Summer - Organization of Flying Adjusters
SUMMER 2010
President’s Message
Fredericksburg–
Here we come!
I hope everyone has made
arrangements to attend
the annual conference this
year. The Hanger Hotel
is a truly unique setting
that I’m sure everyone will
enjoy. It is at an airport
in the Historic German Town of Fredericksburg
located in the hill country of Texas. I’d like to thank
Bob Balslev and the Arnold Group who have been
working diligently organizing everything, as this is
shaping up to be a great conference.
This year has been quite busy with various OFA
activities.
The mid-year meeting and reception had a
wonderful turn out with various opportunities for
networking. Thanks to all the sponsors for their
generous support.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the
Association for sending me to the AIA Conference
in Vancouver, Canada. The OFA booth which was
located in the Exhibitors Hall had the best location
of all. Anyone who entered the conference rooms
had to pass in front of our booth. Many thanks
to Marty Brown for his many years of service in
manning the booth at the AIA Conferences; this
is not an easy task. Thanks to Martin & Judith
Clingwall for being my personal tour guides and
hosts, Vancouver is an awesome city.
There has been a flurry of activity regarding the
recent vote to change the annual meeting from
fall to winter. Most of the recent activities are in
regard to the location of the mid-year (annual)
meeting. It appears that we will be moving the
reception to Las Colinas which is near the DFW
Airport. This will keep the reception near the SMU
Air Law Symposium. Thanks to all the officers and
committee members for helping with the decision
making process during this transition. I am sure
there will be more discussion at the conference.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone in
Fredericksburg on October 28th – 30th.
It has been a fun year serving the OFA and I would
like to thank the Association for the opportunity
and honor to serve as your President.
Sincerely
Organization of Flying Adjusters
Robert L. Betts

Editorial Comments:
Here we are in the heart
of summer and life is fun
and busy.
Our Mid-Year Meeting in
Dallas was an enjoyable
success.
It could not have been if
it weren’t for all the help putting it
together and of course all of our faithful
attendees.
I have had my share of interesting losses to
deal with this year including one insured
being the victim of the “Barefoot Bandit’s”
cross country crime spree. He was caught in
the Bahamas within a week of crashing what
was hopefully his last stolen aircraft.
Without
giving
this
criminal
anymore
attention, one has to be a little impressed
with the fact that he flew only five times
and landed with himself in one piece and
had no formal flight training! Enough said.
I am seriously getting excited about the
upcoming Annual Conference in Fredericksburg,
TX. If you have spent anytime googling this
place you will find a lovely quaint location
with lots of interesting things to do and
see. Plan ahead as the Airport Hotel has
limited rooms and they are going fast.
Marty Brown, our AIA Liaison went to Vancouver
for their annual conference. There are some
photos from this event enclosed with this
newsletter. Thanks for your dedication
Marty! You are appreciated.
I am at the 2010 EAA Air Adventure as I
write this editorial. The show itself has
gotten a slow start due to flooding and
trouble finding places for everyone to park.
Despite this obstacle the airshow still
went on and was excellent. It was extra
nice to run into our Round Rock Connection,
Don Hendricks! I will also send a special
thanks to Wentworth Aircraft and Woody from
Global for their help in making this an
already awesome trip.
I look forward to seeing everyone in a
couple of months and until then stay safe
and cool.
