Uchi Unifies its Operations with Compeat Advantage and Aloha POS
Uchi’s philosophy is that the essence of Japanese cuisine is in the
ingredients. James Beard Award winning chef, Tyson Cole, prepares his
dishes using innovative food combinations that provide the most unique
dining experience in Texas. Uchi began utilizing Compeat Advantage in their
5 locations in 2012 and are benefiting from their Compeat Advantage
and Aloha POS integration. The below interview with Uchi’s Restaurant
Accounting Manager, Leah Hays, describes their experience:
You are using two restaurant system companies – Aloha
for POS and Compeat for back office and accounting. How
is that working out for you?
Leah Hays: We have used Aloha since opening our first location
in 2003 and have been extremely happy with Compeat Advantage
since we made the switch from our prior back office and accounting
software systems in 2012. We have been very pleased with the
integration of Aloha POS and Advantage.
Are you getting all the information you need from your
Aloha system into Compeat? Are you experiencing reliable
communication?
LH: The two systems talk to each other very well. Compeat
Advantage is ready to poll sales and other data immediately
without any glitches or delays.
Is Compeat making it easier for you to audit your
Aloha POS financial information and post it directly to
accounting?
LH: Absolutely! Sales reports were previously entered manually.
Now, with Compeat Advantage, that information is automatically
polled over which saves us time on data entry and eliminates most
human error.
What did you do prior to Compeat for back office and
accounting and what did you like or dislike about it?
LH: Prior to Compeat Advantage we used Quickbooks for
accounting, Optimum Control for inventory management, and
Aloha for POS. None of the software systems were integrated
which meant redundant data entry. This resulted in a lot of room
for human error. We really had no real financial controls in place.
Why did you choose Compeat over the competition??
LH: We love that accounting and inventory management is
in one system that seamlessly integrates with our Aloha POS
system. Also, the totally customizable security access in Compeat
Advantage is great. This allows us to feel comfortable with many
different levels of employees using the software in appropriate
ways. Another benefit is that the Advantage is cloud-based and
can be accessed from anywhere with Internet access.
Has Compeat allowed you to increase control over your daily
operations?
LH: The ease of importing daily sales is huge to us. Prior to
Compeat Advantage we were manually entering daily sales
so just having the information ready to review first thing in
the morning is extremely helpful. Also, by using the eXcellent
reporting function in Advantage we are able to quickly generate
reports based on our KPI’s which allows us to analyze data that
helps monitor our financial goals.
Has Compeat allowed you to save time in your daily
restaurant operations?
LH: We have just started using the purchase order feature
for alcohol ordering. This has helped us monitor any price
discrepancies. It also eliminates entering invoices since
Advantage is able to convert the PO’s straight into invoices.
Are there any other benefits you have gained from using
Compeat?
LH: Compeat Advantage is a user friendly tool that our Front of
the House, Back of the House, and our administrative offices can
use together to measure our performance. We could not be more
pleased.
