INSTALLATION RECOMMENDATIONS MAINTENANCE To take full advantage of the technical characteristics, it is vital to carefully plan out and install Roca’s ceramic and porcelain products. For this reason, we recommend the following points: DAILY MAINTENANCE 1- Check the caliber, shade and quality of the product before installation. Remove soil with a broom, non-oily dust mop or vacuum. Use a scraper or putty knife to remove any stubborn surface debris. We do not recommend using dust-catching mops with silicone and waxes. The surface must be washed with a neutral soap and the amount of hot water recommended by the manufacturer. 2- Choose appropriate installation tools (notched trowel, rubber hammer, suction grip and rubber trowel for grouting). 3- Ensure that the surface on which the material is to be laid is level, clean and insulated from moisture. To maintain the beauty and elegance of Roca tiles, we advise daily cleaning with conventional methods. Do not use cleaning products containing wax, brighteners or similar additives, since in time they may leave a waterproof layer on the tile which alters its surface appearance. 4- Pay special attention to the type of adhesive to be used (consult the adhesive supplier), since each type of tile requires the appropriate adhesive. We strongly recommend the use of doormats, which must remain clean, in entrances to tiled areas, whether from the street, terrace or garden, to prevent the entry of abrasive elements. We recommend special care in zones close to beaches or construction works, where there is a risk of sand and stones being brought in. 5- Your installation professional should choose the appropriate size joint between pieces in order to guarantee the correct absorption of structural movements, and in consideration of dimensional tolerances of the product. It is advisable to place protections on objects which can mark the tiles if dragged (metal table legs, chairs, etc.) being especially careful whit shiny and satin-finished products. 6- Clean off excess grout from the surface of the tiles while it is still fresh, using a sponge and clean water; never use hard materials that could scratch the tiles, such as metal spatulas or abrasive scourers. Always follow the recommendations given by the adhesive manufacturer. 7- Once the tiles are laid, avoid working in the tiled zone (plastering, painting, placing scaffolds/ladders, projecting metallic fragments from disc grinders, moving tools, dragging heavy objects, moving debris from abrasive building materials, etc). If this cannot be avoided, always protect the tiles and joints to prevent cleaning problems or deterioration. If the tiles cannot be cleaned completely, we provide the following table showing suitable cleaning agents for each type: TYPE OF STAIN CLEANING AGENT Oil, ink, marker pen, tomato, fruit, chocolate, grease Organic solvents: alcohol, turpentine, acetone Alkaline detergents in liquid or powder form Bicarbonate Tar, rubber, shoe polish, paint, graffiti, wax, resins, marker pen, nail varnish Coffee, ice cream, nicotine, wine Lime, cement, beer, metal deposits, soft drinks, fruit juices Glue, chewing gum, tire or shoe rubber Blood, mercromina, iodine Organic solvents: alcohol, turpentine, acetone Alkaline detergents in liquid or powder form Diluted acids: vinegar, hydrochloric acid Organic solvents: alcohol, turpentine, acetone Diluted acids: vinegar, hydrochloric acid Oxidant: oxygenated water All the products shown in the table can easily be found in ordinary household stores and shopping centers. Special Recommendations for Polished Porcelains: On some polished surfaces, the presence of an ‘oily’ film can be observed due to the ‘stain-resistant’ treatment applied to the surface of the tiles during the manufacturing process. Once all the material has been laid and the remains of the cement and any setting material have been removed, if this film is still visible, we recommend cleaning the surface with dry cleaning products (detergents in powder form) and, once this fine protective film has been eliminated, clean the tiles as indicated above. In extreme lighting conditions, light reflections may occur due to the high degree of brightness and the characteristics of the product. We recommend cleaning all stains immediately. 70 71 MAINTENANCE WARRANTY, TERMS & CONDITIONS OF SALE GROUT CARE AND MAINTENANCE: CUSTOMER SERVICE HOURS Routine maintenance of grout does not differ from tile care. - For stubborn grout stains, agitation with a fiber or nylon-type scrubbing pad and a recommended grout cleaning solution will assist in the removal process. - If grout appearance becomes unacceptable, your tile distributor offers specialized products to address this problem. Follow specific product directions. RECONDITIONING CERAMIC TILE INSTALLATIONS: Begin the reconditioning process with a clean surface. Follow tile cleaning and stripping procedures previously mentioned, and always begin by testing an inconspicuous area first. - Remove stubborn stains. There are four common types of stains: grease/oil, soap scum, hard water deposits, and rust. Contact your tile distributor for recommended specific cleaning products. - Allow the tile installation to dry thoroughly and make sure its appearance is acceptable before you apply any sealers. Follow the sealer manufacturer’s directions. Common Problems: You can avoid most problems by following manufacturer recommendations. - If you use materials unsuitable for your tile and grout, the properties and/or appearance of your ceramic tile installation may be altered, and the installation may deteriorate. Check with your tile distributor and cleaning products manufacturer. - Ask your dealer for complete information about your ceramic tile and grout, because your ability to identify the type of tile and grout will reduce the likelihood that you will use the wrong product. - Always save a few extra tiles when your ceramic tile installation has been completed. - Always clean up spills as soon as possible. Materials left on your tile installation can be drawn or ground into your tile or grout, making cleanup more difficult. Recommendations: - Always lay out the tiles, pulling from multiple cartons, prior to installation to achieve color consistency. - When using recommended products for tiled areas, protect surrounding non-tiled surfaces. Tile cleaning and maintenance products can adversely affect metals, glass, wood, etc. - When in doubt, contact the tile distributor or product manufacturer. Choose and use properly designated maintenance products to enjoy the beauty and durability inherent in your ceramic tile installation. - The tile colors that you see on this web site are not an actual representation of the tile. Please request samples for color matching purposes. - A degree of shading is inherent in the manufacturing of glazed tiles. Before installation, please ensure an acceptable blend of shade can be achieved. Please also check the shade rating. - Check the caliber and quality of the product before laying. ORDERS - Orders without proper part numbers or UOM, may delay order confirmation, which could delay shipment. - Orders for field tile requesting less than full carton quantities will be rounded up to the nearest full carton quantity. - Revisions to an existing order that has been closed for shipment will result in a change of ship date. - The Roca Tile Group will not guarantee revisions once the product has been pulled and staged for shipment. - No salesman or agent has the authority to make any changes to the terms and conditions of sale as documented herein unless done so in writing by an Sales Area Manager. PRICE CONDITIONS - All warehouse prices are F.O.B. the US warehouse where the product is available. - All prices are subject to change without prior notice. - All container prices are CFR Port Of Entry unless differently stated on the invoice or a written agreement. - A “documentation & freight surcharge fee” of $110.00 is added to every direct container order. - All product pricing is sold in the unit of measure indicated. - All field tile is sold in full cartons only. - We do not rack carton or package quantities. Only trim and decorative pieces are sold by the piece. - Container trim orders must be in full cartons. Container field tile orders must be in full pallets. - Project pricing and any other special pricing may only be approved by the Roca Tile Group Sales Area Manager, and orders will not be shipped until special pricing is authorized. - Project pricing will have a validity of 3 months, unless otherwise noted by the Roca Tile Group Sales & Marketing Manager. SHIPPING The Roca Tile Group has developed attractive contract carrier options, which are made available as a service to our distributors. However, the distributors may utilize any transportation option they prefer including customer pickup. The Roca Tile Group recommends that you check your bills of lading carefully. - The Roca Tile Group shall have no obligation to compensate for freight on products not shipped. - Customer pickup is by appointment only and 24 hours advance notice by the customer is required. Please call 800-321-0684 to schedule an appointment time. - Prepaid freight charges will be invoiced at current shipper rates. - Extra loading charges will appear on invoice, if applicable. - All shipments are subject to shipper surcharges, which may be passed on the customer. *Source: caring for your ceramic tile - tile council of America, Inc. 72 73 WARRANTY, TERMS & CONDITIONS OF SALE WARRANTY, TERMS & CONDITIONS OF SALE RETURN AUTHORIZATION AND SHIPMENT CLAIMS QUALITY - Requests for credit or correction for errors caused by incorrect order entry or shipment must be submitted in writing and sent via fax or e-mail to the Customer Service Department within 1 month of invoice date. - Claims as to breakage, shortage or overage in quantity should also be sent in writing to the Customer Service Department no later than 10 business days after delivery. There will be no exceptions to this policy under any condition. - Any discrepancy should be noted on the bill of lading and verified with a signature from the driver delivering the load. - Any claims of defects in quality shall be made in writing to the Roca Tile Group immediately upon discovery. The Roca Tile Group shall be provided samples adequate to test the product claimed to be defective and shall be afforded the opportunity to take its own samples. - Notification of refused shipments must be communicated to the Roca Tile Group Customer Service Department within 1 business day in order to process a Return Authorization form and credit the customer’s account. - Distributor may not return any material without first obtaining approval from the Roca Tile Group through a Return Authorization consent form. The Roca Tile Group will only accept return of current inventoried product in full cartons and in good, saleable condition. A 20% restocking charge will be applied to any returned materials and customers will be responsible for the freight cost of return. SHIPPING CLAIMS - Unless otherwise stated on the bill of lading, the Roca Tile Group terms of shipment are F.O.B., the warehouse where material is located. - Once a shipment has left the Roca Tile Group warehouse, it is responsibility of the consignee. - When the shipment is picked up at the warehouse, the driver must sign the bill of lading indicating the number of pallets on the shipment. When the shipment arrived at its destination, the customer should ask the person who received it to count the number of pallets. If there is a discrepancy in either pallet count or condition of the material, it must be noted on the bill of lading in the presence of the driver. - Obvious damage to the shipment must also be noted on the bill of lading. Claims of this nature will not be honored unless noted on the bill of lading. - All damaged goods must be held for inspection or until the claim is settled. If customer schedules their own carrier, claims for damages on shipments must be filed against the shipping company. - The Roca Tile Group is responsible only for products manufactured and packaged at locations duly authorized by the Roca Tile Group. The Roca Tile Group warrants only that the products it sells will at the time of delivery meet the applicable specifications the Roca Tile Group makes. No other representations or warranties or quality merchantability or fitness for any purpose and none shall be implied by any written or oral statements made by any Roca Tile Group employee or agent. Any quality claims included but not limited to shade, appearance, caliber or obvious defects must be communicated before the tile is installed. Installation constitutes acceptance. Once installed, the Roca Tile Group assumes no liability for claims related to product. LIMITED WARRANTY - The Roca Tile Group warrants that its First Quality (i.e. Standard Grade) ceramic tile is manufactured according to ANSI A137.1-1988 and meets or exceeds those requirements. - The Roca Tile Group makes no warranty ad to the suitability of its tile for a particular installation. The Roca Tile Group does not warrant that its glazed or unglazed tile will not scratch, chip or show signs of wear. If a tile product shall be determined not to conform to the Roca Tile Group warranty, the buyer’s sole and exclusive remedy shall be replacement of the product with tile of compatible color and shade, as determined by the Roca Tile Group. Labor and installation charge are expressly excluded from this warranty. The Roca Tile Group shall not be liable under this warranty for any other damages, costs or expenses including, without lamination, ant incidental or consequential damages. The warranties set forth herein are in lieu of all other warranties expressed or implied. The Roca Tile Group disclaims all other warranties including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. The use of muriatic acid (hydrochloric acid) in removing grout haze will void all warranties. CONTAINER ORDERS - Transportation for import container shipments is the responsibility of the consignee once they have cleared Customs at the Port of Entry, unless otherwise agreed with the Roca Tile Group. - When the shipment arrives at its destination, please inspect the contents of the container before signing the bill of lading. Obvious damage must also be noted on the bill of lading in the presence of the driver. - Any charges incurred after the shipment clears Customs will be the responsibility of the customer. Claims of this nature will not be honed unless noted on the bill of lading. - Please take pictures before and after unloading pallets for insurance purposes. The Roca Tile Group will file insurance claims for you if we are notified within 1 week of receipt of the shipment. - Tile for material on Direct Container shipments transferred upon issuance of the bill of lading. Requests for credit or correction for either damages or breakages not made within 10 business days of receipt of shipment will not be allowed.
