Light Rail Maintenance Facilities

Light rail vehicles require a maintenance facility for cleaning, repairs, and
vehicle storage. As a part of the I-70 East Corridor process, maintenance
facility locations are being evaluated that have the ability to serve other
light rail corridors that may potentially connect to the I-70 East Corridor.
These light rail corridors include the North Metro Corridor and the I-225
Corridor. Both of these corridors will need to go through an environmental
process (e.g., EIS) to determine their alignment and technology.

The site requirements for a light rail maintenance facility include:
' Minimize neighborhood impacts - located in existing industrial areas or
rail yards
' On RTD corridor - located along I-225 Corridor, I-70 East Corridor, or North
Metro Corridor
' Certain size and shape - rectangular shaped, up to 30 acres
