Four Mountaineers joined the Stanfield Elementary School team
for the 2014-15 school year. Mr. Mike Johnston, Miss Laina
Fairchild, Miss Kimberley Washburn, and Miss Laura Eddy all
completed their teaching licensure program at Eastern Oregon
University (EOU) in La Grande. Along with our four Mountaineers,
please welcome Mrs. Raible and Mrs. Shotts. At the Secondary
School there is one addition, Mr. Dominique Coffin. Mr. Coffin is
a graduate of Eastern Washington University (EWU).
Mr. Johnston is teaching 3rd grade. He is excited about having
his own classroom and providing a literacy rich environment for
students. This is Mr. Johnston’s second career and his experience
as a plumber will help him teach students real world applications for math. Mr.
Johnston completed his student teaching experience in 3 rd grade at Rocky
Heights in Hermiston. His approach to 3rd grade teaching is to guide students into
making meaning from every classroom experience.
Miss Fairchild graduated from EOU in June and is part of our Title I staff teaching
reading skills to students in grades K-6. She student taught in the Elgin School
District and is excited about her first teaching assignment in Stanfield. She enjoys
hiking and camping, running, traveling, spending time with friends and family,
and reading.
Miss Washburn graduated from Hermiston High School and is happy to be
working closer to home. She student taught and substituted in La Grande and is
teaching 1st grade at SES. During college Miss Washburn spent two summers
teaching English abroad in Italy and Austria. She loves being outdoors in the
mountains--snowboarding, backpacking/hiking, rock climbing, and rafting. She
also enjoys gardening, reading, baking and making crafts at home.
After student teaching at SES and three years of substitute teaching, Miss Eddy
was hired to teach 4th/5th grade at SES. She also graduated from EOU with
degrees in Multi-Disciplinary Studies, Modern Language and
Global Culture with a Spanish emphasis, and teaching. She
speaks Spanish fluently. Miss Eddy enjoys the outdoors,
spending time with family, and traveling.
Mrs. Raible is so excited to be part of the Stanfield school
community. She earned her master's degree at Portland
State University. In her constant pursuit of adding to her
teaching skills and keeping current in educational issues, she
is also currently working towards adding a reading
endorsement to her teaching license. In addition to her 18
years of experience in the preschool/
daycare field, she is in her 12th year as Continued on Page 3

Athletics Report
By Dominique Coffin, Athletic Director
Fall is here and that means that sports have started back up here
at Stanfield Secondary School. We have a lot to look forward to as
we start the fall sports season. Athletes in all sports have been
working hard all summer, in order to prepare for their upcoming
seasons. We also have a handful of new coaches that will be
coaching our teams this year. These coaches are very excited to
get their programs up and going and ready for their upcoming
seasons.
First off, for volleyball we have both head coach Lacey Sharp and
assistant coach Jodi Blake coming back to coach our Stanfield
High School team. At our middle school we have new head coach
Stephanie Hillman who brings a lot of coaching experience and
will be an awesome fit for our program.
Eric Jensen will be building up our cross country program, as he is
the head coach for this upcoming season. He will be coaching
both the high school girls’ and the boys’ teams along with the
middle school team.
Home football games will be promoted well again this year as
Coach Naomie Lemmon leads our cheerleaders for another
season. She looks to continue to rally the community spirit in
Stanfield.
Brad Rogers will be taking over as the head middle school football
coach. Brad has coached at the high school for a number of years.
He will be assisted by Don Walker who has been coaching the
middle school program now for a couple of years.
At the high school level we have new head coach Dominique
Coffin. He is very excited for the opportunity to lead the Tiger
football program. Dominique will be assisted this year by Pastor
Anaya, Davie Salas, and Derek Monkus.
After the success our teams have seen in the past couple of
seasons, they look forward to continue the tradition. Come on
out and support your Stanfield Tigers! GO TIGERS!
