Convergence activities
Merge the best of both the DB2 PM/PE and OMEGAMON XE DB2
product offerings into a new offering
Simply spoken, we’ve combined the DB2 PM/PE reporting and performance
warehouse functions with the real-time monitoring strength and integrated
OMEGAMON end user capabilities (XE and Classic VTAM)
Merge functions of both data collectors into one
Reduce footprint and system resources
Provide new unique functions to both former customer sets
The “Performance Expert“ is a combination of the Performance
Monitor and the DB2 Buffer Pool Analyzer, plus additional
“expert” functions, i.e. ROT (Rules of Thumb) and expert SQL
queries.

DBM1 virtual storage below 2 GB - Max. number of threads
Shows the maximum number of possible threads. This depends on
the storage size and the average memory usage of active user
threads. It is calculated as follows:.
{(extended region size) - (31 bit extended low private) - (200 * 1024
* 1024)
- [(total getmained storage) + (total getmained stack storage) +
(total fixed storage)]} / (average thread footprint)

I/O Activity report
Provides detail information about
Buffer pool usage
EDM pool usage
Active log
Archive log and bootstrap data sets
Cross invalidation in a data sharing environment
Summary reports show total usage.
Detail reports show usage per DB2 PM identifier, for example
REPORT
LEVEL (EDM)
ORDER (PRIMAUTH-PLANNAME CONNECT-PLANNAME REQLOC-PRIMAUTH)
...
This command specifies that three EDM pool reports are produced:
- The first is ordered by plan name within primary authorization ID.
- The second is ordered by plan name within connection ID.
- The third is ordered by primary authorization ID within requesting location.

DB2 Connect Monitoring – The different views
1. Show all connections
on a DB2 Connect
(gateway)
2. Show DB2 Connect
specific data for a
selected DBAT
thread
3. Show all connection
to the selected DB2
Subsystem from
different DB2
Connect (gateways)
All three views allow
zoom into more
details.
Performance data from DB2 Connect can be shown from different perspectives:
By monitoring the DB2 Connect itself or drilling down into thread and database
statistics.
