Executive Surf Club
Fall is nearly here, Thanksgiving is not far behind, and you know what
that means…TAMU vs. UT football! Hoot-N-Holler is not quite as big a
tradition as the game itself, but nonetheless is a great opportunity to
show your support for the Ags and get ready for the big game.
Hoot-N-Holler is held every year in preparation for the “Lone Star
Showdown” football game between the Aggies of Texas A&M and rival
Longhorns of University of Texas. In odd years the game is held at Kyle
Field in College Station and Hoot-N-Holler is hosted by the Nueces
County A&M Club at a location of our choice. In even years the game is
held at Darrel K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin and Hoot-NHoller is hosted by the Corpus Christi Chapter of Texas Exes at a location
of their choice.
Nueces County A&M Club will host this year’s event at Executive Surf
Club located at 309 N Water St in downtown Corpus Christi. We will
have the back bar to ourselves and we need every Aggie in town to show
up wearing maroon and white. Executive Surf Club will feature their
typical happy hour drink specials and we will provide some appetizers as
well. The official event will last not more than a couple of hours, but you
are welcome to show up late, leave early, stay all night, etc.
Hoot-N-Holler is basically a pep rally to get everyone ready for the
annual rivalry game. The event is a good time for all; there will be more
food, drink and fellowship than fighting, arguing and yelling. Picture
happy hour plus Longhorns plus a little healthy rivalry cultivation and
there you have it…Hoot-N-Holler! If you never go, then you will never
know.
Join us at Executive Surf Club for the annual Hoot-N-Holler at 6:00 PM
on Monday, November 21st and support your Ags before the big game on
Thanksgiving Day. Don’t forget the maroon and white!
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns:

NOVEMBER 2011
PRESIDENT’S CORNER
SALTY AGGIES HAPPY HOUR
Howdy Ags!
Thank goodness for the fall! Cooler evenings,
Aggie football and the holidays are just right
around the corner. I’m on the home stretch of my
tenure as Club President but I am SO excited
about the group of individuals that have
volunteered for board and officer roles in 2012!
There will be a great mix of experienced and new
people in these positions next year. I know it’s
been said before, but it can’t be said enough, the
Club could not be so successful year after year
without our dedicated officers and volunteers. We
are truly blessed!
I hope you were able to attend our annual BBQ
Kickoff at Lonesome Dove Ranch and that you and
your family enjoyed yourselves. A huge thank you
goes out to Jenny Remlinger ’01 and Adam
Remlinger ’01 our BBQ chairs and head cook! A lot
of hard work and effort goes into cooking and
organizing this event. The Club really appreciates
their dedication and also thank you to all the
volunteers who helped set up, clean up, donate
raffle/silent auction items and run the sign-in
table. I also would like to extend a huge thank
you to the Berry family for their continued support
of our Club. This event just would not be the same
without the use of their beautiful ranch and
facilities.
Well Ags, it’s that time of the year again for Aggies
to BTHO t.u. and our Annual Hoot-N-Holler event.
Wear your maroon, practice your yells and come
meet us at the Executive Surf Club on Monday,
November 21st.
Although it has not been
determined yet, this may be the last year the
Aggies and Horns play on Thanksgiving so let’s
enjoy and relive the historical tradition while we
still can.
Be sure to check our upcoming events in this
newsletter, on Facebook and our website,
www.saltyaggies.com.
I’d like to thank Jenny
Remlinger ’01, Kim Charba ’90 and Logan Burton
’02 for volunteering to be on the website
committee and working so hard to put together an
amazing new design. The Club’s new website is
looking great and so close to going live, so please
be patient with us for a little longer (the new
website will be worth the wait!). Finally, if you’re
still interested in receiving the newsletter
electronically and have not already done so, send
an email to [email protected].
Thanks and Gig ’Em!

2011-2012 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Club’s program is coordinated with the Student Financial
Aid Dept. at Texas A&M University – College Station. The
ApplyTexas application, of all students who identify Nueces
as their home county, will be forwarded to the Club’s
Scholarship Chair once the student has been accepted to
TAMU.
The Club’s Scholarship Committee will review the applications
in the February/March timeframe and will offer 2-3
scholarships valuing between $2,000 - $5,000 to the most
qualified students.
Applicants may also qualify for over 600 additional
scholarships through the Opportunity Awards program.

at [email protected] OR 361-876-0673 if you have any
additional questions.
2012 ELECTION RESULTS
AGGIE GAME WATCHES
Officers, Board of Directors, &
Chairpersons
While we can’t possibly recreate Kyle Field in Corpus
Christi, the Texas A&M Football Game Watch Party is as
close as it gets. We understand that not everyone can
make it to every game, especially away games.
The
game watch parties are a great opportunity for anyone in
town to get together with Aggies and cheer on our favorite
team.
The elections for the 2012 Officers and Board of
Directors were held on October 8th during the
Lonesome Dove BBQ. Below are the results of
the Election.
We are extremely excited to
welcome some new Aggies involved in leadership
positions and glad to have returning ones next
year! Please join me in congratulating these
Aggies on their new roles!
Football game watch parties are always a lot of fun; please
watch for emails to the listserv and updates on Facebook
as game times are announced.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns:

THE ASSOCIATION
The Association of Former Students supports Texas A&M
University and former student programs that promote the
Aggie Spirit and strengthen the Aggie Network. Support
for student organizations, beloved traditions, scholarships
and former student programs is made possible by the
generous annual donations of former students, Aggie
parents, Texas A&M faculty and staff and other active
supporters of the Aggie Network. Remaining involved and
active with the Aggie Network is vital to Texas A&M
University.

One of the best ways Aggies can demonstrate leadership
and keep the treasured traditions of Texas A&M alive is by
giving back to the University. While students at Texas
A&M, we learned the importance of being active and
involved with Texas A&M. It is important that this
tradition remain strong after graduation as well. In an
effort to meet the needs of well over 500,000 members of
the Aggie Network, The Association has established a
range of giving programs to raise the Annual Fund.

Options for giving to The Association include Annual Fund
donations, pledge payment or fulfillment, gifts on behalf of
another person, and memorial donations to name a few.
There are many levels of giving from the smallest of
donations to the most generous endowed gifts. Perhaps
the most well known level of giving is the Century Club.
The Century Club was formed in 1965 to recognize and
honor loyal Aggies who contribute at least $100 each year
to the Annual Fund. Membership in the Century Club
starts with a single donation of $100 or more ($50 for
recent graduates) and is maintained by continuing at least
that level of support annually.

With 2,429 living members in our area, Nueces County
A&M Club is the 21st largest of the more than 200 Aggie
Clubs through which much of the work of the Association is
accomplished. We were the 27th ranked club in total
donations in 2010, so we need to make up some ground in
2011 to be pulling our weight. If you didn’t make a
donation in 2010, please consider giving in 2011 or
stepping up to the Century Club level. Not only does your
gift support the students, former students, and traditions
of our great University, it really feels good to know that
you did your part to help.

2011 Lonesome Dove
Kickoff BBQ
Thank you to all of you who made it out to our annual
Lonesome Dove BBQ this year! Many Aggies with their families
and guests came out to the ranch to enjoy the beautiful
weather and delicious BBQ. We even saw some new faces and
increased our membership! A good time was had by all;
whether it was swimming, shooting skeet and trap, fishing or
simply the camaraderie of visiting with fellow Aggies.
The threat of bad weather prevented the moon jump from
being set up this year, but the kids still had a blast running
around with other future Aggies, playing with bubbles, bean
bag toss and washers and swimming in the pool. With full
bellies of delicious BBQ, we all gathered around the two TV’s to
watch our Ags BTHO Tech, Whoop! Thank you to all the
volunteers who worked the registration table and helped with
clean up.
