatitis B must all be up to date
b. These must be signed and dated within the past two years
3. Payment in FULL - including a one-time $35 registration fee per child
“This camp must comply with regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and be licensed by the local board of health”.

ACKVENTURE CAMP
Dates: Weekly July 5-August 19
Ages: Boys & Girl’s Entering Kindergarten through 5th Grade
Time: 9:00AM-4:00PM
Fee: $275 (July 5-8: $220)
Location: NPS Campus
Our camp offers a bit of everything you can imagine when you
think CAMP! We will play games, explore nature, hit the beach,
create arts and crafts, swim, run and laugh. Day campers go on
many field trips to Nantucket landmarks, museums, and
conservation areas. Weekly themes influence the activities of
each day. ACKventure Camp is full of variety with something fun
for every camper!! Children must be age 5 by July 1, 2016, be
able to stay with the group and fully participate in activities. Sign
up weekly or for the whole summer!

JR. ACKVENTURE CAMP
Dates: Weekly July 5-August 19
Ages: Boys & Girls Ages 3 ½ - 5 years

Jr ACKventure is a great first time camp experience. Children will be
in small groups with a counselor/child ratio of 1:5. Children engage
in a variety of outdoor activities, visit our Early Childhood Center,
enjoy trips to the local beaches, arts & crafts and gym games.
Parents receive a weekly themed schedule with activities that are
developmentally appropriate for this age group. Although activities
and experiences will vary each week, our daily routine will remain
the same. This structured schedule helps our youngest children
know what to expect each day. Children must be potty trained, able
to use the bathroom and dress independently. Children must be age
3 years and 6 months by July 1, 2016, be able to stay with the group
and fully participate in activities. Sign up weekly or for the whole
summer!

BACK for a second season, this popular language and culture
programs ready for sign-ups! Explore the Chinese language and
culture through experiential activities and cultural immersion.
Activities will include Songs & Rhymes, Calligraphy, Martial Arts,
Fan Dancing, Ink Painting, Chinese Zodiacs, Traditional Festivals &
Stories and History & Geography.
EXPLORE THE WORLD OF MERMAIDS

A fun and fantastic program that encompasses all things
mermaid. Storytelling and tales, writing and collaging, moving
and stretching and discovering the ocean are just part of this
Mermaid School of Empowerment, joy and freedom. 'Field' trips
to Children’s Beach, Whaling Museum and Maria Mitchell will
also be included.
ACKVENTURE EXTENDED DAY

The Sustainable Nantucket "Farm to School" Summer Camp aims
to inspire the next generation of healthy eaters and environmental
ambassadors though an exciting and engaging exploration of our
local food system. Campers will learn about soil, seeds, and
nutrition through fun, hands-on activities that include planting
seeds, harvesting crops, cooking, crafting and learning about our
island farms.

This camp is open to all skill levels from beginner to advanced.
Our staff of highly trained athletes and Physical Education experts
will work closely with your child to ensure that he or she get the
utmost out of their camp experience. This camp will focus on the
basic techniques of base running, fielding, batting and more!
FOOTBALL CAMP
Dates: July 18-22 & July 25-29
Ages: 6-12 years

This non-contact flag football camp blends skills and drills with
daily games. Our team of coaches focus on educating players on
various aspects of football including passing, catching, kicking and
teamwork. After a morning of skill enhancing exercises, players
will divide up into teams and scrimmage one another in a fun and
safe environment.

The main objective of this camp is to introduce campers to a
multitude of physical activities. Activities include various net and
wall sports, invasion games, fielding games and target games.
Some examples are badminton, pickleball, basketball, football,
kickball, wiffleball and bowling. Campers will get the opportunity
to experience a wide variety of activities that are tailored to all
ages and skill levels.
FIELD HOCKEY - BOOT CAMP
Dates: July 25-29 & August 1-5
Ages: 11-18 years

This camp is designed to improve conditioning and enhance field
hockey skills. Camp will consist of conditioning, agility and skill
development. Our staff of experienced coaches will keep the

Dancers of all skill levels are invited to explore various dance styles
including: hip-hop, jazz and ballet. Crafts and free-time will serve as a
respite between activities and provide each camper with a wellrounded daily experience. Instruction is carefully attuned to weekly
enrollment. Daily schedule includes: group warm-up, small group
dance instruction, arts & crafts and games. Campers will have fun
while being exposed to the beauty and excitement of dance!
DANCE - TECHNIQUE INTENSIVE

Gymnastics camp will be packed with creative, non-competitive,
theme-based games. Additionally, campers will participate in rotating
gymnastic stations. This camp will develop and improve the
gymnasts’ strength, flexibility, balance, coordination and self-esteem.
Coaches will work with campers in groups and individually on the
equipment. Gymnasts will be grouped according to age and ability.

SUN (FITS) CAMP

Ages: 4-6 years

FITS Camp is three hours of outdoor soccer fun and activities for
children ages 4 to 6. A typical camp day includes warm-ups and
stretching, skill building and skill development activities,
scrimmages and small sided games. The finale is the big game,
where the kids get to play each other and then challenge their
coaches! Fun in the Sun camp is a great way for your child to
develop soccer skills and teamwork while spending time
outside!

Kick It Camps consist of three hours of soccer fun and skill building
for kids ages 7-13. A typical camp day includes a warm-up, tag
games, relay races, team building activities, skill building activities,
partner, individual and group activities, and concludes with a game
of World Cup! Kick it camp is a great way for your older child to build
confidence and learn teamwork while improving their soccer skills.

Basketball Camp Rookies is an ideal match for aspiring young
athletes from all skill sets. Coaches work directly with each player
to ensure proper fundamentals are learned in the skills of
passing, shooting, dribbling and how to transfer these skills into a
full court game. Our goal is to use age appropriate drills to
provide campers with a fun practice environment and a concrete
basketball foundation that they can take with them!

Young Stars is designed for beginners ages 5-8 years. The
emphasis is on having fun and learning the essential tennis
fundamentals. Players will begin developing hand-eye
coordination, body movement and ball skills through progression
of drills and games.

Children are enrolled on a first come, first served basis as programs
have limited space availability. Registration is considered incomplete
until all of the following are received:
ACKvENTURE POLICIES
Attendance Policy:

Children are expected to be able to stay with the group and
participate in the activities. There are no refunds or credits for
camper absences regardless of the reason.

Completed Hold Harmless/Consent Form
Completed Health History Form & School Health
Record/Immunization or Letter signed and dated by your
physician within the last two years.
Payment in full
Nantucket Community School reserves the right to cancel your child’s
enrollment in the program if we have not received all completed
forms two weeks prior to the start date of the session.
ACKvENTURE POLICIES
Payment Policy:
Payment must be made in full at the time of registration. Please make
payment by Visa/MC, cash, money order or check payable to the
Nantucket Community School. Outstanding balances must be paid in
full before camp registrations can be processed.
Health and Medical Concerns:
Children with health concerns need to meet with the Coach and/or
Health Supervisor prior to the start of camp. Children who carry an
EpiPen or inhaler must have it with them at all times.
In the case that your camper or anyone in the camper’s immediate
household develops a reportable communicable disease as defined by
the State Board of Health, it is the responsibility of the parent to notify
Nantucket Community School within 24 hours or the next business
day in order for Nantucket Community School to take proper action,
except in the case of life-threatening disease which must be reported
immediately.
Parental Custody Policy:
If a camper’s parents are separated or divorced, both
biological/adoptive parents will have access to the camper unless the
camp is provided with a copy of a court order to the contrary.

A child who demonstrates inappropriate verbal or physical behavior
will be sent home for the remainder of the day. Parents will be
contacted and required to pick-up their child immediately. If this
behavior becomes a recurring pattern the child will be withdrawn for
the remainder of the camp session. Future session enrollment will
be reviewed and approved at the discretion of the Nantucket
Community School Director.
Camp Cancellation Policy:
Nantucket Community School reserves the right to cancel camps
with low enrollment. Families will be notified the Friday before the
start of the camp and will receive a full refund.
Refund Policy:
ACKventure Day Camps & Sports Camps are NON-refundable.
Rainy Day Procedures:
If it is raining or field conditions are wet and considered unsafe,
outdoor Sports Camps will be cancelled. We regret that we cannot
reschedule or refund time or days missed.
