At the 2008 Beijing Motor Show (Auto China held on April 22­28, 2008), Japanese and Korean auto
manufacturers exhibited a total of approximately 70 models centered on new model passenger cars that were
launched at the end of 2007 or later (including models that are planned to be released in the future) as well as
concept cars and reference models. The following report outlines the exhibition.
2008 Beijing Motor Show (Auto China 2008): Outlines of the exhibition and announcement by Japanese
and Korean auto manufacturers
Outlines announced
The auto manufacturer exhibited approximately 50 models including 14 Lexus brand models. It
displayed Vios/Yaris/Lexus LX570, which will be launched in 2008, as well as seven concept
Toyota
cars including iQ/i­Real.
At the exhibit space under the theme of "Environment and Safety," it exhibited Prius and
LS600ｈ cut body, and a collision safety body of Crown and Camry, which won a five­star
rating in C­NCAP ((China New Car Assessment Process).
The auto manufacturer exhibited 12 Nissan brand models including concept cars and 4 Infiniti
Nissan
brand vehicles including EX35, which was presented for the first time in China. Among them,
New Teana debuted in the world (It will be released in China in June 2008).
Under the theme of Green Harmony, the auto manufacturer exhibited at a joint booth with its
two joint venture plants in China ­ Guangzhou Honda Automobile and Dongfeng Honda
Automobile ­ a total of 10 models under Guangzhou Honda Automobile's Linian and Honda
brands. As for Acura brand models, it displayed three models ­ RL/TL/MDX ­ at an independent
Honda
booth.
Guangzhou Honda Automobile call its own brand "Linian." It announced that it would
gradually launch Linian brand passenger cars starting in 2010. In addition, it announced that it
would reduce CO2 emissions per production model 6% from 2005 with the target year set at
2010.
Mitsubishi The auto manufacturer exhibited 13 models at its independent booth. (It plans to launch six

new models in China by 2010 including ones that are manufactured in China)
The auto manufacturer announced that it would launch new Mazda 6/new Mazda RX­8/Mazda
Mazda
MX­5 within the next one year. It exhibited 16 products in 9 models. (It targets sales of 300,000
in China in 2010, planning to sell 180,000 in 2008)
The auto manufacturer announced that it would double the production system of Changan
Suzuki
Suzuki Automobile to 200,000 in 2009 (the investment is worth 25 billion Yen). It exhibited a
total of 16 models including reference exhibits (motorcycles are also included).
The auto manufacturer exhibited a total of 15 models including Tucson FCEV, a fuel­cell
concept car at a joint booth with Beijing Hyundai Motor. (In April 2008, the Beijing second

passenger car plant with an annual production capacity of 200,000 started operations. Thus, the
annual production system of Beijing Hyundai Motor increased to 500,000. It is planned to

increase to 600,000 in 2010)
The auto manufacturer exhibited six models including a fuel­cell concept, Sportage FCEV. (Its
Kia
joint venture plant, Dongfeng­Yueda­Kia Motors, plans to boost the annual production capacity
of the Yancheng plant of Jiangsu prov. to 430,000 in 2010)
Japanese and Korean auto manufacturers exhibited models that they produce in China
Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor New Vios: The model is based on Yaris 3box. It was released in February 2008. The price is 95,000­127,000 RMB.
Guangzhou Toyota Motor Yaris 2box: Production began in May 2008. It will be released in June (The price is 80,000­110,000 RMB). The monthly production volume is planned to be 6,000. The local­content ratio is 86%.

Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Qashqai: It was released in March 2008. The price is 167,800­219,800 RMB.
Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle new Teana: Debut in the world. The model is produced at the Xiangfan plant of Hubei prov. It is scheduled to be released in June 2008. The immediate monthly production volume is planned to be 7,000­8,000. The price is 236,800 RMB for a 2.5L specification and 283,800­349,800 RMB for a higher­grade 2.5/3.5L specification. The company plans to add a 2.0L model as a Chinese specification.
Guangzhou Honda Automobile Linian concept: Debut. Linian is a brand name. It is a first concept car, which is reported to be launched in 2010, under Guangzhou Honda Automobile brand (Details to be announced).
Guangzhou Honda Automobile new Accord: The company released a 2.4L specification in January 2008 and a 2.0L specification in March 2008. The price is 229,800 RMB for 2.4EX and 264,800 RMB for 2.4EXL Navi. The local content ratio is 86%.

Changan Ford­Mazda Jingxiang (Mazda 2 3box): Debut in the world. The model is a sedan specification of Demio, which is developed for the market in China. It was lined off at the Nanjing plant in March 2008 and was released in April. The price is 868,000­115,800 RMB.
Hunan Changfeng Motor 2008 Pajero: It is a 7­seat '08 model and was released in March 2008. The price is 398,600 RMB.
Changan Suzuki Automobile new SX4 3box: It is a minor­changed '08 model. Its exterior is changed and is equipped with sunroof. It was released in April 2008. The price is 98,800­118,800 RMB.

Beijing Hyundai Motor Yuedong (Elantra): It is '08 model and was released in April 2008. The price is 99,800­129,800 RMB.
Dongfeng­Yueda­Kia Motors new Cerato: It is a stretched '08 model of an overall length of 4500mm. It was released in November 2007. The price is 93,800­137,800 RMB.

Daihatsu Be­go: The model is a 5­seat compact SUV (4WD). It is Daihatsu's world strategy vehicle. It is reported that production in China is likely. The price is approximately 120,000­150,000 RMB. Reference exhibit.
Honda CR­Z concept: The model is a hybrid 2+2 seat sports car. It is expected to be introduced in the market as early as in 2009.
