A valid driver’s license or state ID is required to receive resident discounts. Safety Information • Flotation devices must be Coast Guard approved. • Children under 42” tall must be within arms reach of an adult caregiver in the water. • Children under 48” tall must be accompanied by an adult in the pool area. • Children must be at least 54” tall to be dropped off without an adult. • Guests are strongly urged to lock all items left unattended in the locker room. • A swim test is required for those using our deep water areas during open swim times. I believe it was also a great day for West Michigan. Membership Benefits Membership at the Aquatic Center includes unlimited visits to all lap swim, fitness room, open therapy pool, spa, and Splash Zone hours. Members receive discounted rates on competitive, fitness, and instructional programming - to obtain the member rate, the membership must extend the full term of the program. Locker Rental with Annual Membership - $48/year Towel Rental with Membership - $40/year Fitness Room 16 yrs. & up A fitness room is available for adults. This area includes treadmills, stair climbers, arc trainers, rowing machine, and more. See orientation information below. Orientation is required for those ages 16 & 17 (with a signed permission slip). A staff member will demonstrate how to use all fitness equipment. Approximately 45 mins. Therapy Pool Therapy Pool hours are for those wishing to water walk or do therapeutic exercises. The pool is set up with assistance bars around the perimeter, a chair lift, and ranges in depth from 2’11” to 5’4”. This pool is kept at a warm 90 degrees and is not suited for lap swimming, but it is ideal for those in need of warmer water! Parent & Tot Practice 6 yrs. & under Practice time in the Therapy Pool is available for preschool aged children to work on their swimming skills including floating, blowing bubbles, kicking, paddling, etc. A parent must accompany children in the water and must always be within arm’s reach. Please keep in mind that our Splash Zone area is suited best for play time. Mon/Wed/Fri Sunday 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. 1:00 p.m. - 2:15 p.m. Membership Guidelines • A state ID or driver’s license is required to receive resident rates. • Children 2 years and younger are admitted free. • A family membership includes up to two adults and their children (19 yrs. or under) residing in the same household. • Children over the age of 19 may be included in a family package if they are a full time student. • Active military discounts are available for daily fees and membership packages. Ask at our front desk for information. Lap Swim All ages Lap swimming is available year-round to swim, water walk or exercise. Pool depth ranges from 4 to 13 feet and regular lap lane set-up is 25 yds. long. A shallow area of the pool may be offered when available. Participants are expected to share lanes and circle swim when necessary. Spa: Closed Monday - Friday, 3 - 6 p.m. and Saturday, 8 - 10 a.m. The Spa will be open during all other Lap Swim hours. Splash Zone/Open Swim All Ages Open swim is a time for kids of all ages to enjoy the Splash Zone play features as well as some splashing around in the “big pool.” The Splash Zone, including the water slide, vortex, and kiddie pool, as well as the diving boards and inner tubes will be available. Added features, including our zip line and “Double Trouble” (water obstacle course), will be offered when pool space allows. The leisure pool (up to 1.5 ft. deep) is open for splashing around with your toddler or preschooler. Children under 42” tall must be within arms reach of an adult caregiver in the water. Coast Guard approved flotation devices are allowed and children who are not toilet-trained must wear a swim diaper. Mon/Wed/Fri 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon Splish Splash Story Time 6 yrs. & under Join us for stories, songs and fun activities with your little ones on the 1st Monday of the month. Story time begins at 9:30 a.m. and is immediately followed by our Preschool Swim. This activitiy is for children 6 and younger with a parent or guardian. There is no charge for story time regular Preschool Swim rates apply. This program was designed by the American Swimming Coaches Association and allows students to learn the technique-oriented and goal-directed program at their own pace. Registration is ongoing and year-round! Senior Group (ages 13+): MLA’s highest level training group committed to the development of their full potential as a swimmer and student athlete. Swimmers are required to maintain a 90% monthly attendance average to remain in this group. Training will be focused on competing at the championship level including State Championships, Senior Sectionals, USA Swimming Jr. Nationals and Nationals. You do not need to be a “MASTERFUL” swimmer to join this program. Anyone over 18 years of age, who can swim 25 yards, is welcome to join! The goal of each practice is to become a better swimmer. Our professional coach provides expert and caring assistance in improving technique, stroke mechanics and goal setting. Each practice will accommodate all skill levels: beginner, intermediate, advanced, or triathletes. Mike is a seasoned coach with extensive knowledge of teaching, learning, training, and motivational techniques. His coaching philosophy focuses on improving technique in order to help swimmers move through the water with grace, flow and efficiency. Mike believes that speed will follow when swimmers master ease in the water. His coaching is holistic, helping athletes develop intellectual, physical, and psychological skills resulting in enhanced performance and a keen love of the sport. On Jan. 2, 2014, everyone climbs into their space ships (powered by laps you swim) for this year-long challenge. You’ll begin on Mercury and swim across the solar system to avoid being consumed by the sun. New additions will start at the designated space station for that month. Each month you must swim about 30 miles to stay out of the sun’s grasp. Make it safely to the Holland Space Station (next to Pluto) by December 31, 2014, and you will receive a prize from all of us at HCAC! Private Party Rentals Interested in having the pool reserved especially for your group? The Aquatic Center is available for private party rentals on Saturday evenings. The Splash Zone, 50 meter pool, play features, and our large party room are all available for your next youth group outing, family gathering or company party!
