THE CONCERT CONNECTION
AN EVENING WITH THE ISAACS
The Isaacs, a multiple-award winning family gospel group from Nashville, Tennessee will make a
concert appearance in Princeton on Saturday, October 8. The concert will be hosted by Maranatha
Baptist Church, 314 Oakvale Road in Princeton.
In their 35 year career, the musical style
of The Isaacs has been influenced by many
genres of music including bluegrass, rhythm
and blues, folk, country, contemporary,
acoustic and southern gospel. They perform
frequently at the Grand Ole Opry, are active
members on the Gaither Homecoming
Videos and Concert Series and travel
internationally throughout the year to
perform to welcoming fans in countries
such as South Africa, Norway, Holland,
Scotland, Ireland ,Israel, Canada and many
more. Concert venues include civic centers,
auditoriums, arenas, fair grounds, parks,
churches and other locations.
They have been nominated at and
performed on the Dove Awards, IBMA
(International Bluegrass Music Association) and NQC (National Quartet Convention) Awards, the
ICMA Awards (Inspirational Christian Country). Other notable performances include CMA Fan Fest
(Country Music Fan Fest), Carnegie Hall, and many professional sporting events, including a Cincinnati
Bengal’s football game, Nashville Predators Hockey games, and an Astros/ Braves baseball game. The
Isaacs have won over 7 Doves in various categories and have had several Grammy nominations in their
career. They feel blessed to be able to travel and spread the message of hope and grace through song
and story.

($16 day of concert), Artist Circle is $18 advance. Concessions will
be served at the concert with proceeds benefiting Youth Ministries of

A Valuable Service
Once there was a man who traveled all his life; and as he
traveled, he served a valuable purpose in the world. The man was
very poor. He had no land; he had no money; he didn’t even have
shoes. All he had was a pair of tattered trousers and the contents
of their pockets, a ragged shirt and an old cloak. The cloak was his
coat and his blanket; on warm days when he needed neither coat
nor blanket, it was his pillow when he lay down to sleep.
On his bare feet, he walked over meadows and cobblestones,
through streams and over hills. He walked when the cobblestones
were so hot they blistered the soles of his feet and when the
weather was so cold it turned his toes blue and he had to stop
along the way and build a fire. Then he would wrap himself in his
cloak and sleep alongside the fire until it burned low and the cold
woke him up once more.
You may be wondering how this man, who owned nothing at
all, did not starve to death. He was not a beggar. He never asked
for a thing. While he was willing to work, it was not often that
he was offered a job to do. And yet he ate at least one full meal
a day and sometimes as many as three.The secret was in the
man’s demeanor. When he came upon anyone else on the roads
he traveled, he always said a cheerful “Hello,” smiled broadly
and tipped an imaginary hat. When the fellow traveler smiled, he
would smile once more and say cheerfully, “I must be on my way
to find my supper.” Invariably, the passerby would say, “Where do
you plan to dine?” And the man would reply cheerfully, “I will dine
in a castle on the provender of a king.”

Fully intrigued, the travelers he met nearly always stopped
in their tracks to survey this strange, poverty stricken, cheerful
individual. Of course, they had to ask, “Where is this castle where
you will dine?” The man would look around and survey the world
around him. He would point out the wild flowers surrounding
them, the clouds in the sky and the way the sun lit up the roadway
and cast shadows from the trees. “Sir, (or Ma’am)” he would
say, “God has given me this veritable castle. I spend my days in
nature’s beautiful castle, I dine here and I sleep here. There is no
grander castle.” Of course the scoffing stranger would say, “But
what will you eat?” Whereupon the man would say, “The birds do
not sow or reap and yet our heavenly Father feeds them. I am sure
he will also provide my feast. Yonder is a tree where I can gather
nuts. And there is a stream nearby where I dare say I can catch a
fish or two.”
At this, he would turn the pocket of his trousers inside
out and produce a single fish hook wrapped carefully in a long
string, which served dual purposes to prevent the fish hook
from puncturing his leg and to be used as a fishing line when
necessary. However, it was seldom necessary, because by now
the stranger he had encountered was drawing his own lunch from
his basket or coins from his pocket. After he had pressed these
upon the poor traveler, he went on his way, shaking his head and
feeling very good about himself. Making other people feel good
about themselves was the service the poor man provided and he
did it very well.

For our pastor’s 50th birthday, the congregation
decided to give him a new suit. He was so touched by the
gift that the following Sunday he
stood before everyone and with
tears in his eyes announced,
“Today, I am preaching to you in
my birthday suit.”
Never Mind Him
The new minister stood at the church door greeting the members
as they left the Sunday morning service. Most of the people were
very generous telling the new minister how much they liked his
message, except for one man who said, “That was a very dull and
boring sermon, Pastor.”
A few minutes later, the same man again appeared in line and
said, “I don’t think you did much preparation for your message.” Once
again, the man appeared, this time muttering, “You really blew it. You
didn’t have a thing to say, Pastor.”
Finally, the minister could stand it no longer. He went to one
of the deacons and inquired about the man. “Oh, don’t let that guy
bother you,” said the deacon. “He’s a little slow. All he does is go
around repeating whatever he hears other people saying.”

The Anchormen have announced that their lead vocalist Phillip Hughes
is resigning from the quartet. Anchormen owner Tim Bullins states, “We have
accepted Phillip’s resignation and are disappointed when any member of our
group has to leave. However, with the recommendation of his physicians, Phillip
feels this would be a better way to care for his health being a diabetic.”After
leaving the Anchormen in 2001, he later joined the Kingsmen Quartet for 6 years
then onto the Harvesters Quartet before returning to the Anchormen in 2015.
The Kingdom Heirs have announced their new baritone singer will be
Loren Harris. Loren is probably most known in gospel music for his tenure with
the Perrys. He also sang with the Wilburns and Ricky Atkinson and Compassion. The Kingdom Heirs have been the resident gospel quartet at Dollywood for
three decades, performing several concerts daily in the popular Tennessee
theme park.

Knowing God
A kindergarten teacher was walking
around observing her classroom of children
while they were drawing pictures. As she got
to one girl who was drawing diligently she
asked her what the drawing was. The girl
replied, “I am drawing God.” The teacher
paused and said, “But no one knows what
God looks like.” Without looking up from
her drawing, the girl replied, “They will in a
minute.”
