WYNDHAM VACATION RESORTS ASIA PACIFIC
Welcome to YOUR Spring Edition of Destinations!
The past few months have been very exciting for Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia
Pacific, Wyndham Hotel Group and WorldMark South Pacific Club by Wyndham.
Recently, I was delighted to announce the acquisition of the management rights of a brand
new, 192 apartment hotel in Surfers Paradise, on Queensland’s Gold Coast, Wyndham
Hotel Surfers Paradise. This is Wyndham Hotel Group’s first Wyndham branded hotel in
Australia, with apartments available to WorldMark South Pacific Club Owners.
Within easy walking distance to both the beach and Surfers Paradise shops and
restaurants, I have no doubt this resort will be extremely popular among our
WorldMark Owners - not just for its central position, but for its fantastic facilities and
well appointed one and two-bedroom apartments. You can view all the details and
book online at www.worldmarksp.com
Added to this news is the introduction of a further two Associate Resorts, Ramada
Hervey Bay in Queensland and Swiss-Belhotel Golden Sands Resort and Spa, Hoi An,
Vietnam. Hervey Bay continues to be a popular destination for Owners, offering easy
access to beautiful beaches, restaurants and bars and is the perfect base to explore the
natural wonders of Queensland’s Fraser Coast. The addition of an Associate Resort in
Vietnam expands the destinations in Asia available to Privileges by Wyndham members.
You can read all about these terrific new Associate Resorts on pages 6 - 7.
In July more than 150 guests celebrated Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific
Wanaka’s official opening. Guests included WorldMark Owners, representatives from
New Zealand’s business and tourism community and members of the 2010 NZ Winter
Olympic team. It was a magical evening of festivities and Rafters Restaurant did a
wonderful job serving an impressive array of cuisine, which showcased the fantastic
produce and wine available to them in the Otago region.
Everyone who attended was extremely impressed by the resort facilities and I can
personally recommend staying in a Presidential Suite in Wanaka. The Presidential
Suite comfortably accommodates two families - perfect for entertaining family and
friends or for that special occasion. The close proximity of Wyndham Wanaka to the
Cardrona and Treble Cone Ski Fields, Lake Wanaka and the spectacular natural surrounds
of the Southern Alps makes Wyndham Wanaka a very unique resort, which I am very
proud and excited to have in our collection. During my holidays we thoroughly enjoyed
our days spent skiing while enjoying terrific cuisine at Rafters Restaurant and Bar in the
evenings. All year round, Wanaka is a sensational destination and, in my opinion should be
on everyone’s ‘must do’ list.
Speaking of fantastic food, I am pleased to announce that Wyndham Vacation Resorts
Asia Pacific is a proud partner of the Electrolux Appetite for Excellence Awards 2010,
an award program for young Australian chefs, restaurateurs and hospitality staff.
Co-founder of Appetite for Excellence is Celebrity Chef, Luke Mangan of MasterChef
fame. On page 22 we take 15 minutes with Luke who gives us some great tips for
cooking while on holiday.
There’s plenty more inside this issue of Destinations, and your Club just keeps getting
bigger and better, so sit back relax and start planning your next WorldMark adventure!
Best wishes,

Letter of the Month:
My partner and I always planned our retirement to include owning
a small coastal holiday retreat. That was until 2006 when we were
introduced to the WorldMark South Pacific Club by Wyndham. A
current Owner put our name forward in the Friend’s First program
and we accepted the invitation to attend a sales presentation.
With Vacation Credits to buy time in quality resorts around the
South Pacific and beyond, plus affiliation with ICE Gallery and RCI
to make holidays even more varied and exciting, it made absolutely
good sense for us to become Owners.
Since 2006 we have upgraded from our modest initial Vacation
Credit purchase through the Privileges by Wyndham program to
Diamond tier. At the same time we have enjoyed long and short
stays all over Australia as well as Whistler, Vancouver and Fiji. We
have also had three international cruise holidays and traded some
Vacation Credits for a campervan in New Zealand.
We have booked online a short break at Wyndham Vacation
Resorts Asia Pacific Coffs Harbour (Treetops) - (pictured below)
for November and a week at the Swiss-Belhotel Bay View Nusa
Dua, Bali in February. We have also confirmed our skiing holiday in
Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific Wanaka.
It is just so easy and we don’t have to do our own maintenance,
which we would have to do if we bought a small holiday house.
Being a WorldMark South Pacific Club Owner is a no-brainer for us.
Thank you to our friends for referring us and thank you Wyndham
Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific.

We have just returned from a stay at Wyndham Vacation Resorts
Asia Pacific Dunsborough, where we hired a car and had a great
time taking in the sites and wineries. We travelled all the way down
to Cape Leeuwin and marveled at the bravery of young Jessica

WA before and will definitely go back again.

If your man is a surfer then for much of his day his mind is probably
filled with images of peeling perfect breaks and thoughts of what
his life might be like when he makes it to the pro circuit … even if he
did just turn 65! So a surf safari to the world famous surf breaks of
Margaret River is sure to appeal. To a die hard surfer very few things

with a few good mates beside him. Spring in the Margaret River brings
some of the best and most consistent swells, so now is the time to go!
If he is not a surfer chances are he may secretly have always seen
himself as a buff Patrick Swayze in Point Break and so a surfing lesson
may be just what he needs to fulfil this fantasy. If he’s not the athletic
type at all, then Margaret River gives one the opportunity to simply sip
wine and nibble cheese all day and not so much as break a sweat.

CELEBRITY CHEF
LUKE MANGAN
As one of Australia’s leading
celebrity chefs, Luke Mangan is
no stranger to travel.
Internationally recognised for his culinary talents, Luke is the
first class chef for Virgin America and is often called upon
by Sir Richard Branson for his private events and functions.
Luke also owns and operates a number of award-winning
restaurants both within Australia and abroad, including
Sydney’s Glass Brasserie, Salt and the adjoining World
Wine Bar in Tokyo and South Food and Wine Bar in San
Francisco. Luke is the co-founder of the Electrolux Appetite
for Excellence national restaurant awards program of which
Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific is an official partner
for 2010.
So what does this well seasoned traveller and culinary wiz
like to cook while on holidays?
Cooking is all about the season, and the mood. Mostly when on
holiday, I like to kick back and relax with family or friends, so I
try to keep it simple, but I have to admit, the BBQ usually gets a
work out! There are some family favourites that always make an
appearance, but one of my approaches is to let the food or the
ingredients speak for themselves. If it is winter, I love a good steak
and fries with a glass of red wine, and in the warmer months fish,
done on the BBQ with a salad. These all remind me of holidays,
where it’s all about relaxing, having fun and eating well.
Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific apartments are
primarily self-contained apartments with fully equipped
kitchens, which means WorldMark Owners and guests can
cook while they’re away. What tips do you have for cooking
simple but healthy food while on holidays?
The best thing about having a serviced apartment on holiday
is that it gives you the flexibility of cooking something that
you feel like when away, especially with young families. The
trick is to keep it simple, using just a few components, or
ingredients, which allow the flavours to stand out. Something
like a grilled piece of fish, with a cous cous salad … easy,
simple and quick! To liven up the fish, you can simply make
a crust with some herbs or by using mixed spices to give a
different flavour, with a squeeze of lime.
We have resorts in many great food destinations such as the
Margaret River region of Western Australia, Tasmania, Sydney
and Wanaka, New Zealand. What do you recommend to look
for to keep holiday meals exciting?
The great thing about going to a different region or area is
exploring what’s available either at farmers markets, food coops or local fish markets. It’s great to see what is available that
you may not have at home, and be inspired to do something a
little bit different. It’s all about asking the locals what they think
is the best way to use the produce. Sometimes talking to the
fisherman at the co-op may give you a great idea about how to
cook the local seafood.
Our guests often like to go out for the day or have a picnic in
one of the many beautiful places nearby to our resorts. Do
you have some suggestions for picnic food?
One of the most versatile things to take with you, I think, are
the ingredients for a wrap. Take some different ingredients with
you so you can make it on the day. Something sweet to finish
off like a custard tart can sometimes make the day seem that
much better.

Travelling the globe is an inspirational and eye-opening adventure,
introducing us to different cultures, vast scenery and unique experiences.
These moments are often captured with photographs but one WorldMark
South Pacific Club by Wyndham Owner used her inspiration in a unique way.
On a recent trip to South America, Privileges by Wyndham member Jenny
Wicks captured the serene beauty and exciting culture of the magnificent
country with her visual diary, consisting of sketches with pen and water
colour wash. The idea originated on an art tour of Italy. So inspired by the
idea, she decided to sketch her way around South America also.
Jenny travelled clockwise from Buenos Aires, Argentina to Rio de Janeiro,
Brazil on a 40 day cruise. From Argentina, she visited Chile, Peru, Ecuador
and Panama before arriving in Brazil.
With the breathtaking beauty of the Chilean Fjords and glaciers and the
world’s southern most town of Punta Arenas in Chile to the sprawling and
lively city of Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil and the lush Amazon Rainforest of
Peru, the country provides plenty of inspiration.
As well as the natural wonders, there are the fascinating archaeological sites
of Salaverry, the launch pad to the lost Inca city, Machu Picchu and Chan
Chan the city of palaces.
“I loved the Chilean Fjords with snow capped mountains, glaciers and
penguins, said Jenny.
“Peru’s capital, Lima, was fabulous with its museums and we paid a visit to
a famous private ranch and hacienda owned by a Peruvian family featuring
their skillful, high-stepping, beautiful Paso horses. The Salaverry Temple of
Sun and Moon and the city of Chan Chan were some of the many
memorable experiences.”
Another eye-opening experience was further north in Central America
on a journey through the Panama Canal heading from Ecuador to Brazil.
Describing it as an absolutely astounding site, Jenny toured through the
77km ship canal from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean.
You too can create your own unique travel experiences when you become
a Privileges by Wyndham member*. As a Diamond Privileges by Wyndham
member, Jenny has the opportunity to travel to many international
destinations and receive other exclusive benefits such as access to exclusive
Associate Resorts, discounts on accommodation and VIP check-in.

Credits!
When you became a WorldMark Owner the Vacation Credits you
purchased were deposited into your WorldMark account ready for
immediate use. Every year on the first day of your Anniversary Month
your WorldMark account is refreshed with the full amount of Vacation

but if you have not made a booking by the two-year expiry date, those
Credits disappear for good, so it is very important to make sure those
Credits do not go to waste.
Your Owner Services Team is dedicated to helping you get the most
out of your Ownership. Here are some helpful tips to make sure your
Credits never go to waste.
• Every month the Club sends out a Credit reminder email to all
WorldMark Owners whose Credits will expire within 60 days.
• A Credit reminder is also sent to WorldMark Owners by mail, at least
60 days prior to expiry of your Vacation Credits.
• The Owner Services Team will attempt to make contact with you in
the last 30 days prior to Credit expiry to help you make a booking.
• These emails and letters give WorldMark Owners tips on what to do
to use those Credits.
