Welcome to IFWA 2016 Conference
The Association of Women Accountants Ghana (AWAG)
is pleased to invite you to join us for IFWA 2016, which
will be held from March 30 2016 to April 02, 2016 at the
plush Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, Ghana. I hope that
you will seize this opportunity to rekindle on going
networks and start new ones with colleague female
accountants from around the world. This serves a great
opportunity to revive the activities of women accountants
globally and contribute to development and growth within
our respective countries. In this conference we will join
our intellectual forces to think and bring about change.
For those of you hearing about The International
Federation of Women Accountants (IFWA) for the first time, IFWA is the brain
child of the Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria and was inaugurated in
January 1995 with its founding member countries Nigeria, Ghana, Benin, Sierra
Leone, Kenya, Gambia, and Zimbabwe.
The objectives of IFWA include the following:1. To provide a forum for women in the accountancy profession to help each other
to grow and develop in their various professional careers and businesses.
2. To promote accountancy knowledge, render accountancy advice and aid
to the public.
3. To participate in activities that will enhance the strategic professional and
managerial skills of its members.
4. To promote unity and prestige of its members.
5. To promote and support all activities of the International Federation of
Accountants (IFAC)
Since its inception, IFWA has held meetings in Nigeria, Ghana, Benin, and Sierra
Leone. IFWA 2016 serves to revive and expand the membership of IFWA
projecting it onto the global stage. The theme for IFWA 2016 Conference:
Building Stronger Institutions to Mitigate Corruption; Development from the
Bottom Up: The Role of the Professional Woman seeks to empower and give
a voice to the professional woman to champion a corruption free society through
advocacy, capacity building among women organizations, community
development, and affirmative action. At this 4 day conference, March 30 – April
02, 2016 women accountants will engage with media, civil society organizations,
and interested groups to interrogate, and dialogue on practical ways to contribute
to the anti-corruption agenda.
Additionally the conference will offer ample opportunities for you to connect with
other women accountant associations to learn, share ideas, and experiences.
Each of us is charged with making IFWA a truly global association and I cordially
invite you to participate in IFWA 2016 and all other activities of IFWA.
I look forward to seeing you in Accra, Ghana
Warm regards,
Agnes Yeboah
IFWA President
