There is no make-up I-Read test given during the school year. If a student doesn’t take the test during this time frame, he/ she will be required to take the test in the summer. Summer Bible Jam (formerly known as Vacation Bible School) For those of you beginning to make summer camp plans, please be sure to mark your calendars for our annual Summer Bible Jam scheduled for June 9-13th in the mornings! SAVE THE DATE - Saturday, March 8th Tropical Tribute VIII will be held Saturday, March 8 at the Northside Knights of Columbus from 7:30 pm – midnight. This fun evening includes beer, wine, appetizers and live music by "Living Proof" (starting at 9 pm). Tickets are only $30. All proceeds benefit a Bishop Chatard Grant in memory of Joe and Barb Krier which is presented annually to a deserving North Deanery eighth grader to assist them in attending Bishop Chatard High School. The $2000 per year Grant has so far been awarded to 8 deserving North Deanery Students thanks to the generosity of many. Please come and join us! Bishop Chatard High School would like to extend an invitation to 5th - 8th grade St. Matthew students to attend: STEM/Robotics Workshop hosted by Bishop Chatard High School Wednesday, February 19th 4:00pm to 5:30pm at Bishop Chatard High School Free of Charge! Students will compete in a robotics tournament with robots built by the Bishop Chatard Trobotics team, observe and participate in science experiments, some of which they can take home! The event is FREE, open to students in 5th - 8th grade and includes a snack. The workshop is limited to 30 students. We are compiling a waiting list and if there is enough interest we will add a second day of the workshop. The IHM/SPX “SAINTS” girl’s lacrosse program, now in its fifth year, is looking for players for our 5/6th and 7-8th grade teams. In addition to IHM and SPX, we are reaching out to all those interested from St. Luke, St. Matthew, St. Joan of Arc, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Lawrence and Christ the King parishes. If you would like to learn more about the program, please plan to attend the meeting. We will cover basics including schedule, time commitment, equipment, coaches, and costs. Parents and players are welcome and the meeting will last under an hour. If you are interested, but cannot make the meeting, please call or email us so we can get a gauge on the level of interest. Join players from SMS and surrounding schools on the Broad Ripple Park Rugby team. Players are needed for our co-ed 5/6-grade team, 7/8-grade boys team, and the co-ed 2/3/4 flag team. In addition to the great athletic benefits, rugby teaches teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership and camaraderie. Indoor conditioning and passing practice begin in February.
