R.J. Harris used to weigh 400 pounds. Now, the host of the morning
show on newsradio WHP 580 weighs 185. On the front cover of Harris’
book “It Ain’t Easy Being Fat, But That’s Your Problem,” his leaner self is
holding a pair of pants that are twice as wide as he is.
“My story of being a food addict,” he says, “is funny, but as serious as a
heart attack!”

Assembly on Lisburn Road in Camp Hill.
Of course, with his newsradio
experience, he could talk about politics,
government, social issues and the like. He
even offered the option for our event of
discussing whether the media is biased.
But it was obvious that his passion is to
inspire others to lose weight and keep it
off as he has. And so, he will share some
stories about his life-long battle with
obesity. Ironically, R.J. will be speaking
during dessert. (Sorry, R.J., our bad.)
The gala fundraiser begins with a dinner
of glazed ham, green beans amandine,
potatoes au gratin, and a choice from
among a variety of desserts.
The program also has a silent auction,
and after R.J. speaks, there will be a live
music mini-concert by local singers and

The Director’s Den
Chicken barbecues and spaghetti dinners are good fundraisers, but I’m very excited about offering the
community more than just food at CROSSFIRE’s Fall Fundraiser Gala on November 14th. The added fun
of speaker R.J. Harris and musicians Creekside Soul will make this a delightful evening for all. Please
encourage others to consider coming for their own good time, as well as helping CROSSFIRE Singles
Ministry. This event is open to the public. Tell your neighbors and friends about it. -- Denny

have to drive around the back of the church to our upper parking lot area.
From Rt. 581/83 - Take Rt. 83 North to Jonestown Road Exit, follow right lane to light at Colonial Road (next to
Colonial Diner), go through light, along west side of Colonial Park Mall to third light, turn left on Crums Mill Road and
immediate left into the CrossPoint UM Church parking lot. CROSSFIRE OFFICE is at rear of upper parking lot.

will be the keynote speaker at CROSSFIRE’s Fall Fundraiser Gala which
includes dinner, a silent auction, and a live music concert by the incredibly
talented “Creekside Soul.”

Thanksgiving Leftovers Games Night

After wearing yourself out with Black Friday shopping, bring your
Thanksgiving meal leftovers to share with others, and unwind with food and
board games. Don’t forget beverages and maybe some leftover desserts, too!
A $3.00 donation to CROSSFIRE is suggested at all games nights.

Our popular bowling night returns! We'll roll 2 games and have a fun time no
matter what the score, then we'll head to the Lower Allen Diner for a meal
and/or dessert. Cost is only $6.00 for 2 games of bowling and shoe
rentals are FREE! Barb is your host. Register with her at 732-4423 so we
can reserve enough lanes and diner seating. She'll collect the cash for bowling
that evening at Trindle Bowl. Directions: From Route 581 Westbound, take exit 4,
follow the ramp to the right, go to the traffic light at Trindle Road and turn right. Trindle Bowl is

Centerville Rd, and go 8 miles to Pine Grove Furnace State Park. Centerville
Road ends at Pine Grove Rd. Turn left onto Pine Grove Rd. and go about
0.1 mile to the Fuller Lake Day Use Area on the right.
