Discover the dramatic history of

prosperity can be attributed to its strategic
location at the confluence of the Ohio and
Tennessee rivers. The River Heritage Museum,
a Save America's Treasures project, is housed
in downtown's oldest standing structure.

encompassing the Ohio, Te n n e s s e e ,
Cumberland and Mississippi rivers.

The variety of the houses of worship is evidence of one of the
many freedoms Americans share.

African-Americans carved out their own communities where they
owned their own homes, stores and businesses, went to school and
church and socialized. Although these neighborhoods were scattered
throughout the community, the majority of the black-owned businesses
