SPECIAL OPERATIONS MEMORIAL PLAZA 35º 3’ 23” N 78º 53’ 8” W LOCATION: Desert Storm Drive Meadows Statue Bronze Bruce Stands in honor of legendary Special Operations Soldier, Maj. Richard “Dick” Meadows. Representative of a Special Forces NCO/SFC. Inside the base of the statue is a time capsule containing a Special Forces uniform, Green Beret, a bust of JFK, and a copy of JFK’s speech presenting the Green Beret. Memorial Wall The wall bears the names of 1,078 Special Operations Soldiers killed in conflicts since the Korean War. There is an annual ceremony around Memorial Day that adds the names of Soldiers killed during the previous year. 7th Special Forces Group Memorial Dedicated to the those from the 7th Special Forces Group that gave their lives fighting to liberate the oppressed. Located in front of the Chapel on the corner of Ardennes St. and Reilly Rd. 5th Special Forces Group Memorial Dedicated to those from the 5th Special Forces Group that gave their lives fighting to liberate the oppressed. Located in front of the Chapel on the corner of Ardennes St. and Reilly Rd. 2. 50th Signal battalion 35º 7’ 38” N 78º 59’ 27” W LOCATION: Kendenburg Street, BLDG H-5923 50th’s Fallen Soldier Memorial Dedicated in honor of victims of 9/11 and for Service Members who died in the War on Terror and those who continue to fight. Located at the entrance of the 50th Sig. Bn. HQs, beside Iron Mike Gym. 3. 27th Engineer Battalion 35º 7’ 32” N 78º 59’ 11” W LOCATION: Smoke Bomb Hill, Essayons Drive Operation Enduring Freedom Memorial Dedicated to the 13 fallen Soldiers who paid the ultimate price in Afghanistan. Located in front of the Smoke Bomb Dining Facility, the corner of Gruber Rd. and Essayons Dr. Operation Desert Storm / Desert Shield Memorial Dedicated to the 10 Soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Located in front of the Smoke Bomb Dining Facility, the corner of Gruber Rd. and Essayons Dr. 37th Engineer Combat Battalion Memorial Commemorates the members of the 37th Engineer Combat Battalion who fought as part of the 5th Engineer Special Brigade during WWII. Located at Smoke Bomb Hill, the corner of Essayon Dr. and Kedenburg Dr. World War II Memorial Dedicated to all engineers that served during WWII. Located at Smoke Bomb Hill, the corner of Essayon Dr. and Kedenburg Dr. Myitkyina Field Memorial Vietnam Veterans Memorial Dedicated to the memory of the 209th En. Bn. for heroic action at Myitkyina Field in Burma during WWII. Located in front of the Smoke Bomb Dining Facility, the corner of Gruber Rd. and Essayons Dr. Dedicated to the 27th En. Bn. who served with distinction in all four tactical zones in Vietnam, earning 5 MUC’s. Located in front of the Smoke Bomb dining facility, the corner of Gruber Rd. and Essayons Dr. 4. 18 airborne corps 35º 8’ 51” N 78º 59’ 35” W LOCATION: Main Post Parade Field 9th Infantry Division Monument Iron Mike Statue (Replica) Dedicated to the Soldiers of the 9th Infantry Division that fought in WWII from 1942-1945 and in Vietnam from 1966-1969. Located on the Main Post Parade Field. Sculpted by Leah Heibert in 1960 and 1961, using Sgt. Maj. James Runyon as a model, the statue depicts a World War II-era Airborne Trooper with a Thompson submachine gun at the ready. The official Paratrooper representing Service Members past and present at Fort Bragg. Located in the traffic circle of Armistead St. and Randolph St. The Eternal Flame Dedicated in honor of victims of 9/11 and for Service Members who died in the War on Terror and those who continue to fight. Located on the Main Post Parade Field. 101st ABN DIV (Air Assault) Monument Dedicated to the 3rd Battalion 502nd Infantry. Located on the Main Post Parade Field. 100th Infantry Division Monument Dedicated to the Soldiers of the 100th Infantry Division that trained at Fort Bragg in 1944 and fought in the Ardennes-Alsace and Centra Europe during WWII. Located on the Main Post Parade Field. 1st Expert Infantry Badge (EIB) Monument Dedicated to the first EIB awarded, 29 March 1944 to T. Sgt Walter L. Bull, 399th Infantry 100th Division. Located on the Main Post Parade Field. 5. Vietnam Memorial Stone Acknowledges the Vietnam era service of those who gave their time, talents and some their lives in defense of our freedom and our way of life. Located on the Main Post Parade Field. POW/MIA Memorial Dedicated to all American Ex-Prisoners Of War and MIA’s living and deceased. Richard “Dick” Meadows. Iron Butterfly Memorial Winged Assault Memorial Dedicated in honor of CW2 McIntyre and Maj. McKad. Located on Simmons Army Airfield on Chinook St. in front of the 3rd Battalion (GSAB) Combat Aviation Brigade Command Headquarters. Dedicated in honor of CW2 Jesse Phelps, CW2 Kenneth Stancil, SP5 Donald Grella, and SP4 Thomas Rice who died on December 26th, 1965. Located on Simmons Army Airfield on Chinook St. in front of the 3rd Battalion (GSAB) Combat Aviation Brigade Command Headquarters. 7. 16th MP-BDE 35º 9’ 31” N 78º 59 48” W LOCATION: Armistead Street 16th MP BDE HOQ Honoring the fallen Service Members and Military Working Dogs who served with the brigade in Vietnam, Korea, Desert Storm and the Global War on Terror. Located in BLDG 2-5462 on Armistead St. 503rd MP Battalion Memorial Garden Honoring all Soldiers that have died while assigned to the battalion. 503rd MP Bn. HQ, 16th MP BDE. Located on Butner Rd. 8. 82nd airborne division 35º 7’ 38” N 78º 59’ 27” W LOCATION: Ardennes Street, BLDG C-6841 82ND AIRBORNE MUSEUM 328th Infantry Rock The 82nd Airborne Museum also has 21 Commemorative Plates honoring Troopers killed in action during WWII, and have streets in the Division area named for them. Plates once sat at the intersections of the streets, so Troopers knew who it was named for and why. Located on Ardennes St. Honors all those who served and died in the 328th Infantry, 82nd Division, World War I. 82nd Airborne Memorial to the Global War on Terrorism St. Mere Eglise Church Replica of the church in St. Mere Eglise, commemorates 60th Anniversary of “D-Day,” World War II. Dominican Republic Memorial Honors the men of the 82nd Airborne Division who were killed in action in the Dominican Republic from May-September 1965. Honors those 82nd Airborne paratroopers who have given their lives in the Global War on Terrorism. The sides of the memorial contain the inscribed names of those who have been lost. 82nd Airborne Division Vietnam Memorial Dedicated to the fallen 3rd Brigade Soldiers that served in Vietnam; featuring 212 names on the base. Pike Field Memorial 307th Engineer Battalion Monument Dedicated in honor of Col. Emory J. Pike, Medal of Honor Winner. Located in front of Pike Field. Commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the Crossing of the Waal River, Holland, World War II. 9. 82ND airborne COMBAT aviation brigade 35º 8’ 4” N 79º 0’ 17” W LOCATION: Longstreet Road 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade Memorial Dedicated to all Soldiers that have died while assigned to the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade. Located in front of the Pegasus Inn Dining Facility on Longstreet Rd. 10. James Runyon as a model, the statue depicts a World War II-era Airborne Trooper with a Thompson submachine gun at the ready. Dedicated By H. Ross Perot, the statue serves as a tribute to all men and women who have served in the armed forces.
