Jim Harvey, Worker Protection Standard Specialist
This session will walk you through the provisions of the newly revised EPA’s Worker Protection
Standard. Make sure that you know what is expected of growers who hire employees outside
of the immediate family within 30 days after your last restricted entry interval expired. For
those who only hire within the family and will be exempt from most of these responsibilities,
there are still advantages to incorporating WPS concepts for your family farm safety.
About Crystal Spring Tree Farm
The Botek family has been in the Christmas tree business for over 75 years. They began
selling trees at a small family-run grocery store in the mid-1930s and have grown the
business to offering about 15 varieties of evergreen trees from their nearly 200 acre farm.
Trees from Crystal Spring Tree Farm have decorated Rockefeller Center in New York City
and the White House several times. They have also had the honor of supplying
Pennsylvania capitol trees in Harrisburg for many years.
