WHY USE TIRES AND WHEELS FROM 30 YEARS AGO? GOODYEAR LSW TECHNOLOGY IS NOW ® ® EXPERIENCE THE GOODYEAR ADVANTAGE ® WITH THE STABILITY OF TITAN LOW SIDEWALL (LSW ®) TECHNOLOGY Why use tires and wheels designed over 30 years ago? Tractors and combines are faster and heavier than ever before, but to take full advantage of their capabilities, you need the right wheel and tire assembly. A conventional wheel/tire assembly with a 70 percent aspect ratio has a tendency to bounce during road transport and hop in the field when put in high-draw-bar applications. With LSW®, those issues are eliminated. WHAT IS LSW® TECHNOLOGY? Low Sidewall (LSW®) technology features a larger rim diameter and smaller sidewall than a standard tire, while maintaining the same outside diameter, inflation pressures and weight load capacity. The larger rim and smaller sidewall of LSW® provides much greater stability for equipment. LOW SIDEWALL EXPERIENCE THE … Speed LSW® helps reduce bouncing and road loping, which results in increased transport speeds between fields, keeping your operation productive and profitable. Smooth ride Same outside diameter 46" LSW® provides a smoother ride both in the field and on the road. The smaller sidewall reduces recoil and bouncing that results in road lope and power hop. Stability The increased rim diameter of LSW® reduces machine sway, resulting in greater lateral stability on hillside conditions without the need to increase inflation pressures. STANDARD Safety Less bounce and greater stability around curves results in improved operator comfort and safety. Fuel economy LSW® reduces sidewall deflection, which helps increase the rolling circumference for improved fuel economy. 38" Same outside diameter PROBLEMS SOLVED LSW ® TIRES SOLVE THE PROBLEMS CAUSED BY STANDARD TIRES ROAD LOPE POWER HOP SOIL COMPACTION ROAD LOPE Definition: (n.), The bouncing and swaying of a tractor or combine during road transport, often caused by issues with the roundness of the tire, alignment of the assembly and the flexing of the sidewall. POWER HOP Definition: (n.), The bouncing of a tractor associated with high-drawbar applications; a problem caused by the tire gaining traction as the sidewall flexes and recoils, resulting in uncontrollable bouncing of the tractor. SOIL COMPACTION Definition: (n.), The result of soil particles being pressed together, often caused by the pressure of heavy field equipment. This can lead to undesirable effects on plant growth including smaller yields and lower quality. Solution: LSW® technology tires feature a shorter sidewall, which more quickly dampens bumps in the road, leading to less bouncing, quicker recovery time and reduced road lope. Solution: LSW® technology tires feature a shorter sidewall, resulting in less sidewall recoil, more stability and reduced power hop. Solution: LSW® technology combined with Extreme Flotation™ size tires provides nearly 20 percent greater contact area versus standard duals, which reduces ground-bearing pressure and improves flotation, therefore reducing soil compaction. TESTED AND PROVEN University testing shows that the 20 percent increase in contact area of the LSW® super singles at lower inflation pressures reduces soil compaction when compared to a traditional dual setup. “We put these tires on our tractor and it changed itself immensely. It was almost like having a new tractor.” Scott Petersen Libertyville, Illinois GET THE LSW ADVANTAGE FOR YOUR EQUIPMENT 4WD TRACTORS High-horsepower tractors will experience less road lope, reduced power hop, improved transport speeds and smoother ride with LSW® technology. Effective Date: 08/21/2015 EXPERIENCE THE GOODYEAR ADVANTAGE LSW VS. TRACKS: TOP FIVE REASONS ® Forget what you think you know. Tires versus tracks is no longer a debate. Commodity prices are falling. Equipment and input costs continue to rise. You can’t fool around with unnecessary expenses. And now with Low Sidewall technology, that’s exactly what tracks are — an unnecessary expense. When you compare LSW® tires to tracks, the decision is clear. There are five reasons why Goodyear Farm Tires featuring Titan LSW® technology are the better choice: 1. PRICE A new track machine takes up to $60,000 more out of your wallet than an LSW machine. 3. SPEED An LSW machine will road 30 percent faster and ride a whole lot smoother. 2. MAINTENANCE A track machine requires more maintenance which means more downtime. 4. FUEL EFFICIENCY An LSW machine will save you up to 30 percent in fuel costs. 5. FIELD PERFORMANCE Everything you think you get from tracks, you get from LSW … and then some. We’ve put them to the test, and time after time, our LSW technology comes out on top. See for yourself. Traction Flotation When this John Deere 8410 with conventional singles got stuck in the mud with its 400 gallon spray tank, it was our LSW tires to the rescue. The John Deere 8295R equipped with Goodyear LSW1000/40R32 fronts and LSW1100/45R46 rears was able to continue work in the same conditions thanks to increased traction and flotation. LSW tires go where tracks and conventional tires can’t. This John Deere S680 combine is running LSW1250/35R46 fronts and LSW710/60R30 rears. The farmer was in the market for a product that could replace his conventional dual 520/85R42 setup. In the past, he had problems cutting fields that were slightly wet. The conventional dual 520 setup would often get stuck killing the day’s productivity. In the first week of running the LSW setup, he stated that the tires have already paid for themselves by optimizing his productivity and efficiency. Compaction Ride When Russel Neurauter of Leask, Canada saw our LSW tires he thought the large tire width would ruin his crops. “I thought they were going to tear up a lot more crop but the actual fact of the matter is they tear out almost nothing. The treads hit the ground and the crop comes right up. When we come down for fungicide season, you normally look for the tracks and follow the same tracks; you can’t find the tracks after you spray with these tires so the crop compaction is a real improvement.” With a shorter sidewall, the LSW tire significantly reduces road lope and power hop. Don’t take it from us, hear it from our operators. Scott Chestnut: “With the higher profile we’re getting faster road speeds, improved transport speeds from farm to farm. It saves quite a bit of time and the ride is still good at the higher speeds, which is a little unbelievable that we can travel that fast and still have a smooth ride.” Clint Wobeter: “The comment I would use to sum the whole thing up, the difference between conventional and LSW: you could fall asleep in the LSWs, it just kind of glides over everything” EXPERIENCE THE GOODYEAR ADVANTAGE LSW PERFORMANCE: NO COMPETITION ® Everything you think you get from tracks, you get from LSW … and then some. We’ve put them to the test, and time after time, our LSW technology comes out on top. Not just above tracks but also above conventional tires. See for yourself. Sloan Implement — a Virdon, Illinois equipment dealer Challenger: Goodyear Optitrac LSW800/55R46 tires Competitors: Case Quadtrac 550 track machine and a John Deere 9560 running standard 800/70R38 tires. All three machines pulled a 22foot disc ripper at the same depth Results: The results showed that the Optitrac Low Sidewall (LSW) tires provide significantly better fuel efficiency and comparable traction compared to the track machine, and less wheel slip compared to the conventional 800/70R38 tires. Van Wall Equipment Field Demo Days — Perry, Iowa Challenger: Goodyear Super Terra Grip XT LSW1000/40R32 (fronts) at 10 psi and Goodyear DT930 LSW1100/45R46 (rears) at 8 psi on a John Deere 8360R Competitor: John Deere 8360R track machine Results: The LSW tires performed excellently against the tracks in extreme conditions. Drivers were impressed with slip averaging 3 -5% and the smoother ride in the wheeled machine versus the tracked as well as its exceptional steering. Sackett Ranch and Reeman Farm Equipment— Stanton, Michigan Challenger: Goodyear Optitrac LSW800/55R46 tires, fronts at 8 psi and rears at 10 psi running on a Case Steiger 550 4WD tractor Competitor: Case Steiger Quadtrac 550 track machine Both machines pulled a 21-foot tillage unit at the same depth of 17”. Results: The LSW tires performed just as well as the tracked machine in slip (3-7%), fuel efficiency (2829.5) and power (96-105%). It was preferred for its steering and smoother ride. Van Wall Equipment Field Demo — Tama, Iowa Challenger: Goodyear LSW on John Deere 9560R Competitor: John Deere 9560R with conventional 800s Results: When roading the equipment, the LSW tires were able to ride comfortably at 26 mph while the standard tires could only reach 20 mph. Not only did the LSW tires provide a smoother ride, there was less slip and fuel consumption. THE GRIZZ SQUAD BOOTS ON THE GROUND Want better performance from your tires?
