Always wear a helmet and shoes...never ride with bare feet
■
Keep your bike well maintained...regularly check the braking
system, chain, tire treadwear and air pressure
Local Roads
■
Ride a well-equipped bike...add bells or horns, rearview
mirrors, as well as front/rear and pedal reflectors
■
Carry a hand air pump, water bottle and a bike lock and
chain in the event you need to be away from your bike for an
extended period...always use bike racks if available, or chain
your bike to a tall post or tree where permitted
■
Keep to the right side of the trail and always stay on the trail
...avoid road hazards such as puddles, mud, glass, branches
or other materials on the trail surface
■
Keep both hands on the brakes in case of sudden stops
■
Do not carry children on the handlebars...use only approved
childseats securely attached to the bicycle frame
