ASI DATAMYTE Rotary
Torque Transducers
These rotary transducers set the standard
for dynamic torque and angle measurement
of all continuous drive and impulse tools,
with proven reliable performance in
thousands of applications worldwide.
Manufactured for ASI DataMyte by Crane
Electronics, these IS (Industry Standard)
transducers fit in-line between the assembly
tool and the fastener, measuring the actual
torques applied and angular rotation of the
fastener, under production conditions.
Whatever the vibration and shock loads
experienced, the transducer’s patented
contact system ensures a connection is
always maintained between the readout and the strain gauges. Competing systems suffer
from ‘brush bounce’ that leads to unreliable torque readings.
The low inertia design ensures accurate and repeatable measurement of high speed
transients, such as the point of shut-off on continuous drive tools and the pulsing of
impulse tools. These industrial grade rotary sensors are available in models to measure
torque only (RT series) or torque and angle (AT series).
Applications
These transducers can be used with an ASI DataMyte data collector to measure torque at
installation from ramp-type or pulse-type power torque tools. Specifically, they are
compatible with the 600 and 501 data collectors with torque option. They are also
compatible for use with ramp-type (not impulse and not impact) rundown tools. They
are available in a wide range of sizes to fit most torque measurement applications.
Construction
These rotary transducers use a patented slip-ring mechanism to eliminate signal losses
due to brush bounce and to enable low running friction in either direction. The design is
durability tested to more than 100 million revolutions with no measurable degradation of
electrical performance or wear. The transducers have aluminum housing and stainless
steel shaft with an overload capacity of 125% rated torque. Square drives conform to
ANSI B107-4—1982; BS 4006—1992 and to DIN 3121—1987.
