HISTORY OF BARDAHL
BARDAHL’S ADDITIVES
Ole Bardahl has been winning motor sport races with planes, boats, cars,
and motorcycles since 1939. Ole Bardahl had an idea that revolutionized
and expanded lubricant and equipment design technology. Ole realized
that the use of additive chemistry could provide a protective layer
that would resist removal and prevent wear under the most severe of
circumstances.
Lubricants are normally splashed, sprayed or pumped between load
bearing surfaces. But oil by itself will drain away from microscopic peaks
and valleys (asperities) resulting in increased friction and wear. Ordinary
lubricants and oils cannot adequately protect engines and industrial
equipment.
Ole Bardahl’s development of the “Polar Attraction” formula changed the
way lubricants were formulated. The original “Polar Attraction” formula
bonded with load bearing surfaces to protect them against friction and
wear, even under the most severe operating conditions. Since its development Bardahl has been
working to improve and refine the “Polar Attraction” formula with developments such as the use of
“Fullerene” chemistry to reduce friction even further.
The television commercial that brought
Bardahl to huge success was a black
and white animation about the four main
enemies of automobile engines, namely
Dirty Sludge, Blackie Carbon, Gummy
Rings, and Sticky Valves. These four
characters were named The Grime Gang. They were shown to be ruining engines
until Bardahl showed up. Henceforth, all of them ran away as fast as they could.
BARDAHL’S FULLERENE C60
Fullerene is the third known form of stable carbon, besides diamond and
graphite. BARDAHL is the first company in the world to apply the fullerene
chemistry to the sector of lubricants, thus exploiting the fact that the fullerene
spheres work like real micro-ball bearings, non-deformable and extremely
stable: they interpose between contacting surfaces and
reduce friction in their movement.

Bardahl scientists successfully
eliminated
the
problem
of
unprotected metal surface by
carefully formulating a special
additive known as Polar Attraction.
It fastens to metal and stays in
place because the basic molecule
used is a large one with a polar end
group. Polar Attraction chemistry

ENGINE TUNE-UP AND FLUSH
A concentrated blend of solvents, cleaners and the Polar Plus formula. This
product is added into the crankcase engine oil prior to a oil change.
Modern motor oils are formulated with detergent/dispersant additives to control
the formation of deposits. Extended oil drains and typical urban driving conditions
often overwhelm the oil’s ability to prevent and control deposits. Stop-and-go
driving, short trips cause an increase in varnish, gum and sludge deposits in an
engine. Bardahl’s Engine Tune-up and Flush will remove existing gum, varnish
and sludge deposits from engine parts. Its performance is demonstrated in field
and laboratory testing.
