Untitled - Calvary Albuquerque
In 1982, Skip began a home Bible study which eventually grew into Calvary of Albuquerque. Calvary of Albuquerque ministers to over 14,000 adults and their children every weekend. Several other churches have spun off from Calvary of Albuquerque, including churches in Arizona, Colorado, and other parts of New Mexico. are we there yet? Skip & Le ny a, A bq. Moving into a former sports complex in 1986, Calvary was poised to put down roots and was given a platform for explosive growth in the years to come. Calvary of Albuquerque was the fastest growing church in America according to Dr John Vaughn of Church Growth Today. Great coffee can produce great inspiration, and it was here that the idea for the Servant Connection School of Ministry came into being. More than fifteen classes have now graduated from the SOM, and hundreds of students have been enriched and expanded by attending the School of Ministry. “howdy” mexi 1st s heph e gimm rd’s e a p ulpit schoo l p Al, Bill, & Ski co m issio ns don’t drink the water Regular trips to Israel, expanding missions and large scale evangelism all marked the growth of Calvary in the 1990’s. Greg Laurie, Raul Ries, Billy and Franklin Graham would all conduct crusades during this decade. Easter Sunrise services moved from Dukes Stadium to Lobo Stadium and soon became the largest church service in the state of New Mexico. Calvary’s growth was not restricted to Albuquerque, however, Calvary church plants stripes? soon touched most major cities in New Mexico, then beyond. Tucson, Denver, El Paso, Colorado Springs and many other cities would see new thriving fellowships as a result of CCABQ outreach. Internationally, Uganda, Mexico and England were just a few of the countries that saw Calvary establish significant works. More than 35 churches have sprung up from Calvary of Albuquerque. . . . the uttermost ion church renovat . mer. bum ip h wors y ad alre ed. t star ing Morn y a d n Su KNKT radio ve a r D o t Pas ing iz bapt e styl exas T KNKT and KLYT radio expanded the reach of Calvary outside the walls at 4001 Osuna. Sunday morning services were soon heard by an additional 20,000 by way of live broadcasts on both stations. But it was the internet that became an international megaphone, and Calvary was ready to ride this new technological wave. Using the web for teaching, information and outreach, Calvary would soon have nearly twenty different web sites to represent the various media and ministry groups on campus. 2004 saw a new face in the pulpit as Pete Nelson assumed the role of Pastor Pete Senior Pastor of Calvary. n Pas Ala r o t o we d Can gain? a that This will put hair on your chest. te Renova y ministr Women @ C alvary e on th e e e f le cof Gali f o a Se Skip Heitzig returned to Calvary in Easter Sun rise the summer of 2006.
