Above, campers Claire Tulley and Madalena Taurke. T his year’s parish camp is June 13 – 15. As always, we’ll be at the beautiful Santa Lucia campground in Big Sur. We’ll float down the river, relax under the giant trees and share meals with our fellow parishioners. It’s the easiest camping trip ever, because the organizers bring almost everything: food, cookstoves, tables, s’mores and more. O You just need to sign up, and bring a tent and a sleeping bag. Sign-up forms will be available at Coffee Hour. If you have questions, contact Steve Bruemmer at [email protected]. Please bring a friend. Parish Camp is a great way to introduce someone to St. Mary’s. — Steve Bruemmer Join the Fun at the St. Mary’s Antiques Show ur parish’s biggest fundraiser, the St. Mary’s Antiques and Collectibles Show and Sale, will be July 11, 12 and 13. It’s an all parish effort, with jobs of all sizes, some in the weeks before the show, and many during the show. You’ll be hearing a lot more in the time ahead. Last year the show netted about $27,000. Our profits come from ticket sales, space rental for the antique dealers, food and plant sales, a silent auction and our own thrift shop. The thrift shop brings in the Times and Tides largest share of our profit, last year over $11,000, while the silent auction did $6,000. The Corner Cupboard, featuring tasty homemade items, generally tops $1,000, with the plant booth close behind. You can help right now by doing two things. First, mark your calendar for July 11, 12 and 13. If you already know you’ll be away then, there are plenty of ways to participate in May and June. Second, look in the back of your cupboards and Continued on Page 3 Page 1 St. Mary’s Receives Grant from The Fund for Homeless Women to Increase Access to Shelter and Safety for Homeless Women in Pacific Grove T he Fund for Homeless Women awarded $50,500 to six grantees through its inaugural grants. This is the fund’s first grant-making cycle. Members of St. Mary’s, the St. Mary’s Guild and Prayer Shawl Ministry have actively participated in this important project through donations and active participation in the fund’s special events. Congratulations to St. Mary’s Christian Social Concerns for this achievement. Continued blessings on this ministry. Times and Tides Many Ways to Help at St. Mary’s Antiques Show July 11, 12 & 13 On the Record BIRTHDAYS APRIL Continued from Page 1 closets for goodies for the Thrift Shop Boutique. During the year, the shop volunteers watch for fine and special items that will sell well during the show. Do you still have that silver tray that you never want to polish again? The Yellowstone ash tray? The set of hand painted glasses that can’t go in the dishwasher, so they’re never used? Antique, vintage, collectible and other nice items go like hot cakes during the show. On the first day customers line up outside the Thrift Shop with numbers for admission. But we need your special donations to make it happen. You can bring donations to the Thrift Shop when it is open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 1-4, or to the office. Please don’t leave donations outside, or they’ll walk away and miss the show. — Betsy Lobay MAY The Rev. Kevin Fisher 4/1 Elaine DeMarco 4/4 Rob Sholl 4/6 Thomas H.
