We Welcome Randy Rothschiller to the Teeco Family President & CEO Randy comes to Teeco with 30 years experience in the Propane Industry. It all started with a neighbor across the street who worked for Cal Gas. Randy started working there as well, then moved to AmeriGas when they bought Cal Gas. He’s filled many roles during his time in the industry; Driver, Service Tech, Purchasing, and countless others. But he enjoys the mechanical side the most; troubleshooting and fixing things. It was an easy transition for Randy, coming to Teeco. He’s been a customer for many years, and worked with Jay Stephens, Teeco’s General Manager of Operations & Fabrication, as well as Jay’s father, Jim Stephens, during their Cal Gas and AmeriGas years. Outside of the industry he’s been a part of for most of his life, he enjoys sports, coaching Little League, camping, water skiing and dirt bike riding. Next time you’re visiting Teeco’s Sacramento, CA location, be sure to give Randy a warm welcome! NEW at T e & $$ Save Tim Regional Sales Manager, Rocky Mountains Dana Hall Operations Manager, Rapid City, SD Dean Travis The VENTUR-EVAC is designed BY propane people FOR the propane industry. Evacuating a propane tank has never been easier. With welded steel construction and weighing only 6 pounds, the VENTUR-EVAC is highly portable and easy to carry. The lightweight design and ease of use will render current evacuation methods obsolete. Reduce Labor Costs: Tank evacuations can now be performed by your delivery drivers while they are on their routes. By carrying the VENTUR-EVAC in the tool box of your bulk truck, additional service personnel are not required. Tank Overfills: Immediately remedy overfills by connecting the VENTUR-EVAC to remove excess gallons. No more calling back to the shop to dispatch service personnel for costly pump outs or flare offs. Gauge or Valve Repairs: Drivers can efficiently evacuate propane into the bulk truck for valve or gauge repairs while making normal deliveries. Tank Setting: Keep your two man tank setting crew on the move by utilizing the bulk truck to evacuate the current tank and fill the new tank set. Temporary Sets/Construction: When the time comes to pick up temporary tank sets, they will undoubtedly have too much propane remaining in the tank to transport. Dispatch one bulk truck and one driver to evacuate all of the temporary tanks to ready them for transport. Excess Flow: The VENTUR-EVAC will not activate the excess flow valve. Backcheck Valve: A backcheck valve stuck in the closed position can be remedied in seconds. Closing one ball valve reverses the flow of liquid, immediately unseating the backcheck valve. Current methods require costly disconnecting, and reconnecting to unseat. Aside from the Teeco fire of 1972, the singular event of the decade was the retirement of Mr. and Mrs. Tilden and the sale of Teeco to Mr. Leonard Andrews in 1976. The changing of the guard so to speak was a major point in Teeco’s history. The 1970’s drew to a close with the LP-Gas industry actively embroiled in vehicle conversions. This growing market created phenomenal demands for carburetion equipment and all the support equipment to build the necessary infra-structure. Teeco was experiencing the pains of growth, as were our customers. The need for additional distribution capacity was met with the acquisition and construction of a new 24,000 square foot warehouse in Auburn, Washington to replace the smaller Tukwila, Washington warehouse started in 1974. This along with a move to North Highlands, California from the San Francisco location provided the needed capacity to meet the growing requirement of the LP-Gas dealers. Teeco’s customer base was also changing during the 1980’s. National marketers were re-structuring and merging with one another to create even larger marketing companies. Many of these mergers resulted in the divestiture of non-related businesses acquired during the 1960’s. This generated another opportunity for Teeco in the form of the acquisition of Hill’s Gas and Appliance with warehouses in South Dakota. Teeco now had service facilities, sales and support staff to provide equipment and service to the eighteen Western United States. In 1989 came an additional opportunity for growth. Teeco acquired PACA, a major fabricator of trucks and equipment. With facilities in Sacramento, California it was very easy to meld our North Highland distribution facility with PACA. This created a most unique operating unit: Equipment distribution, truck/vehicle fabrication and service, dispenser fabrication, LP-Gas carburetion conversion and service, along with engineering and construction capabilities. All of this in a new 46,000 square foot building on seven-plus acres, a true LP-Gas support facility for the new century. (to be continued...) Special Thanks to John Parkhouse, retired Teeco employee, for sharing so many great old photos! Dad used TEECO beginning in the mid 70’s after he and mother bought out the old Shell Oil jobber here in Ramona. We had a cylinder-exchange business and he insisted on using only TEECO for supplies. 40 years later, I’m still on the grounds and still using your products. Congrats on 70 Years of quality service!
