The primary choices of engagement ring and wedding band colours include:
The rings you choose will be one of, if not the most, enduring piece of your wedding. Your
rings are not just a part of your wedding, they are also a symbol of your care and love for each
other. Therefore, you will need to choose what rings you get very carefully.
The most traditional of metals for rings. For some, gold is a symbol of the warmth and love.
The mark inside the band can be used to see what quality the gold is. The most common
qualities are 14k, 18k, or 24k. While 24k is the purest gold, it is also the softest. If you use
your hands a lot you may want to choose 14k or 18k to prevent wear and tear.
Engagement Ring Styles:
Since they will be wearing the ring for the rest of their lives, it is best to plan out the type of
rings you desire. There are a few different ways to choose rings. The first option is to pick out
an engagement ring together, however this will require proposing without a ring. While this
does make sure that she likes the ring that she will have, some people strongly feel that this
route robs the engagement of romance. On the other hand, you may be able to take their
best friend or a family member for some special bonding time while you pick out a ring. The
other option is to study the type of jewelry that they wear. You will need to know what type
of metal they prefer, keep in mind some people are allergic to certain metals, and the kind
of look they prefer. If you do not know their ring size it can help to “borrow” one of their
current rings so you are able to get a good match.

White is hot trend because it matches well with silver and platinum jewelry without being as
expensive as platinum.
Platinum:
A very stylish and strong metal. Its strength makes it a fitting symbol of enduring love.
Because it’s not mixed with lesser metals, like gold is, platinum is a safe choice for those with
allergies. However, platinum is much more expensive than yellow or white gold.
Wedding Band Styles:
The best path to follow when choosing your wedding band is to follow your instincts. Keep in
mind that is a choice you will have to live with so do not choose rashly. The traditional plain
gold wedding band will be in style for years to come. If you are not interested in a plain look
you can find simple wedding bands with designs engraved on them. Another option is to be
a bit flashier with insetted jewels in the band. Some couples also prefer to have something
engraved on the ring.

out of cake, fondant and rice crispies. I have been in business for 5 years creating cakes for
Medicine Hat and surrounding areas. Some of these cakes need structure because believe
me cakes like to fall if they get the chance, so you really have to think about the stability of
the cake without compromising flavor. I’ve created cakes for all sorts of events and made
cakes to donate to different charities across the city. Creak Break was also nominated for Best
New Business of the Year so that was exciting. We have also designed cakes for Canada Day
drawing lines of people to see what we created for that year. You have to have a bit of an art
background and be able to visualize cakes in your mind to make them a reality. I’m so happy

Food & Beverage Tips
Most hotels will be reluctant to give quotes on food prices more than half a year ahead.
Therefore, be sure to include a percentage increase to your budget over your current pricing.
Taxes and services charges should also be included in your budget! Do not forget!
Before you sign your banquet event orders read the terms and make sure they match your
contract. If they do not match mark through them and make a note to check the contract.
Once you receive your guarantee you will be charged the guarantee or actual number. After
this you cannot decrease the guarantee, however, you can increase it.
Hotels will typically prepare for three to five percent more than your guarantee. You should
also request that all the food and beverage set up be ready fifteen minutes before the serving
time. Make sure that beverages served individually are charged upon consumption.

The larger your attendance the more flexible your order will be to control cost, and depending
on the size of items, i.e. cookies or brownies, request to have them cut in half for smaller
serving sizes.
If you are scheduling a small meeting, many hotels will charge a service fee for groups around
25 to 30 or under. If you need to determine the actual number of attendees ask the hotel
what their policy is. Some may base the fee on seats, while others on plates.
Make sure to keep the hotel updates with any changes in your estimated number of attendees
at least one to two months prior to the event. Always send your food and beverage order to
the hotel one or two weeks prior to the event. The hotel will send you an Event Order to sign
and return within two to three days prior to service.

Tips:
If you are in doubt, order a smaller amount and then increase your order when you are onsite. If your meeting or event takes place over multiple days check how much you used on the
first day and increase or decrease your order accordingly. If your hotel allows this of course.
If you have a limited budget place a minimum order and inform them to replenish up to a
specified amount, and also to check with you before replenishing anything.
Receptions:
Half of attendees will stay for a cash bar after a meeting, generally. Average one and a half
drinks per person for a one hour cash bar.
On average eighty percent of attendees will stay for a host bar. About two and half drinks will
be consumed per person at a one hour host bar.
You can estimate five glasses of wine per bottle, with three glasses of wine per person at a two
hour event. If it is a seated dinner you can estimate half a bottle of wine per guest.
Tips for Food:
Remember that food requiring plates and cutlery will be more expensive, where as “finger
foods” tend to be cheaper. People will also eat less when they are not loading a plate
themselves. Another way to control consumption is to have a Butler Service. When servers are
passing trays of food around people will ask what each item is which slows consumption. You
can control this even more by having your food set out on a schedule rather than all at once.
Remember that people will eat less if the food is scheduled right after a meet. When people
have time to go back to their room to relax and change they will be able to enjoy the food
more and then eat more. The less people consume any salty, greasy, or spicy food, the less
they will have to drink. Provide seating for only 20 to 30 percent of the guests to discourage
people from sitting to eat.
Tips for Bars:
Bartender fees are a standard cost that are based off of a set amount of time per bartender. The
fees will sometimes be waived based on a minimum amount of sales at the bar.
In the first hour of a reception people will eat about seven hors d’oeuvres on average.

It can be hard to pick a photographer, so
here are a few factors that shouldn’t influence
your choice:
Studios Shooting 300 Weddings a Year
Experience is a must. But busier doesn’t
mean better. If they can book this many
weddings a year then either they shoot
back-to-back weddings, or they hire other
photographers to fill shoot for them.
Venue Recommendees
Some venues will have portfolios for booking
couples to see possible photographers to
choose from. But some venues charge for it.
Be careful not to go with someone who paid
their way up a list.
Family
While having family photograph your
wedding for you, there are some risks to it.
If something goes wrong you can end up
with bad blood between you two. Weddings
also require a lot of work. Just because your
family member can shoot some things,
doesn’t mean they can handle everything a
wedding has to offer.

Normally this is a good reason to pick a
photographer But don’t make it your only
reason. Get in touch with them and see if
your personalities click. If you are going to
have them at your side on your big day, make
sure you two can work well together.

Music Planning
Music is one of the most important parts
of your reception and as such needs to be
carefully planned out. Music creates a certain
atmosphere in a wedding or gathering, and
special music can make your event unique.
When choosing your music keep in mind a
few things, the age and preferences of your
guests, budget, and restrictions the site may
have.
For live music there are many choices. You
can have a band, an orchestra, hire a DJ, or a
combination of any musician and vocalist.
Keep in mind though that with whatever
choice you go with that they should have
previous experience performing at weddings
and events.
If you need to have a large variety music it
would be best to hire a DJ. A DJ can play a
wide variety of music and some even provide
a light show. You are able to give them a list
of the songs you would like played as well as
the order to play them in, just make sure that
there is an electrical source near where they
will be performing.
If you wish to save money you will get
generally get a better deal to hire a band
or DJ directly rather than through an
entertainment agency.

boutonniere for the groom, a specialty cake
for two, a bottle of champagne, a keepsake
wedding certificate and transportation for
the Bride and Groom. Prices vary by port
and are only available in select ports.
These basic wedding packages include up
to 25 guests and come at an approximate
starting cost of $1800 US plus the licensing
fees. The Bride and Groom can work with
the wedding coordinator to personalize their
wedding and reception with upgrades to the
