MD Department of
Natural Resources
Outlines Fee
Reductions
Following Maryland Governor
Larry Hogan’s announcement that
the state is eliminating or reducing
$60 million in state-issued fees, the
Department of Natural Resources
outlined its proposals which will save
Marylanders approximately $2.71 million over the next five years.
As part of the program, military
veterans will receive free admission
to Maryland State Parks on Veterans
Day and half-priced admission yearround with proof of service. In addition, fourth grade students and their
families will receive free admission
to all state parks through the National
Park Service’s Every Kid in a Park
pass. Both promotions are effective
immediately.
“These strategically chosen reductions are another step forward in alleviating the complicated and taxing
fiscal demands that have been placed
on Marylanders,” Natural Resources
Secretary Mark Belton said. “We are
grateful for Governor Hogan’s commitment to reducing fees and making access to our public lands more
affordable.”
Additional fees that were eliminated or reduced:
The replacement Commercial Fishing License fee has been eliminated.
The Fisheries Scientific Collecting
Permit was reduced from $25 to $10.
The Off Road Vehicle Permit was
reduced from $15 to $10.
The Captive Reptile and Amphibian
Permit was reduced from $25 to $10.
The Falconry Permit was reduced
from $25 to $10.
The Resident Peregrine Falcon Take
Permit was reduced from $25 to $10.
Two Prince George’s County men were charged last month with
poaching 27 striped bass near the Fishing Creek Bridge in Dorchester
County.
Jose Roberto Medrano, 24, of Fort Washington, and Jose DeJesus
Garcia Pineda, 35, of Oxon Hill, were stopped at 5:20 a.m. by officers
on surveillance. Each man was charged with having undersized striped
bass, exceeding the daily catch limit, catching in a restricted area and
violating time of day regulations.
They are scheduled to appear in Dorchester County District Court on
July 20. If found guilty of all charges, each man could be fined as much
as $6,000.
Six men were charged last month with poaching striped bass by officers on saturation patrol near Fishing Creek in Dorchester County.
Fredy Alvarado, 44, and Jose Rosendo Ramierez Hernandez, 31, both
of Frederick, received citations for keeping undersized striped bass
and exceeding the catch limit.
Alvaro Enrique Morales Jordan, 33, and Melvin Espino-Cardona, 35,
both of Laurel, received citations for keeping undersized striped bass
and fishing outside legal hours. Espino-Cardona also was charged
with exceeding the catch limit and possession of three American shad,
a violation that carries a maximum fine of $1,000.
Francisco Javier Solorzano, 46, of Silver Spring, and Angel Arely Morales, 34, of Laurel, received citations for keeping undersized striped
bass, exceeding the catch limit and fishing outside legal hours. Solorzano also received a ticket for fishing without a license.
All six men are to appear in Dorchester District Court on July 20. Each
striped bass citation carries a maximum penalty of $1,500.

But sometimes, making the move is
necessary to distract it from the squid.
3. Rig with circle hooks. You’ll
still catch the tunas, and you’ll get a
solid hook up with far more of the
whites that attack. I have to admit
I wasn’t sold on the idea until John
Unkart, the author of Offshore Pursuit (a great how-to offshore fishing
book), gathered hard data by fishing
circles and J’s side by side—and his
strike-to-hookup ratio went through
the roof. With different species of fish
circles may be more or less effective,
but when it comes to white marlin,
they’re WAY more effective.
4. Lower the volume level on
your boat. Marlin can hear (or at least
sense the vibrations) of things like
slamming hatches, sliding coolers,
and yelling people. Years ago I pulled
a hydrophone in the spread, and we
were shocked at just how clearly we
heard noises from the boat. Especially
the noise of people yelling. When
a billfish gets spotted in the spread
people often yell and shout as cockpit
mayhem ensues. And billfish often
disappear from the spread without
taking a single bait. Could there be a
connection?
5. Down-size the baits in your
spread, in general. Whites like smaller
baits, and often shy away from (or just
shred) bigger ballyhoo. Tuna and mahi,
meanwhile, will hit anything sized
such that they can eat it. The only
real penalty for using smaller baits is
a reduced chance at a blue marlin. If
you want to have a shot at one, deploy
one or two larger baits in the spread.
But as a rule of thumb, if you troll
smaller ballyhoo you’ll catch whites
a lot more often.
BONUS TIP: Chunkers, you’re not
necessarily out of this game. Most of
the time whites won’t eat a chunk of
fish floating around (though it does
happen on occasion) but if one happens by it will almost always eat a live
bait. Haul some live spot with you
the next time you run offshore, and

freeline them behind the boat. Better
yet, fly a kite and set a live spot just
beneath the surface—billfish will go
nuts for it. You can also rig a (small)
squid, and drop it under a kite so it
dances around tight on the surface. If
you see a fish circling it, grab the line
and yank it repeatedly to get the squid
jumping clear of the water. Both whites
and tunas will smash it with abandon.
Where should you go, to have a
better shot at whites? That’s a tossup at this point. There’s no way to
predict which canyon will be best at
this point, or even if the canyons will
necessarily offer a better shot than
some of the hotspots inside them. But
one thing is for sure: use these tactics
to modify your approach a bit, and if a
white marlin is in the vicinity, you’ve
got a great shot at hooking up.

King Solomon owned virtually everything that a man could own and yet
he exclaimed in Ecclesiastes 2:17 that he hated life. He had tried every
direction and yet found that life was full of vanity. Our world is full of
people who feel the same. Their problem is they are heading toward the
wrong goals.
Solomon tried wisdom, but he soon found that a full head and an empty
heart do not satisfy. He tried laughter, but only too soon came to realize
that there are serious things we must consider that laughter cannot cover.
He tried wine, thinking perhaps he could drown his troubled, but it only
increased them. He tried wealth. Solomon owned all that a man could
own. He was by far the wealthiest man of his day. But he soon found that
he could buy a bed, but he couldn’t buy slep. He tried wantoness. He had
700 wives and 300 concubines, but still he hated life. In all his wisdom he
states “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter, fear God, and obey
His commandments for this is the whole duty of man.”
Many in our day are heading toward the wrong goal that is going to leave
them unfulfilled and hating life. Fear God and obey his commandments.
This is the key to a happy life. Don’t take my word for it, take the word of
the wisest man (aside from the Lord Jesus) King Solomon.
This was the faith of our fathers and I trust that it is yours.

Dutch Baldwin sets snakehead record at 18.42 pounds
MARBURY, Md. - A Maryland man
bow-hunting fish out in the Potomac
River has set a new state record for
biggest catch of a snakehead fish.
Emory “Dutch” Baldwin III was
out on his boat with his bow-hunting
June 2016
partner Franklin Shotwell on May
20 when they went to check the flats
near Marshall Hall. Shotwell located
the huge northern snakehead on Baldwin’s side of the boat. Baldwin went
to work with his compound bow and
fired his arrow at the
fish. After what was
described as a tug-ofwar battle, Baldwin
was able to capture
the 18.42-pound
snakehead.
The Indian Head
man brought the fish
to the Gray Brothers
Market in Marbury
where it was weighed

catch.
Baldwin surpasses the record formerly held by Michael
Meade last October.
The Upper Marlboro man also used
a bow and arrow to
catch a 17.49-pound
northern snakehead
he caught along the
marshes of Mattawoman Creek.
Normally, Mary-
land state fishing records are only
awarded for fish caught by rod and
reel, but an exception is made for three
species of invasive fish – northern
snakehead, blue catfish and flathead
catfish. According to the Maryland
Department of Natural Resources,
“These species may be caught by any
legal recreational harvest method and
considered for state record recognition, but only if the fish is dispatched
and kept.”
Maryland authorities encourage the
catch of northern snakeheads as this
invasive fish species preys on native
fish in the waterways in our area.

from Jim Gronaw....
For some reason we are catching bluegills with body dynamics the likes of which I have
never seen in north central
Maryland. The females are
bulging with eggs due to the
pre-spawn almost to the point
of grotesqueness. I am thinking
that WR numbers for these fish
are almost off the charts. In a
lifetime of fishing, I have never
seen so many 10 to 11 inch
fish so heavy, both males and
females.
My brother Tom Gronaw
and I recently enjoyed some sensational bluegill fishing at a Mason Dixon area farm pond. The bluegills were actually briefly
'on bed' by April 20th of this year, (the earliest I have ever
seen) but quickly backed off as our water temperatures and
weather cooled way down for the past three weeks, delaying the
spawn from fish that were all but ready to drop eggs. Could this

Anyway, simple bait-tipped jigs in 1/32 or 1/64th ounce worked
great about 3-4 feet below a bobber. Most fish are well beyond
bedding sites and suspended over slightly deeper water in local
farm ponds and small public lakes. Look for bedding red ears soon
as some of them have move shallow as well.

“Tuna The Tide”
Fishing the Spring
Transition
By Captain Mark Galasso
During the winter and spring show
season I’m constantly asked the question “When does the Trophy season
end?” It’s really an impossible question to answer. And the fact is it really
depends on your definition of a trophy.
To most seasoned Bay fisherman a
trophy may be a fish over forty inches.
To a New England surf fisherman
that may be a fish over 50 inches. And
second guessing for most charter boats.
In mid May the size and bag limits
in Maryland change. This year from
the one fish over 35 inches to two fish
over 20 inches (only one of which can
be over 28 inches) on May 16th. So
the question becomes do we keep with
the larger spring baits and try to catch
a lingering forty incher? Or do we
start downsizing everything for more
action? Some boats will run half and
half. A few spring rigs mixed in with
a few smaller rigs. This is the time of
year that boats start experimenting
with other techniques. Every new day
in May more and more boats look for
fish to chum or jig on. Smaller boats
are starting to look for fish staging in
the warmer shallow waters to try a

yet to the father taking his eight year
old out for their annual fishing trip that
may be a fish over thirty inches. To
put it into context that would mean that
for a seasoned Northerner the Trophy
season in Chesapeake Bay is probably
over by the end of April while for a lot
of people we trophy fish year round
in the Bay. And the only difference
in how we catch that trophy is in the
techniques we use.
In April through the first couple
of weeks in May most anglers have
been trolling the traditional “Spring
Spread”. Large parachutes and swim
baits. Umbrellas with nine inch trailing
baits and large metal spoons. Basically
baits that mimic the Herring and large
Alwives that the fish are feeding on.
As we get farther into May however
more small bait is heading into the
open water. Mayworms are appearing
as well as smaller Peanut Bunker and
Bay Anchovies. As this new menu appears and the truly large Stripers head
for the Ocean the smaller fish show
up hungry from the winter and recent
spawning. This becomes a time of
12
little surface plugging.
In my particular case I try and be
prepared for everything. The jigging
rods are all rigged with half ounce
lead heads and 5 inch Bustem Baits in
Chartreuse and Albino. I tie a bunch
of hooks up for chumming so they
are ready to go. Most of my trolling
rods are now equipped with either
spoonbrellas or umbrellas rigged with
twistertails and 6 inch Swim Baits in
various colors. I try and weight these
with 10 to 20 ounce in line sinkers and
short leaders. As soon as the Blues
show up I can switch the swim baits
over to hoses. When I find a productive pattern I’ll switch all the baits
over to that.
I would say at this point we aren’t
really trophy hunting in my mind but
we are trying to catch the biggest fish
available for our clients. And the fact
is we do catch fish in the mid thirty
inch range until the season ends in December. And to the eight year old who
hooks that thirty incher on a surface
plug early one morning when they are
still half asleep. That’s a true trophy.

This Huge 90-Pound Flathead
Catfish is Oklahoma Lake Record
Pine Creek Lake Oklahoma has a new record flathead catfish, and it’s a
chunky thing!
There’s not a lot of details on the massive 90.7-pound flathead caught April
16 by Clint Johnson of Avery, Texas. We know he was using what is only referred to as “natural bait.” But no one can deny this isn’t an impressive fish.
However, have some stats
on the size of this flathead. It
was 52-inches long and had
an amazing 40.25-inch girth.
That’s a fat fish! In another
interesting detail, the catfish
was caught using a pretty
old-school method that you
don’t often hear about these
days: a trotline.
Even though Johnson’s
awesome cat is a new record
for the 3,750-acre Pine Lake
located in the southern part
of Oklahoma, you might be
surprised to learn it’s not
even close to the state record.
The record is a 106
pounder taken out of Wister Lake back in 1977, also
caught off a trotline.

Snow Goose Snacks!
Snow goose hunts can quickly produce a stockpile of meat. Many hunters simply breast out their
geese and ducks. The legs can also be used for soups
and stews. Some hunters claim that Snow geese
taste lousy. The solution to improve their taste is to
use marinate and a bit of bacon.
Cut the waterfowl breasts into bite size chunks.
Inspect the meat carefully for any pellets or debris.

Fly Fishing is
Easy!!!!
The other day I was fishing for trout below the
Tuckahoe River Dam in Caroline County. The water
was tea colored and reminded me of the Bighorn
River in Montana. Now I know that the eastern
shore of Maryland is not Montana and that fishing for fresh water trout in Caroline County is not
ordinary. The state of Maryland stocks trout there
fishing better. Every cast can result in a fish. Tie
every knot perfectly. Sharpen your hooks. Less false
casting means more time with your fly in the water.
Move quietly and slowly. Camouflage clothing and
hats makes you stealthy. Two flies are better than
one. Mend your line cleanly and less often. Choose
just a few fly patterns. These simple suggestions will
make you a better fisherman.
The best thing about fly fishing is that you will
never be perfect. There is always something new to
learn. Always be humble and willing to learn and to
teach. The best assessment of your skills is to try and
teach them to someone else.
Join a local fishing club and hook up with some
mentors to show you the lines. Many of us are fast
hands on learners. Reading the directions is always
a challenge especially for men. We are also visual learners and can watch how to do it correctly.
Find a Lefty Kreh fly casting video and pay attention. “Lefty” is the finest fly fisherman I have ever
known. His videos are simple and easy to understand.
The fishing Brother and Sisterhood is a friendly
society. The more honest and respectful fishermen
in our ranks ensures that our fishing resources will
remain. Without a voting and contributing population of ethical anglers, public fly fishing will disappear except for the wealthy. Just look at England and
Europe to see what I mean. Share, teach, learn, and
join the fly fishing family.

marinate available at most hunting camps. Another
choice is “Mr.Yoshida’s” marinate which has more
soy sauce and Asian flavors.
Marinate the waterfowl chunks for at least a few
hours or even a few days.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Cut bacon strips into pieces big enough to wrap
once around the meat chunks. Use a toothpick to
secure the bacon to each chunk. Place them onto a
baking sheet or cast iron fry pan. Bake for about 10
minutes until the bacon is crisp and the meat cooked
to your liking. A campfire Dutch Oven will also
work when afield.
Serve hot with a side or two of dipping sauces.
These can be as simple as Ranch or Bleu Cheese
dressings. Steak sauces such as A-1 or Heinz 57 are
for anglers to enjoy.
Among the crowd of bait fishermen I noticed the
sound and cast of a fly rod! A young man named
Dylan was stripping a wooly bugger through the
pool. The bait boys nearby watched in amazement
as Dylan fought and netted a hefty rainbow trout.
They cringed as he released the fish.
Fishing is about what you are doing and enjoying,
not so much about where. When we fish, we focus
on the small area we are in. That wonderful space
could be anywhere and is the size of our cast.
For many anglers, fly fishing is tough! The casting, knots, assortment of flies, entomology, and
skills required overwhelm many. Ironically, fly fishing is way easier than spin fishing. The longer rod is
easier to cast and the reel is simpler. Learning is fun
especially when it rewards you with a fish or two.
You can land bigger fish easier on a 9 foot rod than a
6 foot rod.
Fly fishing has been around for hundreds of
years. Spin fishing is a recent development. Like
anything new, you need to become a student of the
sport. What that means is that you need to find a
mentor, watch some videos, and practice. This is no
different than golf, sports, or games.

Coastal Report
By Capt. Mark
Sampson
From black drum to bluefish, yellowtail to
rockfish chumming is a technique used to attract
and catch many different types of fish in many
different parts of the world. And particularly
during the month of June there is a lot of chumming that goes on off Delmarva and it’s pretty
safe to say that most of it is done by folks who
are trying to catch sharks.
Even though sharks are sometimes caught
without the use of any chum at all, most anglers
will probably agree that chumming so greatly
enhances the chance of enticing a shark onto their
hook that few would even think of heading out
on a shark trip without bringing along something
to chum with. But even though almost all shark
fishermen will tout the benefits of chumming,
there has always been a measure of disagreement
among the ranks concerning the details of what it
takes to produce the most effective chum slick.
Before leaving the dock, anyone planning to
spend a part of their day chumming for sharks (or
any fish for that matter) will have to decide how
much chum they will need for the time they’ll be
fishing, what type of chum they’ll use, and how
they will deploy it. Knowing how much chum to
use pretty much comes with experience. Whether
it’s bunker, bluefish, mackerel, or a mix of unspecified species, what type of chum you use is
usually dictated by what the local shops have for
sale. Even if you make your own chum you’ll
be at the mercy of what you or other fishermen
have recently caught.
Because it is readily available, inexpensive,
and produces a very visible surface slick, bunker
has always been one of the most commonly used
fish for chum and is often available for sale at local tackle shops. Some shops also carry mackerel
chum, usually at a premium price, which some
anglers are willing to pay for what they consider
to be a more tempting to sharks. In some cases a
more generic chum is sold which is pretty much
a mix of fish species of whatever the fish house
was processing at the time.
So what’s best? Personally, if forced to choose
from the three types of chum I just mentioned I
would choose mackerel, mixed fish, and bunker
– in that order. I’d go with the mackerel first
because they’re in the scombridae family which
is the same family as the tunas which seems to
be a real favorite of sharks. Although bunker
chum can also be effective for sharks it’s such
a messy chum to work with that I avoid using it
when I can, and seeing (or not seeing) the classic
bunker-oil slick on the water is of no concern to
me and I don’t think the sharks either
410-726-7946
June 2016
When it comes to “how much” chum to use
– I’ve got some good news - and bad news. The
good news is that if you shark fishermen out there
would follow my advice you would save a lot of
money on chum. The bad news is that probably
99% of you won’t follow my advice! Consider
how much chum you use during a normal day
of sharking; a 5-gallon bucket, two buckets,
even more? How about the additives – do you
also “sweeten” the chum by chunking up fish to
throw out as added attractant? I’ve got news for
you, when it comes to attracting sharks to your
boat that you want to eat your baits – more is
NOT better!
Anglers should never underestimate the olfactory system of sharks, which allows them to pick
up on scents really-REALLY well, and it doesn’t
take much more than a little trickle in the water
for sharks to recognize that food is ahead and
bring them in to investigate. Flood the water with
a huge cloud of chum supplemented with chunks
of cut up fish and you run the risk of sharks, that
otherwise might have come up to your baits,
will simply hang back and slurp down the free
handouts. I like to put out just enough chum to
grab the sharks interest and then make sure that
any bite-size food that goes into the water has
a hook in it. I freeze my chum in one gallon
bags and figure that at the proper rate of flow,
one bag will last about 4-hours. So, depending
upon whether we’re fishing a full or half day,
I’ll bring one or two gallons of chum and that’s
it! Like I said, most anglers won’t take
my advice because everyone seems to
think that more is better.
Record Spring Turkey
Harvest in Maryland
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources
announced today that hunters reported harvesting a
total of 3,874 wild turkeys during the 2016 regular
spring and junior hunt turkey seasons that ended on
May 23. This year’s harvest is three percent higher
than 2015 (3,767), and well above the ten year
average of 3,131.
“The high harvest can be attributed to a combination of factors, including growing turkey populations,
excellent weather during the first week, and more
Sunday hunting opportunities across the state,” Wildlife and Heritage Service Director Paul Peditto said.
Garrett County reported the highest harvest this
year with 387 turkeys, followed by Washington
with 355. Rounding out the top five were Frederick
(299), Dorchester (274), and Charles (265). Hunters
in nine counties were able to hunt on Sundays this
year, which lead to a harvest of 251 turkeys.
Youth hunters kicked-off the spring turkey season
with the Junior Turkey Hunt on April 16 statewide and
April 17 in select counties. They took advantage of
the pleasant weather and harvested 193 wild turkeys.
It almost seems that shark anglers like
to make things difficult on themselves
because when it comes to deploying
the chum, too many are stuck using the
antiquated method putting their chum
buckets upside-down in a milk crate
with floats around it. This system will
work but it’s so much overkill. A simple
5-gallon bucket with a single small hole
about the size of a quarter in the lid is all
that’s needed. Tie a rope to the handle
of the handle of the bucket, put a frozen
one-gallon block of chum in the bucket
and fill the bucket ¾ full of water, put
the lid on the bucket and the bucket in
the water. The air pocket in the bucket
will make it float upside down and the
chum will slowly leach out of the lid at
the proper rate. It couldn’t be any simpler or effective for deploying the chum.
After more than 40-years of shark
fishing I’m guessing that I’ve tried just
about every chumming gimmick you
can imagine, from chicken blood to
I-V drippers, tiger shark livers to cages
filled with tuna carcasses, and in this
mid-Atlantic area nothing has been as
consistent at bringing in hungry sharks
as a slow steady flow
of ground-up chum.
There is a little bit of
science to chumming
as well as a little bit
of art. But it’s not
rocket science and
it’s not like trying to
paint a Picasso. Keep
it simple, keep it
light, and you’ll see
the best result from
your efforts.

Police Nab
Poachers; Charge
Crab Pot Thief
A month-long investigation across
two counties resulted in 16 deer
and turkey poaching citations being
issued to an Anne Arundel County
man, and other enforcement actions
from the Maryland Natural Resources
Police.
Charges were filed Wednesday
against Joshua Michael Sarro, 28, of
Glen Burnie, who is due in Dorchester
District Court on Aug. 17 and Anne
Arundel District Court on Aug. 19.
The investigation began in
Dorchester County in April, when
a citizen called to say he saw a man
shoot out the driver’s side window
of a Dodge pick-up truck toward a
field. The citizen took a photo of the
truck and its license plate and gave
it to officers.
Officers went to Sarro’s home and
saw a truck that matched the description with fresh blood, animal tissue
and a plastic bag in plain view in the
bed. They got a search warrant for
the truck and home.
The bag held a turkey carcass
and the truck cab contained turkey
calls and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
Inside the home, officers found
eight mounted deer racks. In the
freezer, they found two additional
turkey breasts containing shotgun
pellets, which Sarro claimed were
chicken breasts.
State records show Sarro, who
holds a hunting license, has never
checked in a turkey or deer.
Sarro was charged with: possessing the heads of eight bucks without
reporting them to the department;
failing to check in a sika deer; failing to check-in a white-tailed deer;
failing to report the harvest of a wild
turkey within 24 hours; failing to
record the confirmation number for
the harvest of a wild turkey on the
Big Game Harvest Record; having
a loaded weapon in a vehicle; hunting from a vehicle; shooting from a
roadway; and hunting on private land
without written permission.
Following up on complaints from
the public about crab pot thefts in
Dorchester County, officers set up
surveillance earlier this month along
Punch Island Creek near the Chesa-
peake Bay.
On consecutive days, they watched
Duane L. Elliott, 52, of East New
Market pull crab pots and conceal
the marker buoy. Officers determined
that the pots did not belong to him
and charged him on Sunday with two
criminal counts of theft, intentionally
interfering with legal fishing and fishing crab pots belonging to another.
Elliott is scheduled to appear in
Dorchester District Court on June 20
to answer for the criminal charges,
and on Aug. 17 on the two natural
resources charges. If found guilty
of all four violations, he could be
sentenced to as much as 18 months
in jail and fined up to $3,000.
Last Month, officers charged two
commercial fishermen with crabbing
violations after checking the area near
Hills Point in Dorchester County.
Windy Karpavage, 63, of Taylors
Island, was charged with setting five
crab pots in a restricted area.
John R. Abner, 52, of Chesapeake
Beach, was charged with setting 37
crab pots in a restricted area.
They are scheduled to appear in
Dorchester District Court on July 20.
If found guilty, each fisherman could
be fined up to $1,000.
While on patrol at the Bill Burton
Fishing Pier in Talbot County on
Sunday, an officer checking fishing
licenses asked two men if they had
caught any fish. One of them pointed
to a bucket, which contained 10
striped bass.
Ming Chen, 38, of Clinton, and
Yongsheng Guan, 33, of Germantown, received citations for exceeding the daily catch limit and catching
striped bass in a closed area.
Both men are scheduled to appear
in Talbot District Court on July 21.
If found guilty, each man could be
fined up to $3,000.

Ingredients
1 1/2 lbs. shrimp uncooked, peeled and deveined
2 tbs. butter
3/4 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped celery
1/4 cup chopped green peppers
1 tbs. chopped parsley
1 clove minced garlic
2 cups fully cooked ham
1 lb. Hot Italian venison sausage thawed, with casings removed
1 28 oz. can tomatoes undrained and diced
1 10.5 oz. can beef broth
1 10.5 oz. can water
1 cup uncooked long grain rice
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. dried thyme leaves crushed
1/2 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
Instructions
Melt margarine in dutch oven. Add onion, celery, green pepper, parsley
and garlic. Cover and cook until tender. Add remaining ingredients, except
shrimp. Cover and simmer 25 min or until rice is tender. Add shrimp and
simmer uncovered to desired consistency and until shrimp are cooked
about 5-10 min. Make enough for leftovers, sometimes after 24 hours the
flavor is even better.
Imagine if you could learn to shoot safely and effectively at home saving you
time and money you don’t have. Well, now
you can! Navy SEAL Shooting teaches
you the groundbreaking training method
developed by one of the most respected
firearms instructors in the world, retired
Navy SEAL Chris Sajnog. With easy-tofollow, step-by-step instructions and 385
illustrations, this book covers everything
you need to know to make effective
shots in any high-stress situation. You
will learn to plan your training, improve
your accuracy and speed, shoot while
moving, and clear malfunctions. Plus discover every manipulation needed for any
semi-automatic pistol or rifle. Whether in
combat, competition or just safely and confidently protecting yourself or your
family, this book will help you dominate any opponent.
“I’ve been shooting professionally as a law enforcement veteran and as
a civilian gun owner for more than 30 years. After reading Chris Sajnog’s
new book Navy SEAL Shooting one thing was immediately clear to me: This
is the single best shooting book ever written.
I’ve directly participated in more than 1,000 hours of “professional” practical and tactical firearms training all over the U.S. No instructor I know can
bring the same subject matter expertise and instructional ability that Sajnog
has demonstrated in this book, not even close.
The book’s content is highly technical and game changing. However, Sajnog presents his wisdom in a way that makes it easy to grasp as a reader and
perhaps more importantly, how to apply as a shooter. Novice or expert, this
is a ‘must have’ book for any shooter looking to improve his or her craft!”
