26th Annual “Young Achievers”

This year, the Lexington Young Achievers Program, will sponsor the 26th Annual “Young Achievers” in cooperation with the
International Leadership Network (ILN) a non-profit, charitable, 501 (c) (3) organization. The purpose of this program is to honor 4th and 7th
graders in our community who serve as positive role models and to provide positive recognition at an early age. This program gives younger
children more positive role models to look up to among their peers.
The local “Young Achievers” program has been affiliated with the International Leadership Network since its inception, with Holifield
Photography beginning the local program in 1990. In 2015, over 800 students were nominated to the local program from 50 elementary and
middle schools in Fayette County. “Young Achievers” has been an approved program by the National Association of Secondary School
Principals since 1990.
In order to be eligible for this recognition, students must:
1. Be a 4th Grader or 7th Grader during the 2015 - 2016 school year.
2. Maintain an A/B grade average.
3. Participate and serve as a positive role model for their peers in school, religious and community sponsored organizations.
4. Volunteer in their community and exhibit good citizenship in their school.
5. Receive awards for exceptional achievement.
6. Have a special talent in science, art, dance, music, sports, theatre, etc.
The nominated student must participate in each of the following activities:
1.
Completion of the Nomination Form by Friday, February 26 2016.
2. Orientation at Holifield Photography for information about the program, photography session and photographic displays.
3. Be photographed by Holifield Photography for school displays* as well as media recognition by June 30, 2016.

Local Awards
•
One student from each school will be named the top outstanding “Young Achiever” from their school during the 2016-2017 school
year and receive:
- Recognition in the Lexington Herald-Leader
- Recognition in TOPS Magazine
- Recognition on the Fayette County Public School’s television network, channel 13.
- “Gold Medallion” inscribed with the Young Achievers logo
- Young Achievers T-shirt
National Awards
National awards are presented each year by the International Leadership Network. Announcements of national winners will take place before
the end of the 2016-2017 school year. In 2013, Lauren Bolt from Tates Creek Middle School was the national winner for “Middle School
Young Achiever of the Year.” In 2014, Graham Wilson from Athens-Chilesburg Elementary was the national winner for “Elementary School
Young Achiever of the Year.”

Photographic Displays
Students will be photographed at Holifield Photography and their portraits will be on display at Fayette Mall and at their school*
in recognition of their accomplishments during the 2016-2017 school year.

interests and future plans.
