master of Italian cuisine, Maestro Gualtiero Marchesi, provides the inspiration behind the
cuisine prepared by Head Chef Osvaldo Presazzi and his team. The lake takes center stage
on and off the plate, with local produce and freshwater fish featuring predominately on the
menu. The food is contemporary, but not fussy, like Marchesi’s signature dish: saffron
risotto garnished with a single square gold leaf. Guests may want to sample the lavaret, a
whitefish straight out of the lago, which is served simply with butter and sage. Or for a
more dramatic main course, choose one of the flambé dishes prepared tableside with all of
the ceremony you would expect. No matter what you choose, as you sip a local vintage and
gaze over toward the twinkling lights of Bellagio on the opposite shore, you will take your
place in a long list of guests to say “Ain’t it grand?”
Average Price without Wines: Euro 70 w/o beverages (All Credit Cards accepted)
Air Conditioning: al fresco dining on a covered terrace (air conditioning only inside in
the Sala Contessa dining Room) – in spring and autumn, the terrace is enclosed in glass

whitefish straight out of the lago, which is served simply with butter and sage.
DAY 2
Breakfast at the hotel
This morning we will enjoy a wonderful hike to one of the most beautiful
churches in the central lake area offering the most incredible picture postcard
views of one of Europe’s most stunning areas.
From Tremezzo, with our local expert guide, we will enjoy a leisurely walk along the
lakeshore towards the Western Coast and the town of Cadenabbia, famous for its beautiful
Azaleas and Rhododendrons and in the past its very elegant Grand Hotel. From the Lake
Shore or hike begins along quaint cobbled stone lanes and steps which will take us up
through the backstreets of Griante – a small, characteristic village proudly sat on the
hillside – here we will have the opportunity to mix with the locals and stop for a
cappuccino at the local bar in the heart of the village. Leaving Griante behind we begin our
hike up the hillside following the lanes, footpaths and fields which will take us to the
Church of San Martino which dates back to the 16th century. While, it is most likely that the
Church will be closed, nowadays they only open for Festivals and Special Religious
celebrations, the views that you will enjoy from here across the entire central lake area, the
promontory of Bellagio, the Grigne Mountain Range and the Alps will literally take your
breath away. A stop here to enjoy a snack which you have brought with you is

This afternoon enjoy your time at leisure in the charming and exclusive Lake
Como…enjoy exploring the local villages!
Within a relatively small area, Lake Como is surrounded by a rich and varied landscape
which one cannot find anywhere else in Italy. Encircled by the Pre-Alps, Lake Como has
been the much sought after destination of different civilizations since ancient times and
has been the chosen residence of numerous historical figures, from Royals to artists.
The towns which lie along the lakeside have been built with the local stone. Groups of
houses, 18th century villas and luxurious parks seem to rise up "as if by magic" out of the
waters. The city of Como is a center of artistic and cultural importance, combined with
flourishing industrial and commercial activity. Como is famous for the production of
precious silk, exported throughout the world. Another well known towns along the lakeside
are Cernobbio, Menaggio, Colico, Varenna, Lecco e Bellagio, ant the romantic isola
Comacina.

Pompeii which was buried under cinder from 79 A.D. in of the most disastrous volcanic
eruptions, today provides us with first class evidence of how the way of life was in a Roman
city during the time of the Roman Empire. This site is located in an extremely attractive
setting and your guide, who will meet you in Pompeii will not only make this city become
alive for you but she can rebuild the city before your very eyes. The Roman Forum, the
Basilica, the town centre, the stores, the fast food places, the Stabian Baths with their
separate men/women sections, the swimming pools, the hot and cold rooms which are in
an amazingly excellent state of preservation, this is all there to be lived, enjoyed and
understood, learn how life over the centuries or should we say way of life has changed very,
very little. What to some people may be a few old rocks and stones is in fact one of the most
beautiful cities of a past Roman Empire.
(Tour duration: 4 hours – 2 entrances for Pompeii included)

DAY 11
Breakfast at the hotel
Enjoy a very special day visiting the beautiful Island of Capri with your local
expert guide.
Our Tour today will take us from your Positano with your guide on the hydrofoil to Capri.
As we cross the sea our guide will introduce us not only to the Sorrentina Peninsula and
Bay of Naples but also the beautiful island of Capri. On arrival we will enjoy exploring the
port area, known locally as Marina Grande. From the port we will take the funicular up to
Capri Town, which is a charming white town which is daily worn down with the treat of
many visitors. The architecture of Capri Town complements the islands natural beauty and
much of what we consider to be typical and home made Mediterranean building can be
seen here in the older quarters of the town. Not only will you find beautiful stores here in
Capri town but also there are plenty of moulded arches, domes, narrow streets and
stairways to explore. Once explored we will taxi up to the higher level and town of Ana
Capri which was once a fierce rival of Capri town. Whilst also elegant Ana Capri has more
of a rustic air to it and here you will see many olive streets, surrounding vineyards and a
more simple Moorish style of architecture. As well as the main areas we can visit the Piazza
San Nicola and its 18th century Church of San Michele, the Church of Santa Sofia and from
Piazza Vittoria we can head over to the Villa San Michele of Acel Munthe. For the more
adventurous, you can take a chairlift to the summit of Monte Solaro – the highest point on
the island from where the views are quite stunning. Following our visit to these areas of
Capri we return to the Marina Grande with the taxi to catch the hydrofoil back to Positano
(Tour duration: 8 hours - Hydrofoil return tickets from Positano to Capri, Funicular tickets
and local taxi transfer on the island included).

characteristic features of Positano is the architecture of the houses: cubes, painted white,
pink, red, orange, almost all with a small porch in front, some with a spherical dome. The
entire built up area is surrounded by green palm and citrus groves, which makes it
particularly delightful.
This evening enjoy the most romantic Italian dining experience in one of the
most famous restaurants in Italy – Don Alfonso.
Here you will enjoy a very unique candle light-dinner experience with the special tasting
menu to enjoy the possibility to taste the best dishes of this exceptional restaurant. During
the dinner you can enjoy a selection of regional wines which have been especially chosen to
compliment the dishes. Dinner ends with a vertical descent into the Wine Cellar from
vaults that were built at the turn of the last century, through lower cellars of the 16th and
17th centuries, down to an extraordinary tunnel that was dug out of the tufa hillside in the
Roman era. Inside, the temperature is perfect for the 'king' Barolo, the bubbles of
Franciacorta, the big super-Tuscans and rising stars of southern Italy. All guests will
receive pasta and tomato sauce as a farewell gift as they are the two items which represent
the main ingredients of the Region dishes.
