VELUX Blinds Retail Brochure May 2013 What does energy balance mean? Roof windows can receive and release energy. When the sun hits a window pane, the rays are transformed into heat inside the room. And when the temperature outside starts to drop, the pane will start to lose heat energy to the outside environment. Optimal energy control Sustainable living Fresh air and natural light are vital to the health of a home – and its energy consumption. So when you’re choosing the right roof windows and blinds, remember to think about your home’s energy profile too. Reduce heat Being energy efficient is about getting the most out of the energy you have available. When they’re installed in the right place, roof windows can help heat your home with solar energy, as well as allow excellent ventilation. This in turn can reduce your home’s carbon footprint. And by selecting VELUX Blinds and Awnings with the right features you can save even more energy, bringing down your energy bill and helping you create a healthier indoor climate. 1 VELUX Blinds Improve insulation Protect your home against the heat from the sun When the weather is warm, you need to reduce the heat effect of the sun. An outside awning blind, for example, will reduce the heat effect by up to 90%. Safeguard your home against heat loss Modern roof windows are well insulated – interior sunscreening can further improve this insulation by up to 21%.
