He is and shall be! Dear Parents, Students, parishioners and friends of Saint Nicholas Parish, Our 2011-2012 Church School year will begin on Sunday, September 18, 2011, the Sunday after the feast of the Elevation of the Holy Cross of our Lord. The Holy Cross is the instrument of our Lord’s victory and the symbol of His love for us. Our Lord tells us: “If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” (John 14:23) For us to return our love to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit we must know the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We must come to know the will of God in our lives. We must serve God by following His will for us. And in living lives of service to God and each other we will find the blessedness of the heavenly kingdom. Our Church School builds on the foundation of knowing, loving, and serving God which is already found in our homes. We must make sure that our children are educated in the Holy Orthodox Christian Faith. By knowing their faith, our children can further mature spiritually and keep close to Christ in their lives. Attendance at Church School is also a part of our stewardship of time. God gives us the gift of time and we return to Him an offering of thanks by dedicating time to Him: time for worship, time for prayer, time for good deeds, and time for Christian education. We have dedicated teachers here at Saint Nicholas Church to help form our children in the Holy Faith. Other dedicated individuals will assist throughout the year in various ways. Classes for all children will begin following Holy Communion. All students will leave church after Holy Communion, go to the church school area where they will receive their snack and gather in their classrooms to say their Thanksgiving prayer after Holy Communion. The classes will be finished by 12:30 p.m. We need YOUR COOPERATION to bring the knowledge of our Holy Faith to ALL OF OUR CHILDREN. We do all of this because we love God. All of our children are invited to attend Church School. Come and join us! May the Holy Spirit guide all of us in our works and may the Most Holy Mother of God intercede for us.
