past forty-four years. It would seem that an
increasing number of students, faculty, and alumni
are yearning for more than just the usual variety of
mass-produced insignia products.
Handmade in Great Britain, the CAMWRAP scarf is stylish, traditional, and just plain cool.
If your university, college, or school is among the names listed below, Camwrap has registered
the design of your scarf, and can produce a minimum of forty scarves any time of the year at
prices shown on page two. Six weeks lead time is normally required. Typically we accept
orders in the spring for fall delivery. The following is a list of the American academic

MITCHELL’S ORIGINAL WOOL FAT SOAP
A traditional soap that is kindness itself.
The story of this soap really begins with the humble sheep. We all know, in order to survive the rigours
of winter, sheep grow a thick woolly coat. In our climate, however, to stay warm you also have to stay dry; a
near impossible task, you might imagine, on the exposed upland pastures of Britain. Essential to the sheep’s
survival is an inbuilt mechanism for secreting wool fat, a greasy substance which seals out the wet.
In Britain when the sheep’s coat is clipped most often the wool ends up in Bradford, Yorkshire. Here the
different qualities of wool are sorted and have the wool fat removed before the spinning and dyeing take place.
Both the sheep shearers, no matter how tough they might be, and the Bradford wool sorters have one thing in
common: beautifully soft hands. The reason for this is that the wool fat in the fleeces they handle is rich in
natural lanolin.
Mr. Fred Mitchell, a Bradford chemist, realized this natural lanolin could be beneficial to the skin all
over the body. So a soap, based on a recipe from around the turn of the century, was formulated incorporating
the lanolin from the wool fat as a key ingredient. For years, Mitchell’s Wool Fat Soap acquired a dedicated
following of local customers, but was rarely seen outside a twenty-five mile radius of Bradford.
The suppliers of Wool Fat Soap today make no strong claims for its beneficial effects on the skin, but
most people notice their skin becomes appreciably softer and smoother after using the soap for a few days. It is
safe for every member of the family as it contains no strong synthetic scents or colouring agents. Many people
with sensitive or dry skin find the gentle action of the lanolin very soothing, and members of the British
medical profession have often recommended it to help alleviate certain skin complaints.
When Graham Robinson took control of Mitchell’s chemist shop in Darley Street, Bradford, he also
acquired the closely guarded recipe for Wool Fat Soap. He found customer loyalty and enthusiasm for this
soap so great that it encouraged him to seek a wider market. Mitchell’s Wool Fat Soap is now on sale in
selected shops in most parts of the British Isles as well as in Europe, Australia and Japan, but the most
successful export market has been the U.S.A. It sells well from Anchorage, Alaska, where the bitter cold winds
dry and crack the skin, to Key West, Florida, where the tropical sunshine and salt air have a similar effect.
Mitchell’s Wool Fat Soap may be recognized around the world by its original yellow and brown wrapper
or in a colourful “little shepherdess” country scene packaging. It can also be found in Britain’s National trust
shops in a specially designed wrap, having been chosen for this honour over submissions from many world
class soap companies. Mitchell’s shampoo, bath foam, body lotion and shower gel also contain lanolin and are
biodegradable. All Mitchell’s products are environmentally friendly.
