Recruitment Form 2013.14pics - North Hills Instrumental Music
The North Hills Marching Band
“THEE BAND OF PRIDE,
TRADITION, and EXCELLENCE”
Be a part of this year’s magic!
The North Hills Marching Band builds excellence by working hard, playing hard and
enjoying time together. Students love the marching band because of friendships they build
and experiences that the band provides. Parents love the marching band because of the
values students gain through the support of an amazing peer group. Here is how we do it:
We begin our year with Get Acquainted
Night, an opportunity for students and
parents interested in Marching Band to meet
current members of the band and to learn
more about our group. We follow this with
Rookie Nights where new members are
introduced to marching basics in a smaller,
more comfortable setting.
Summer Band is held on the Junior High
School campus. During this time, we review
the fundamentals of marching and music, and
begin to learn our shows for the new season.
Following a mid-summer break, our
preparations continue with Pre-Camp, a week of practices at the Junior High School. We
complete our summer activities with the most exciting week of the year, Band Camp at
Camp Kon-O-Kwee in Zelienople. In this beautiful setting, the band holds daily rehearsals
but also makes memories with fun activities, dances and other surprises. We return home
prepared for community performances such as Halloween, Veterans’ and Memorial Day
Parades and of course, North Hills Football under the lights of Martorelli Stadium!
The Marching Band season also includes exciting events
like the Kennywood Fall Fantasy Parade, the North
Hills Band Festival, Stadium Review and our annual
Band Banquet. And this year we head to Orlando,
Florida to march down Main Street in Disney World!!
Marching band is the largest group on the hilltop
because our students enjoy doing great things together.
To learn more ask any current band student!
We look forward to you being a part of another great year for
“Thee Band of Pride, Tradition, and Excellence”.
