(2) Design assumes that sufficient negative reinforcement and long-term deflection reinforcement is available to meet design requirements. Contact Metal Dek Group Engineering for bar sizes and spacing. (3) Unless noted otherwise, span limits are based on shoring constraints. Shoring shall be placed at equal distances over length of span. Web crippling capacity increased 33% during construction phase loading per SDI Design Manual Pub. 31. Minimum shoring beam width = 4”. (4) Span limited due to service load requirements. Service stage span limits are based on a failure mode of the composite slab. Failure modes include deck yielding, concrete failure, shearbond and deflection. (5) Spans are based on two-span continuous slab design and shall be approximately equal length with the longer of the two adjacent spans not greater than the shorter by more than 20% (per ACI 318-02/ 8.3.3b). (6) Office unit span limits based on application of either a 2,000 LB concentrated load or 50 PSF LL + 20 PSF DL superimposed load. The concentrated load is distributed over a 2.5 FT x 2.5 FT area per IBC 2006. The concentrated load is distributed based on the methodology presented in the SDI Composite Deck Design Handbook. (7) Designs based on LRFD methodology. Construction phase load factors: 1.6 concrete, 1.4 equipment & workers, 1.2 deck. Construction equipment load of 20 PSF or 150 lb/ft width concentrated load from worker per SDI Design Manual Pub. 31. Composite phase load factors: 1.6 live load, 1.2 dead load (deck, concrete, superimposed DL). (8) Concrete properties: Density = 145 PCF, Compressive strength = 4,000 PSI. (9) Deflection limit: L/240 superimposed total load, L/360 superimposed live load (per IBC Table 1604.3). (10) Minimum end bearing width = 2”. Deck sections furnished with closed ends. (11) Temperature/ shrinkage reinforcement, full field: WWF 6x6 - W2.9 x W2.9.
