One of the wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal was commissioned in 1632 by the well known Mughal emperor
Shad Jahan (reigned 1628–1658) to house the tomb of his favorite wife of three, Mumtaz Mahal. Construction of
the mausoleum was completed in 1643, but work continued on other project phases for ten more years, employing
around 20,000 artisans. Widely recognized as “the jewel of Muslim art in India”, this symbol of love attracts 3 million visitors a year, and is not to be missed if one is in the area.

As Founder and CEO of Adventures in Art Karen Stone Talwar brings more than 25 years of experience in art
consultancy, marketing and brand development, solid management experience and a mature artistic sense.
Karen Stone Talwar was appointed the International Managing Director of Christie’s Travel between 2012 -November
2014 to establish and cultivate Christie’s Travel program combining art expertise with luxury travel throughout the
world; India, Art Basel Switzerland, Maastricht, Geneva, New York, China etc. Talwar has direct contact and knowledge
of the modern and contemporary art scene with her years of enriching experience and education at some of the most
prestigious institutions and galleries including Sotheby’s, Christie’s, Asia Society and Bodhi Art in New York, London,
Mumbai and Singapore. Today, Talwar travels extensively across the globe attending major art fairs and renewing old
relations and forging new ones.
Amanda Triossi
Amanda Triossi F.G.A. (Fellow Gemmological Association of GB) is a jewelry historian, consultant to luxury goods
companies and independent lecturer and author on the history of Western jewelry design.
Born and educated in Rome, she studied History of Art Cambridge University. From 1986 to 2000 she was associated
with Sotheby’s. In 1992 at Sotheby’s Institute in London, she initiated and set up the ‘Understanding Jewelry with
Amanda Triossi’ course, the first intensive course on the history of Western jewelry design, subsequently she has held
world-wide lectures and seminars on the history of jewelry design. From 1997 she has been a consultant for Bulgari
heading a project for the creation of the Bulgari Corporate Historical Archives in Rome. At the same time, as Curator,
she has worked closely with the Bulgari family to develop and increase the Bulgari Heritage Collection of jewels. From
2009 until 2013 she curated five major exhibitions on Bulgari in Rome, Paris, Beijing, Shanghai and San Francisco. She
has published extensively on the history of jewelry and on Bulgari.
