WARNING: Jay D. Salmonson is a vector of the severely contagious maker
epidemic. This condition is transmitted through extended exposure to
the acoustic emanations of an infected individual such as Dr. Salmonson.
Symptoms of this affliction include hyperactive creativity and the ability to
invent, design and build almost anything, leading to delusions of omnipotence and grandeur. When not spreading the maker pathogen, Dr. Salmonson is under quarantine as a physicist at Lawrence Livermore Lab, designing experiments on the world’s largest laser: the National Ignition Facility.
Take Jay’s Robotics class on page 7.
Brian Copeland:
Not a Genuine Black Man
at Las Positas College / Livermore, CA / Feb 9, 2016 / 7:30pm
The longest running solo show in San Francisco history, Not A Genuine Black Man, reveals a little-known chapter of Bay Area history. In
1971, San Leandro, CA was named one of the most racist suburbs in
America. Congressional hearings were held. The next year, the then
eight-year-old Brian Copeland and his African-American family moved
to San Leandro. In a monologue that’s both funny and poignant, Brian
explores how surroundings make us who we are.
“A beautiful mix of wry humor and heartbreak, indignation and inspiration, a singular story of extreme isolation that
speaks to anyone who’s ever felt out of place.”

Helping Older Children Become
Responsible and Independent
DED BY
CLASSES AD MAND
DE
POPULAR
Lack of responsibility is a common complaint of parents of
older teens and young adults. We expect our children to get
a good education, grow up, and move away from home. Many
children struggle with this. Problems may begin with a high
school student performing below his ability or may show up
after graduation where the child seems unmotivated to work
hard in college, learn a trade, or get a job. As parents, there is
much we can do to help our children learn to be responsible and
become independent. This class will teach you what to do in the
teen years to help your child successfully navigate the path to
becoming an independent and self-sufficient adult. It will also
cover how to help a ‘’failure to launch’’ child make the difficult
transition from adolescence to adulthood (being independent
and self-sufficient). As a parent you have a critical role in this
process (Suitable for parents of children 13 to 25). Tom Dozier
is a behaviorist and parenting coach, and he has a board certification in behavior analysis. See www.guaranteedpt.com for
more information about Tom and the skills he teaches. Tom and
his wife Pam have 4 children and 6 grandchildren.
