Director General’s
Message
The hallmarks of success run much deeper than
mere profits. For many business professionals, a
profitable bottom line is not the sole criterion in
defining success; tangible and intangible virtues
such as excellence, best practices, innovation
and sustainability are core elements that
contribute to the overall success of a firm.
It was therefore with the intention to showcase
the ’best of the best’ and honor those
businesses in Hamriyah Free Zone who have
taken their companies, teams and results to
‘the next level’ of success that the Hamriyah
TOP3 Awards were instituted two years ago.
By recognizing and promoting excellence,
best practices and innovation within the HFZA
community, the TOP3 Awards provides dynamic
and forward thinking businesses a platform to
showcase their achievements and share their
success with other like minded companies.
Today, the Hamriyah TOP3 Awards has
established itself as the ultimate platform for
outstanding businesses in the Hamriyah Free
Zone. At the awards ceremony in March this
year, I was delighted to note that the event
has evolved to become much more than just a
celebration of excellence.
The TOP3 Awards are now the highlight of
Hamriyah Free Zone’s business calendar and
serves as an opportunity to network as it attracts
high profile industry support and involvement.
At Hamriyah Free Zone, it is our mission
to represent, serve and connect our 6000
members to build and sustain a thriving business
community.
The TOP3 Awards brings our community
together to celebrate the accomplishments of
individuals, businesses and organizations across
all industries in our Free Zone.
The Awards are also a tribute to the
entrepreneurial abilities and industriousness of
these investors whose contributions have led to
the success of the Hamriyah Free Zone.
I would like to take this opportunity to
congratulate all of our 2013 TOP3 Awards
winners – they are a great example of the quality
of businesses we have in HFZA.
I hope that the endorsement of the success of
our winners will inspire many more in the Free
Zone to continue to shape HFZA’s corporate
landscape through innovative and dynamic
processes as we move forward to another
exciting phase in our growth.
Warm Regards,
Dr. Rashid Alleem
Director General

Sharjah’s strategic location
between Europe and the Far
East and its direct access to
the Arabian Gulf and the Indian
Ocean offers it a gateway
to 160 countries serving
two billion consumers, thus
offering unbeatable logistical,
warehousing and distribution
advantages for investors.
According to a recent study
released by the Sharjah
Investment and Development
Authority (Shurooq), this has
led Sharjah’s transport and
logistics industry to soar to
new heights.
Strong growth in the emirate’s
economy is driven by its openeconomy polices, incentives,
flexible legislation, state-of-the
art facilities and sophisticated
logistics infrastructure, it
noted. The various Free Zones
in Sharjah have also been
instrumental in boosting the
emirate’s economy.
According to Saud Salim
Al Mazrouei, Director of
Commercial Affairs, Hamriyah
Free Zone Authority (HFZA),
“HFZA is not only the UAE’s
second largest free zone and
one of the largest free trade
areas in the Middle East, it
is also the only free zone in
the UAE which offers a port
specialized in bulk and heavy
cargo with a 14-meter-deep
sea port that accommodates
dedicated
berths
for
petrochemical bulk.”
Sharjah accounts for more
than 36% of the country’s
industrial GDP, he said,
adding: “HFZA is growing at
an impressive rate and the
industrial area in the free zone
has been expanded recently
to meet the high investor
demand.”

and Ali Al Jarwan, Sales &
Marketing Manager,

at the UAE Pavilion attracted
large numbers of German and
international
industrialists
and business traders.
Germany is the UAE’s most
important trading partner
within the Eurozone, while the
UAE in turn, represents the
most important market for
Germany in the MENA region.
During the two-weeks’ trip
in April, the HFZA delegation
also visited various branches
of Intesa Sanpaolo Bank, the
biggest retail Bank among
the top bank groups in the
Eurozone and held several
meetings with some of
Italy’s top companies and
authorities.
HFZA ties up with halal industry players
In line with the marketing
campaign for the year 2013,
Hamriyah Free Zone Authority
(HFZA) participated in the 10th
International Halal Showcase
(MIHAS) held at the Kuala
Lumpur Convention Centre
from 3rd to 6th April 2013.
Organized under the theme
“Empowering the Global Halal
Market”, HFZA’s participation
in this largest event for halal
industry allowed the Free Zone
to gain immediate access to
the more than 500 exhibitors
at the event.
HFZA delegates, Azzan Al Bah
and Ashik K.P., held extensive
business meetings with buyers
and traders from SMEs to
multinational corporations as
well as global investors and
trend watchers.
At the 10th International Halal Showcase in Malaysia, HFZA attracted inquiries from
developing markets committed to serving the needs of the halal consumer.
Thanks to these networking
opportunities,
HFZA
was
able to attract a few serious
inquiries
especially
from
developing markets committed
to serving the needs of the
halal consumer.
“Potential
investors
were
impressed by HFZA’s track
record of almost 6,000
investors from 153 countries
with an investment exceeding
$2 billion within a short span
and HFZA’s service levels
wherein licenses can be
issued even in less than two
hours with one-stop services
to assist them with their
business needs,” said Azzan.
At
the
3rd
UAE-Korea
Economic Partnership Forum
inaugurated by HE Abdulla
Ghobash, UAE Minister of
State, and held in Seoul, South
Korea from 27th to 28th May,
2013, Hamriyah Free Zone
Authority was represented
by Hamad Al Shamsi, Sales
Officer. The Forum aimed to
build strong economic ties
between the two countries
based on bilateral cooperation
and investment opportunities
available in both countries.
“The UAE is the second largest
market for Korean investors
in the Middle East, and
among the ten largest export
gateways for Korean products
in the world,” said Hamad
Al Shamsi. “At the Forum,
HFZA showcased its immense
opportunities for investment
and excellent infrastructure
facilities and succeeded in
attracting large numbers of
inquiries by Korean businesses
in partnering with the Free
Zone.”
Participation in the Forum
was part of HFZA’s marketing
strategy to broaden its market
share and explore prospects in
new and untapped markets.
HFZA affirms support for The BIG Show
an overall good investment
climate,
HFZA
delegates
at The BIG Show got an
opportunity to actively promote
the facilities and services
available at the Free Zone
directly to prospective clients
and thereby enhance potential
investors’ confidence.

(HFZA) was a key participant
at the 10th international
exhibition of building materials,
heavy construction equipment
and interior furnishings, The
BIG Show, held at Oman from
March 17 to 20, 2013.
The exhibition served as a
beneficial trade platform for
HFZA officials to meet with
buyers, manufacturers, and
distributors from around the
region and as a gateway to
create business opportunities
and
promote
inward
investment.
With multi-billion projects
under construction in both

countries as an important
foreign investment hub and
