About Captivating
About Captivating International Foundation Ltd.
Captivating International Foundation Ltd. believes that within every child lies the
potential for greatness – something of incredible value to their world. For many, much of
this value is lost because of poverty or injustice. So Captivating’s mission and passion is to
see disadvantaged, impoverished, fatherless, poorest-of-the-poor children soar – to see them
reach out for a better tomorrow.
How it all started …
Andrew and Julie Colquhoun, founding directors and leaders of Captivating International
Foundation Limited, have felt for many years that they were blessed to be assisting others
around them. In 2006, they left the comfort of corporate life in Australia to devote
themselves fully to serving children, single mothers and families trapped in poverty or
injustice. Driven by the belief that every child and every person has something incredible to
offer their world, they wanted to help people achieve their purpose in life from a position
of extreme disadvantage – people who without a hand-up would not be able to climb out of
poverty on their own.
Their story started with a chance trip to Northern China where they came face to face with
street children who were struggling to survive harsh winters by wrapping themselves around
underground heating pipes. Following their involvement in helping this local community
establish foster family solutions for many of these children, they started to become involved
with local schools and teachers who wanted to help the poor children in their communities.
In 2008, Captivating International was founded as a Hong Kong Charity with partnership
links in Australia and the US. Today it supports projects in the Chinese Provinces of
Heilongjiang, Sichuan, Qinghai, Guizhou, Guangdong and now Africa. Captivating’s
work focuses on working with rural communities and entire villages to provide educational
scholarships and poverty reduction strategies through to foster family support, complete
home care and vocational solutions for children from extremely disadvantaged and high
risk circumstances. The Seng Girls’ Vocational Training School and Home (SGVTS) is the
perfect example of their work, passion and purpose.

The Future of Tradition
Captivating looks at projects on a location by location basis, tailoring and implementing
solutions that are most appropriate to meeting the needs of the local community or local
partner. The following four programs are core to Captivating’s work with new projects
being added each year:
Seng Girls’ Vocational School and Home (SGVTS) - Qinghai — Financing and supporting
the work of their on-the-ground partner, LOVEQTRA, to provide a
safe home and quality education for 100 girls from rural nomadic Tibetan families.
Village Development — Setting entire villages on the road to a poverty free future through
the supply of income producing solutions (pigs, chickens, walnut trees, etc.) that will end
poverty forever for these families.
Project Eden - Guangdong — Providing a safe and secure infrastructure supporting
Chinese foster couples so they can achieve their dream of providing the best level of care and
opportunity to disadvantaged Chinese children under their guardianship. Project Eden also
supplies vocational development opportunities.
Project 200 – Heilongjiang — Partnering with selected schools to help the poorest families
and children in their community. P200’s primary aim is to ensure these kids stay in school.
The Future
Captivating is always on the lookout for new project opportunities that reach out
to more children and families.
Village Development Projects — Reaching more families with village wide poverty
reduction solutions.
High School Scholarship Programs — Help girls get back in school, girls who have made the
decision to drop out even though they have the capability to go further with their schooling.
Support to small NPO’s — Many Chinese registered non-profits are doing great work on
a small scale in remote parts of China. Captivating is a perfect vehicle for becoming the
conduit that links their work to the international community as well as providing expertise
and funding to help expand their reach to more children and families.

About LOVEQTRA
What else does LOVEQTRA do?
LOVEQTRA is heavily involved in emergency relief work including the 2008 Sichuan
earthquake and the 2010 Yushu earthquake. Their work has helped hundreds of children
and families survive their horrendous circumstances – work that still continues today.
LOVEQTRA also works with Qinghai orphanages and elders’ homes. Their work spreads
over 3 provinces – Qinghai, Sichuan and Gansu.
Love Qinghai Tibet Rescue & Aid
Love Qinghai Tibet Rescue & Aid (LOVEQTRA) is a China registered non-profit, nongovernment charitable organization (registration no: [Qinghai] 63070165). Their mission is
to execute justice for the oppressed, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, set free the prisoners,
lift up the bowed down, and uphold the fatherless and the widowed.
LOVEQTRA partnered with like-minded fine cheese maker Chesinger (青西歌 ) in
Xining. Sales of Chesinger cheese will generate additional funding for LOVEQTRA’s
philanthropic. We encourage you to contact LOVEQTRA for more details. Any purchases
you make will help their great work.
In 2005, LOVEQTRA established a home in a remote location of Qinghai specifically to
provide a place of safety and refuge for girls who were found to be in unsafe circumstances.
They started a program called Operation W.O.R.T.H. centering on Women Oppressed by
& Redeemed from Traditional Hegemony. It is a program designed to systematically Rescue,
Empower, Assist, Commission and Train women who are and/or have been oppressed by the
traditional system, cultural and heritage which they are born and live.
With full support from the local and county governments, the Seng Girls’Home was
officially licensed as a Vocational Development Training Centre in November, 2009.
Captivating partnered with LOVEQTRA in 2008 when the Seng Girls’ Home cared for 40
girls. Since then, Captivating has become the primary financier of this program working in
partnership with LOVEQTRA.
The home’s capacity has been expanded to now care for more than 130 girls. The focus
of LOVEQTRA’s program is to secure the long-term futures of these girls by giving them
quality food, nutrition, medical support and to ensure they receive a quality education and
vocational development training for necessary life skills. All of these girls have dreams and
this program is all about how together we can help them realize those dreams.
The differences being made as of today is that 130 girls are safe and secure in the SGVTS
home environment. The girls vary in age from 5 to 17 years. Most of them started attending
school for the first time upon coming to SGVTS. These girls all live with the hope of a
brighter tomorrow – something none of them were prepared to even dream of previously.

About Child Sponsorship
Did you know you can sponsor a child from the Seng Girl’
s Home?
Each sponsor receives a welcome letter and background information on their child, two
updates a year on the project as well as an annual progress report on how their child is going.
Why this is so important …
Not many people know that we rely on CHILD
SPONSORSHIP to cover one-third of our total
program budget for the SGVTS. By combining
child sponsorship donations with dedicated
project donors and the Annual Charity Auction
we are able to meet our total budget goals and
continue rolling out a successful and expanding
project.
Sponsorship enables us to provide some or all of the following:
The motivation of a child sponsor is on their child - seeing her grow and develop over the
longer term. It is not unusual for a donor to stay connected to their sponsored child for years
or until we tell them their support is no longer required. This is wonderful as donations are
constant year on year directly helping the child and showing incredible support in project
planning and confidence in a strong future.
How it works …
Our standard child sponsorship arrangement is US$40 a month (US$480 a year).
Since starting the girl’s home program four years ago, we have aimed to match two sponsors
to every child. We have done this as project costs for a program that includes housing,
on-site staff and education will always be higher than costs for a child still residing with
their family. Still, we find that many sponsors prefer to know they are the only sponsor of
their child and therefore some pay double sponsorship - a total payment of US$80 a month,
US$960 a year. Our website clearly shows how many sponsors each child needs. When
received, sponsorship donations can only be used for the Seng Girls Home Project and are
combined with other project donations in support of the total program – a program that
directly benefits the sponsored child as a result.

Complete home care and support for your child at the SGVTS
Support to improve and better resource the school your child attends
Seed funding to start income producing businesses to move the SGVTS
towards self-sustainability
Vocational/life skill development for your child to move them towards independence.
This may involve them eventually being relocated to a higher place of learning elsewhere
in China.

At the Charity Auction, go to the child
sponsorship table. Captivating staff and
volunteers will be there to assist you in selecting
a child and signing up to be their sponsor.
Alternatively, go to www.captivating.org.
In the Sponsor a Child section, select Seng Girls’
Home children, choose a child to sponsor, then
follow the donation instructions.
Taking action today to sponsor a child not only brings hope of a better tomorrow to one
young life but to this whole SGVTS project.

What is a Silent Auction?
A silent auction is one without an auctioneer. During the auction period (a set
amount of time) bids are written down on a sheet of paper. The bidder can see all
the previous bids logged onto the sheet. At the end of the auction, the highest bidder
wins the item.
No, it’s MINE!” If a conflict arises over identifying the last valid bid for an
item, auction staff has the sole discretion to determine the winner or impose and
alternate method of closing the item for the interested parties, including, but not
limited to, a sealed final bid.
Rules:
Don’t open that! Please do not open any baskets or packages until they are yours
and you have a receipt.
Where’s my voucher? Gift certificates and vouchers are not displayed, but will be
provided at the time of payment. No payment, no goodies.
Reservations? Don’t fear, read on. Reservations for trips, stays in hotels, use of
facilities, ticket redemption, and etc. Must be mutually arranged by the winning
bidder and the donor unless otherwise specified. Expiration dates and
restrictions may apply.
Consumer, beware. Restrictions and expiration dates apply on several auction
items. Captivating International is NOT responsible for any restrictions omitted
or not otherwise indicated by the donor, or prizes not claimed within the scope
of restrictions or expiration dates.
Where’s my chair? Don’t worry. UniGroup Worldwide has generously
volunteered to deliver large items such as furniture, grills and elephants. Upon
check-out, that means you have to pay baby, then delivery will be arranged for
Wednesday, October 24th.
All winning bids must be settled before the end of the event. Items can be
purchased by cash, check (USD or HKD) and PayPal.
Do you want that item? Then pony up! To place a bid, print your paddle number
in the next available bid space. Every bid sheet will have a minimum starting
bid and bid increment. This will prevent you cheapskates from outbidding your
neighbor by 1RMB.
All new bids must be higher than the previous bid in order to be valid.
Please make sure when bidding you are following the “bid increment” rules.
Each item lists the amount in which each the next bid must be raised.
Play fair. Please do not scratch out other peoples’ bids.
Oops! Bids may only be voided by an auction volunteer due to a valid bidding
error. Drinking too much wine is not a valid bidding error.
Please ask for help if you find an invalid bid or make a mistake during bidding or
you’re just plain confused with what to do.
What’s in it? What do I do with it? All known contents, restrictions, and details
of items have been indicated on product description sheet above the bid sheet.
Who Moved My Cheese? Please do not remove or relocate auction items or bid
sheets. We know who you are.
Guarantee Bid Rules:
Keep those peepers open and alert: Please pay attention to the posted ENDING
time of each auction section. At the time of closing, pens down and eyes up,
as you will not be able to make any more bids on that item. Bid sheets will be
collected and winning bids will be determined and recorded.

Some items will have a “Guarantee Bid” price. This means you can buy the
product at the posted “Guarantee Bid” price which then means no one else can
go home with it except for you! First person to list the “Guarantee Bid” price
wins the item.
There will be some auction items that are the same so more than one person can
win using the “Guarantee Bid” price.

What is an Live Auction?
For those of you that don’t know, an auction is a public sale of items, one by one, to
the highest bidder for each item. To be the highest bidder, you reach deep, deep into
your pockets and offer more money than anyone else. This allows you to hold your
head higher than anybody else in the room for exactly 1.5 seconds.
Once your purchase an item, you waive any claim of liability against Captivating
International or the donor of the property or service and neither Captivating
International nor the donor is responsible for any personal injuries or damages
to property that may result from the utilization of items or services sold.
After all live auction items are sold, please proceed to the payment area. Don’t
go during the bidding; that’s just plain rude and besides you might miss out on
additional spectacular items.
Rules:
Quiet Please! Turn those darn cell phones off and for goodness sakes shut your
kisser unless of course it’s to banter with the auctioneer or to kiss your neighbor.
All winning bids must be settled before the end of the event. Items can be purchased by cash, check (USD or HKD), and PayPal.

Home Trip
This 6 day/5 night trip to Qinghai, China is a once in a
lifetime opportunity. Situated on the Qinghai-Tibetan
plateau, you will see on your way to the Seng Girls’ Vocational
Training School amazing scenery, mountains, yaks grazing
and nomads out on the grassland. Once at the Seng Girls’
home, you will have the experience of touring the facilities
and being the girls’ personal guests as they perform their
favorite songs, dances and plays for you. Prepare yourself for
an experience you will not forget. Also, prepare yourself for
the cold, camping type environments (very basic...) and high
altitudes. You will be traveling to heights just under 5,000
meters. The itinerary is as follows: Day 1, fly from Shenzhen

(approx 10hrs), Day 3 and 4; spend at the Seng Girls’ Home;

without preservatives and other make-bread-lookand-smell-good chemicals. Coffee and baked

pm and we will deliver before 10 am the next day.
