A RT I N M OT I O N | 001 fall 2011 inspirations LITERARY pursuits Make room for books. Technology has brought us new ways to read but our love for paper bound books is back. Whether leather bound or bright and cheerful, books are now seen as valued objects in décor that express our love for the literary arts. FLOWERING lavender This look is as much about the trend-right color as the stunning flower. With the movement toward natural living, we are increasingly interested in the therapeutic virtues of lavender. The look is soft and serene, perfect for adding this season’s hottest color to walls. NEW regency This look is fit for a Queen. Regally inspired motifs are mixed and matched with fresh design for a royal look without the King’s ransom. The New Regency is divine in shades of Tiffany Blue long seen as the color of upper crust living. FLOWER power Images of flowers in home décor have been a mainstay throughout time. Over the years florals have continually evolved and this season is no different. Our artists have created a fresh look with blooms popping off the page either as silhouettes, in bright pop-inspired palettes or with a macro perspective. 002 | A RT I N M OT I O N MID CENTURY glamour From Hollywood to the streets of Paris, the classic styling from the mid 1950s and 60s is all the rage. From soft pastels to the ultra glam of high heels and jewels, this trend continues to inspire Fashion Houses and artists alike. LOST & FOUND documents Everything old is new again. As we move ever forward into a digital age, our love and admiration for hand-crafted art increases. From vintage type to handdone calligraphy, this look adds vintage artistry to collections. She often contemplates her next painting while wandering through bustling antique markets or enjoying a meditative garden stroll. Her work is known for stylishly capturing a juxtaposition of modern and old world elements. Whether she paints florals or an object found on one of her many adventures, it is always rendered with soft brushstrokes and a varied palette. Sam Appleman Sam Appleman incorporates his love and admiration of American style into every part of his life, from the interior design of his home, to the art emerging from his studio. Throughout his career as an accomplished carver and woodworker, Sam has found inspiration in his abiding love, appreciation and regard for early American crafted furniture, architecture and folk art.
