#1 New York Times bestseller Charlaine Harris returned “with
a vengeance”* with the start of her Midnight, Texas novels. Now,
the story continues with a wild-new hardcover...
DAY SHIFT
A Novel of Midnight,Texas
Charlaine Harris
There is no such thing as bad publicity, except in Midnight,
Texas, where the residents like to keep to themselves. Even in
a town full of secretive people, Olivia Charity is an enigma.
She lives with the vampire Lemuel, but no one knows what
she does; they only know that she’s beautiful and dangerous.
She’s just the kind of person psychic Manfred Bernardo
needs on his side, now that he’s been accused of murder...

Nikolai has been a contract
killer since he was a boy. He has
always been the hunter, never
the prey. But with Daisy, he is
the mark, ready to lie down and
let her capture him. Opening his
scarred heart to her brings out
his enemies, so he will carry out
one last hit. But if they hurt her,
he will bring the world down
around their ears…
Daniel has turned paid hit
man and befriended criminals
across the globe, all to find
his kidnapped sister. In every
brothel he raids and every
human trafficking truck he stops,
he hopes the next face he finds
will be her’s. Instead in a hidden
brothel in Rio, he finds Regan
Porter, bruised but not broken,
and still sane despite her weeks
in captivity. The last thing either
of them needs is to get involved.
But with every passing minute,
he finds he can’t let her go...
Russian crime lord Vasily has
clawed—and killed—his way to
the top. But to unify his fractured
organization, he needs the
help of a technological genius.
That Naomi is breathtaking,
determined, and vulnerable
makes her more dangerous than
all his enemies combined. But
only he can keep her safe from
the world she now inhabits...

Openly Gay Player
Glenn Burke with Erik Sherman
Foreword by Billy Beane
Before Jason Collins made headlines coming out as the first
openly gay NBA player in 2013, and before the media frenzy

career was cut short by his refusal to hide his identity as a

From the author of the popular New York Times Well Blog series,
a coming-of-age memoir about finding emotional nourishment
through healthy home cooking.
MY FAT DAD
A Memoir of Food, Love, and Family, with Recipes
Dawn Lerman
Dawn Lerman spent her childhood constantly hungry. She
craved good food as her father, 450 pounds at his heaviest,
pursued endless fad diets. Dawn’s mother, on the other hand,
could barely be bothered to eat a can of tuna over the sink.
It was chaotic and lonely, but Dawn had someone she could
turn to: her grandmother, Beauty, who cultivated Dawn’s
love of wholesome food and taught her how to make her
own way in the world—one recipe at a time.
In My Fat Dad, Lerman reflects on her culinary-centric
childhood, exploring how her associations with food shaped
her relationships with her family, herself, and her future. Told
with humor, compassion, and insight, this is an ode to a love
of cuisine and the satisfaction that comes with learning to
feed those you love—mind, body, and soul.

A stirring portrait of a Holocaust survivor, American immigrant, and
Korean War hero who received the Medal of Honor for acts of valor
beyond the call of duty.
SINGLE HANDED
The Inspiring True Story of Tibor “Teddy” Rubin—
Holocaust Survivor, Korean War Hero, and
Medal of Honor Recipient
Daniel M. Cohen
In 1944, a thirteen-year-old Hungarian boy named Tibor
Rubin was captured by the Nazis and sent to the notorious
Mauthausen concentration camp, where he survived for over
a year. After the war, he arrived penniless in America. In 1950,
he volunteered for service in the Korean War and engaged
in outstanding acts of heroism before being captured. As a
P.O.W., he called on his experience in Mauthausen to help
fellow G.I.s survive. But it wasn’t until 2005, at age 76, that
Tibor’s heroism was officially recognized with the Medal of
Honor. And Rubin, the former Hungarian refugee, became
the only survivor of the Holocaust to earn America’s highest
military distinction.

THE CAKE THERAPIST
A Novel
Judith Fertig
Claire “Neely” O’Neil is a pastry chef of extraordinary talent.
Every great chef can taste shimmering, elusive flavors that most
of us miss, but Neely can “taste” feelings—cinnamon makes
you remember; plum is pleased with itself; orange is a wake-up
call. When flavor and feeling give Neely a glimpse of someone’s
inner self, she can customize her creations to help one celebrate
love, overcome fear, and even mourn a devastating loss.
Maybe that’s why she feels the need to go home to Millcreek
Valley at a time when her life seems about to fall apart. The
bakery she opens in her hometown is perfect, intimate, just
what she’s always dreamed of—and yet, as she meets her new
customers, Neely has a sense of secrets, some dark, some
perhaps tempting possibilities. A recurring flavor of alarming
intensity signals to her perfect palate a long-ago story that must
be told.

PEOPLE AND PLACES CAN BE MADE UP OF LAYERS,
STORIES THAT GIVE SHAPE TO LIVES, LOVES, AND SECRETS.
From The Cake Therapist:
It wasn’t often that I had difficulty tasting
something. Flavor was the way people like me
made sense of the world.
We knew that there was a flavor that explained you—
even to yourself. A flavor whose truth you recognized
when you tasted it. A flavor that answered the
question you didn’t know you had.
Perhaps it was a voluptuous vanilla that your sharpedged self could sink into like a pillow. Or homesick
pomegranate, each seed like a ruby slipper that would
take you back to the place where you were loved
and where people had missed you.
That’s where I was going. If only I could taste it.

A Tall, Dark, and Dangerous Novel
M. Leighton
Muse Harper is a twenty-something painter who loves red

hunter with the eyes of a tiger and the nose of a bloodhound,
he was supposed to help her find her father. What she didn’t
know was that meeting him was no accident. Now, she has a
choice to make—trust the man that she’s falling in love with
and hope he’ll do the right thing, or run as far away from him
as she can get...

THE BOOK OF PHOENIX
Nnedi Okorafor
Phoenix was grown and raised in New York’s Tower 7 among
other human genetic experiments. She is an accelerated
woman with unusual abilities. Only two years old, but with
the body and mind of an adult woman, Phoenix has never
been outside and has spent her short life reading e-books,
running on her treadmill, and basking in the love of Saeed,
another ward of Tower 7.
Then one day, Saeed sees something he was never meant
to see, and takes his own life. Devastated by his death and
Tower 7’s refusal to answer her questions, Phoenix finally
begins to yearn for her freedom. But obtaining that freedom
comes with a heavy, highly destructive price that not only
changes Phoenix forever, but seals the fate of her world.

Don’t miss the launch of science fiction’s
brightest new star...
Nova is the explosive, pulse-pounding first novel from debut author Margaret
Fortune. This vivid and gripping science fiction adventure launches a five-book series.
Each novel features a different protagonist in a stand-alone story, but all installments
revolve around the Spectres, an incorporeal alien species bent on infiltrating and
destroying the human race.
*36:00:00*
From Nova:
The clock activates so suddenly in my mind, my head involuntarily jerks a bit
to the side. The fog vanishes, dissipated in an instant as though it never was.
Memories come slotting into place, their edges sharp enough to leave furrows
in my mind, and suddenly I know. I know exactly who I am.
My name is Lia Johansen, and I was named for a prisoner of war. She lived in
the Tiersten Internment Colony for two years, and when they negotiated the
return of the prisoners, I was given her memories and sent back in her place.
And I am a genetically engineered human bomb.
