The environmental technician plays a very important role in
keeping our environment and workplaces safe from hazardous materials, pollutants and general safety hazards. The
Bureau of Labor Statistics describes the nature of the work
involved with environmental technology wherein workers
will be needed to help regulate waste products; to collect
air, water, and soil samples for measuring levels of pollutants;
to monitor compliance with environmental regulations; and
to clean up contaminated sites.
In the working environment, job tasks may include inspecting and maintaining equipment related to air pollution and
recycling or inspecting wastewater treatment systems to
ensure that pollution control requirements are met.
