Saturday 25th May The Do’s and Don’ts of Public Reporting of Exploration Results & Mineral Resources How the new JORC Code, NI43-101 and other codes work. By Gerry Fahey and Graeme Jeffress. 2 This one-day workshop is designed to give participants a good understanding of the best practices in producing code-compliant, responsible public reports. It delivers a sound understanding, at a theoretical and practical level, of what a Competent person is and how they go about reporting their work publicly. The CRIRSCO family of reporting codes provide guidelines, standards, definitions and provides mandatory systems for communicating the work of mining companies. Gerry and Graham will speak about competency, transparency and materiality and what they mean in practice for public reporting. The workshop will cover the following: Details • Why we need reporting Codes AIG and/or members of sponsor societies and companies: • Overview of Reporting Codes and explanation of key concepts and terms • Discussions of the different Codes, their similarities and differences $570.00 • “If not, why not” reporting requirements and JORC Table 1 $770.00 • The role of Competent/Qualified Persons, attribution requirements, responsibilities and authority Minimum number: 32 • How to interpret and apply the relevant code for your area of operation Non-members: Maximum number: 100 • Examples of compliant and non-compliant reports in terms of both the 2004 and 2012 Codes • Using Reporting Codes and producing reports and media releases with confidence Group interaction and case studies are used to illustrate and reinforce workshop concepts. This workshop is highly recommended for anyone involved in the process of communicating the results of publically-listed resource exploration and mining companies. The epithermal Au-Ag component by Greg Corbett uses Pacific Rim exploration examples to initially consider some geological exploration tools (alteration, structure and breccias), and then how an analysis of the controls to mineralisation (host rocks, structure, style of mineralisation and mechanism of Au deposition) might help to target discoveries, or understand known ore systems. The Carlin deposit component will present the geology, styles of hydrothermal alteration and mineralization, geochemical expression and geophysical signature of Carlin-type gold deposits. Examples include deposits and districts in Nevada, Southeast Asia, China and elsewhere. The course will focus on vectors to ore and successful methods that have been applied towards deposit discovery. This course will be of interest to exploration- and mine- geologists who wish to learn more about the characteristics of these important gold deposit types. PresenterS greg corbett – Greg is a consultant exploration geologist with over 30 years of experience in epithermal and porphyry deposits in over 30 countries. He is a well-known provider of short courses to the exploration industry and past president of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists (AIG).
