KELSEY CABLE
Founded in 1978 by Bill Kelsey and Jim Morris, Kelsey Acoustics (then
named Kelsey-Morris) started life as a PA and mixing console supplier
for the touring market. Soon after it became apparent that substandard
interconnections were all too prevalent, badly affecting the quality of
sound systems. Richard Vickers (who was then working with them) became
passionate about interconnection technology and when he acquired the
business from Bill Kelsey in 1991 he focussed the company’s energy and
expertise in this area. Kelsey Acoustics was born…
Since then, Kelsey has grown from strength to strength, adding connectors,
hardware and mains distribution technology to its portfolio. It is now one
of the leading professional cable and interconnection brands worldwide.
Truly committed to providing top quality solutions, Kelsey has invested
much time and expertise in creating a range of cables for the professional
audio and lighting industry. Technological advancements require we stay
in a state of constant evolution, tailoring our cables to ensure they make
the best use of today’s resources and transmission requirements.
Kelsey cable has a strong reputation for excellent performance and
reliability, forming the backbone of many worldwide touring systems and
the infrastructure to countless studios, theatres and music venues. We
use oxygen-free copper (OFC) for purer signal transmission and carefully
select insulation materials to enhance electrical properties and maintain
flexibility. Our focus is, and always has been, to ensure the superior
performance of each and every cable we produce.
Reliable cable and interconnection solutions for a demanding world
Multipair
The Universal series from Kelsey adopts the strongest aspects of contemporary
cable design and technology to offer a range of installation multipairs that can be
implemented for both analogue and digital AES-EBU applications. Each cable in the
range is highly engineered for purpose with a tough high-flex jacket. Each twisted
pair is individually jacketed and shielded, with clear numeric indicators along each
core. The application of Easy-Strip technology enables both jacket and foil screen to
be stripped in one action, cutting wiring time significantly.
Modelled on the popular UNI multipair range, CS-UNI adopts the same electrical and
mechanical characteristics with an LSZH jacket*. Unlike many other LSZH multipairs,
CS-UNI has a tough yet flexible outer jacket, even at low temperatures.
New to the Kelsey cable family, ATM-ES analogue touring multipairs offer a rugged,
reliable solution for high-strength multi-channel requirements. Designed around the
firmly established UNI series it offers high tensile strength with a resilient structure
for the rigours of touring. Easy-Strip jacket pairs enable fast on-site wiring, with
colour-coded insulation for phase identification.

Speaker
A comprehensive range of purpose-built professional speaker cables, Kelsey’s SPL
is used extensively in the touring, hire and theatre industries. The tough polymer
jacket is designed to retain the internal core formation whilst the wall thickness
and elasticity gives protection from knocks and scrapes on the road. Built for
optimum handling and electrical performance, it remains one of the most flexible
and easy to rig (even under very cold conditions) professional speaker cables
on the market. Core stranding is optimised for flexibility and high frequency
conductivity without compromising reliability and ease of termination. Each core
is comprised of oxygen-free copper (OFC) and individual jackets are coloured for
easy identification.
The CS Contractor Series adopts the excellent characteristics of SPL with the
added benefit of an abrasion-resistant LSZH jacket*. An easy-glide finish ensures
it can be dragged smoothly through conduit, across surfaces and across other
cables. Designed specifically for speaker interconnection, CS is ideal for 100V line
(constant voltage) installations.

Microphone
The ATM range was developed by Kelsey to meet a high demand for superior professional
microphone cable. The outstanding performance of the ATMIC range has made it
the ultimate choice for studios and touring companies for many years. Its durability,
exceptionally low capacitance, low noise and high copper content gives superior
performance whilst the sturdy yet flexible composite jacket easily endures the rough
use expected from life on the road. ATMIC utilises an anti-kink design, high flexibility
and cotton fillers to help eliminate microphony.
DMC is a fully digital AES-EBU compliant, DMX microphone/data cable with an LSZH
jacket* designed for professional use. The inner foil shield helps maintain a constant
110Ω impedance with a tough overall copper braid to strengthen the cable structure
and boost noise rejection. The tinned OFC twisted conductor pair provides a balanced
line with excellent common-mode rejection and low capacitance. These strong digital
attributes enable Kelsey DMC to be used for anything from stage and studio microphone
use to DMX and RS485 data applications.
ATM-ST is a specialist starquad microphone cable designed for analogue broadcast
applications. It has a 98% coverage helical copper screen for excellent electromagnetic
and radio frequency interference rejection. The cable has been specifically engineered for
low noise and high performance in environments susceptible to high levels of electronic
interference. The tough jacket absorbs vibration and maintains a constant impedance,
with natural cotton fillers added to help eliminate microphony and aid flexibility.
Kelsey PATCH is an advanced professional mini microphone cable designed for short
microphone runs, rack interconnection and patching with a reduced overall diameter
designed to fit Neutrik® bantam plugs and slimline jacks. The OFC twisted pair with
helical copper screen ensures exceptional performance, extremely low capacitance
and low noise for accurate signal transmission. Added Kevlar fillers help eliminate
microphony and increase core strength and flexibility without impairing audio detail.
The sturdy composite jacket easily endures the rigours of touring and studio use.

Coax & Data
Kelsey’s range of serial digital SDI/SDV type coaxial cables have been developed
as an ideal alternative for industry-standard BBC PSF1/3 coax in digital and
analogue applications. The precision engineering employed in the cable design
and construction results in flexible, high-performance cable with very close
tolerances suitable for accurate HD transmission. The dielectric insulator is
foamed with nitrogen for much better propagation of high frequencies. Kelsey
SD cable is double-screened with an inner precision aluminium foil to maintain
exact impedance and a copper woven braid for better electrical noise rejection
characteristics. This high-quality digital video cable is available in both single and
6-core configurations. New to the series, SD-LL offers the same characteristics
in a low-loss format equivalent to Image 1000. Both SD-1 & SD-LL have an LSZH
jacket* for public installation.
ATM1/3 is a precision 75Ω double-screened analogue video cable with a tough PVC
outer jacket and excellent transmission characteristics. The foamed polyethylene
insulation provides a high dielectric constant for signal accuracy with a dual-layer
tinned copper braided screen to block out noise and interference. Used throughout
the broadcast industry, ATM1/3 is designed to BBC PSF1/3 specifications.
MINICOAX5 contains five individually screened 75Ω analogue video coaxial cores
formed of foamed polyethylene with a high dielectric constant for excellent
transmission purity and accuracy. The miniature-format cable is constructed in
such a way to maintain stable impedance with close tolerances for low loss and
low reflection. MINICOAX5 can be terminated with standard RG179 connectors for
short-run multi visual feeds, breakout VGA cables and rack wiring.
DURACAT is a durable Cat5e-rated data cable double-jacketed with an LSZH
compound*. The four twisted pairs are double-shielded to provide immunity
from interference and maintain steady impedance, ensuring integrity of the data
signal. The robust construction renders it suitable for both installation and touring
requirements and is specifically designed for compatibility with standard RJ45 and
Neutrik® etherCON connectors. DURACAT can be used for Gigabit ethernet.
