The new priority bandings included within the revised Allocations Policy are
introduced from 25th September 2013. If you are registered for online bidding, please
check the ‘My Applications’ area of the website to find out which band your
application is in. Alternatively, please contact Customer Services on 0121 569 6000
or ask at your nearest Neighbourhood Services Centre.
Before bidding, please read the following important information.
We have introduced a new Allocations Policy.
The new Policy includes rules about local connection and residency in Sandwell.
You will need to be able to prove one of the following in order to accept a tenancy:You are a current SMBC or Housing Association tenant living in Sandwell
You live in Sandwell and have done so continuously for 5 years or
You have a close family member living in the Borough and has done so
continuously for five years (this includes parent, adult child or sister/brother)
Live outside Sandwell?
If you currently live outside Sandwell and are successful in receiving an offer of
accommodation you will be expected to provide proof of your local connection with
Sandwell prior to us granting you a tenancy. Please contact us AS SOON AS
POSSIBLE if you do not have a local connection to Sandwell or are unable to
provide this proof.
Live in Sandwell?
If you live within Sandwell you must be able to demonstrate at the point of offer that
you have lived within the Borough for 5 years uninterrupted or have a close family
member who has lived here for 5 years continuously. Proof of residence for you or
your close relative will be required at a pre-offer interview and failure to provide this
information will result in the withdrawal of any offer made.
Applicants with certain priorities (e.g. medical, welfare, overcrowding or homeless
priority) may not need to satisfy these rules.

Extra care housing schemes have self-contained flats, each with one or two
