Express packaging.
Commercial Invoice
It is important to ensure that information
on all your documents is consistent and
accurate, starting with the Commercial
Invoice. The Commercial Invoice is the
foundation of all other documents and is
the first international shipping document
you should complete. Information
provided on other international shipping
documents must correspond with the
Commercial Invoice.
Click on the Ship menu at fedex.ca to
get started. You can complete and print
shipping labels for intra-Canada and
international express shipments online.
Or you can manually complete an
intra-Canada or international air waybill.

Preparing FedEx Ground
shipments
®
Use your own packaging for ground
shipments. You can create and print a
combined bar-code and address label, as
well as print your shipping manifest
right from your desktop. When you are
ready to ship, give the shipping manifest
to your FedEx Ground driver. Or you can
manually complete your own address
label and apply a pre-printed bar-code
label.
• For heavier items, use double-wall
boxes.
• If you’re reusing a box, make sure
there are no holes, tears or corner
dents. Remove old labels.
Address label
Complete all fields and do not include any
abbreviations. Place next to the bar-code
label on the widest part of the package,
4 inches (10.16 cm) from the edge.
Cushion the inside
• Cushioning material can include
molded foam cushioning material,
loose-fill materials, densely packed
shredded paper or plastic bubble
cushioning. Corrugated fibreboard
pads are useful to block and brace
contents.
• Use a minimum of 2” to 3”
(5.08 cm to 7.62 cm) of packing
material on the bottom, top and sides
so contents do not shift during transit.
• If shipping multiple items in a box,
wrap each item separately and place
cushioning between them.

If you process your shipment manually,
complete a page in the pickup record
book when you are ready to ship and
give it to your FedEx Ground driver.
How to pack a FedEx Ground
shipment
Use corrugated boxes
• Please use your own boxes when
shipping with FedEx Ground.
FedEx Express packaging is for
express shipments only.
• Use only sturdy boxes with all flaps
intact.

Seal your package
• Tape seams end-to-end with tape
that’s at least 2” (5.08 cm) wide.
• Use pressure-sensitive packing tape,
water-activated reinforced tape.
• Do not use masking tape, cellophane
tape or string; and do not wrap the
box with paper.
