We believe that architecture should exhibit the three Vitruvian
qualities of firmitas, utilitas, venustas – that is, it must be solid,
useful, beautiful. But we can’t forget one last attribute: MESURA; it
must show honesty and moderation. Architecture should respect its
context and the surroundings it is set in and it must learn from its heritage and from tradition. Only then, perhaps, by following a rigorous
methodology and searching for an appropriate rhythm…

In MESURA we know for certain that our main asset is our hard work.
We must excel in our customer service and, what is more, we must
also contribute to improving society in the same way. To meet this
ambitious responsibility we carry two banners: consistency and organization.
Research, innovation and work
Our framework is based on our commitment as a team while
keeping the big picture in mind. MESURA understands that research,
innovation and work are crucial to finding the right answers for new
demands. The desire to excel, the collective knowledge, the professional expertise together with our commitment to people and the land
they live in have driven our work from the beginning.
To obtain a model of responsible development we believe it
is essential to incorporate sustainability criteria in the fields of architecture and construction. We seek to bring architecture to mankind to
create a genuine and rooted place in history. We stand for the humanization of public and private spaces, prioritizing the constructive process. Sustainable development is development that meets the needs
of the present without compromising the ability of future generations
to meet their own needs.
Our main aim is to create an utterly
contemporary architecture that is committed to the responsible and sustainable use of
natural resources.
This architecture follows its own work process and methodology which deliberately prevents it from developing a fixed style or
formalism. Each project is unique; and for each project we must focus
on the unique society of our clients as a reference point.
Armed with dedication, service, complicity and enthusiasm,
we seek to provide solutions that are tailored to the initial needs and
aspirations of our customers. Our way of working is defined by our
ability to reinvent ourselves, to approach people and to seek new
proposals contrasting ideas. We want to question ourselves on how
to inhabit the city and on how architecture can act as a catalyzer of
modern social relations.
Our search for constant innovation has led us to open a new
line of work: Mesura Think Tank. This has allowed us to build up the
early stages of development, where architecture and engineering
come together. The Mesura Think Tank allows us to obtain answers
that are better suited to the needs of each client.
The MESURA team ensures the quality of each project by
paying special attention to the construction process. To ensure the
proper execution of each project, MESURA relies on twenty architects
and coworkers in its offices of Barcelona, Istanbul and Riyadh.

The Team
Our team is led by the five Partners of MESURA.
The company also works with a very diverse group of professionals which includes architects, industrial engineers, construction
engineers, graphic designers, and also landscapers. All these professionals are constantly training to keep up with the state of the art
techniques, which allow them to approach each project from a cutting
edge outlook on constructive solutions, sustainability and new developments in order to respect the environment, while not forgetting the
latest trends.
Although the firm competes with big international companies, the
compact nature of MESURA allows us to be directly in contact with
our partners, offering the best service. We have a team dedicated
to each project that is flexible to the needs of each client. Even if the
firm is simultaneously working on multiple complex projects, there will
always be a Partner to lead each one.
Our firm is based in Barcelona (Spain), the city in which it
was created and where its partners have their roots. Working in this
city positively and actively influences our vision and provides the basis of our creative process and a model to follow.
Although MESURA is a local company, it has an international
goal. This is why the firm is present today in Croatia, Turkey and Saudi
Arabia. The structure of MESURA is designed to maintain a constant
flow of communication between the offices in these countries throughout the entire design process. The executive management team of
MESURA is made up of its Partners and seasoned individuals called
Associate Directors who are responsible for each of the four international delegations. Each of them has a great professional experience and fully shares the vision of MESURA. The Associate Directors
are also directly responsible for the relationship with the customers
in each country, as well as being responsible for supervising and
leading the work of the local professionals from the beginning of the
project until its conclusion.
The design board meets regularly to
monitor the progress of each project and to
ensure that the quality and excellence are
being maintained.
These meetings also serve to enhance each of the projects
with feedback from each other, and to learn from the insight and
collective experience of the firm. The technical team includes project/
team managers, architectural assistants and specific consultants. In
addition, the company relies on a valuable team offering administrative, financial, communication and design expertise.

How we Work
Our work has led us to be involved in many projects for various uses. We have worked to build offices, stores, hotels, industrial
and residential buildings… we have also carried out many rehabilitation works and designed, town planning, etc.
Our day to day work is driven by our
commitment towards our customers.
The mission is to create living spaces that are in harmony
with their environment. We want to generate an intelligent architecture
based on both criteria of sustainability and energy efficiency, as well
as resource optimization during construction.
One of the main features of MESURA is that is uses a model of GLOBAL ARCHITECTURE for carrying out all phases of the
construction process: Design, Project, Organization and Construction
Management. This model also covers ever step from consulting to
planning, development and management of all different types of large
and complex projects. In recent years we have strived to exercise a
careful cost control and to delve into materials research.
We strive to offer a quick response to the different needs
of each individual company and we do our best to offer solutions by
means of a direct, personalized and specialized treatment.
We work hard to maintain precision and rigor and to respect
deadlines. Our seasoned team generates all the technical and legal
documents required for the contracting and construction of the project.

The Technical Projects are a series of documents that are
necessary to define in a precise, measurable and enforceable manner the work to be performed, in accordance with the objectives set
out in the Preliminary Report.
In the process of carrying out the construction project we
develop all the necessary Technical Projects. We reach an agreement
with the owners of the property and ratify the previous report to meet
the legal requirements (licensing) and the technical definition to contract and build the project.
In each phase of the project we are committed to developing
the architecture and engineering of structures and facilities. At each
stage of the project we strive to meet the requirements of the different
compulsory regulations, as well as the technical and economic requirements and the agreed deadlines.
We do our best to obtain a rigorous
definition of customer requirements to allow
us to contemplate a real objective, with a
technical and economic feasibility definition
established in an estimate.
When creating the project the following phases are performed: Previous Study (PS)/Concept Design (CD), Draft (D), Basic
Project, Project Activity, Project Execution (PE), P. Implementation:.
Each phase will rely on the agreements established in the previous
document.

Architecture
In MESURA we believe that architecture is
an opportunity to transform our world from
a material, conceptual and sociological
point of view.
Buildings and spaces are designed to improve the daily
lives of the people that inhabit them and to respond to the broader
needs and expectations of the communities where they are located.
To achieve this, we are inspired by architectural influences from
around the world that share the enthusiasm for emphasizing the
value of the location and identity of each site.
All projects share a respect for the place where they are located and the desire to understand the nature of these locations in
depth. Each new building seeks a proper use of materials and sustainable building solutions that respect the environment; this concern is
not only for nature, but also for the protection of the social and economic structures. The bedrock of our professional practice is research,
based on the work of its Partners in the academia. Our partners often
take part in conferences, juries and international competitions, always
with the aim of promoting contemporary architecture rooted in the legacy and context, whatever the scale.

MESURA would like to be seen and understood as an attitude model for future generations.
We constantly take part in exhibitions,
conferences, congresses and publish in the
media. Research is a vital part of the company, since it defines the creative process upon
which each of the projects is later based.
Each project has its own rules when it come to design, and
it is through research that a space for reflection (and internal debate)
can be created, allowing us to connect the dots of these rules. It is
precisely this philosophy that allows us to tackle complex projects
with the confidence to be able to offer an up-to-date answer, as well
as guaranties for its validity in the future.
MESURA also has a strong presence in the academic world.
This helps to improve our daily practice and keeps us in touch with the
latest ideas and leading University professionals. Our Partners hold
positions in the Head Office of the Escuela de Arquitectura de Barcelona (School of Architecture of Barcelona), in Advanced Master’s degrees and currently teach in some of the most prestigious universities
in USA and China.

inhabiting it and, above all, it can make them feel emotions.
MESURA has developed various residential
projects like apartment buildings and several single-detached dwellings. For these designs we have
been guided by the search for comfort and control
over the scale to complete the proposed program.
A model of action for each living accommodations.
The single-family detached home (villa) has received
special attention because it represents the ultimate
bespoke design.
When it comes to designing and building domestic
areas for residential projects the standards of MESURA
are very high. The development and design of hotels
requires a complex coordination of a team of experts.
MESURA has developed a wide range of projects,
from urban models to large resorts. The complexity of
the program, knowing each operators standards and
criteria towards conservation and maintenance become are the starting point when designing any hotel
project.

Public buildings are a great opportunity for
architects to show the world what they are capable
of. But before that, and among every other thing, it is
an immense responsibility for both the architect and
the client to both becoming relevant for the city and to
changing people’s life.
Winners of multiple awards such as Europan
(for the transformation of the city of Dubrovnik-Croatia,
UNESCO World Heritage), and Best Museum in Europe (for the Cosmo Caixa), they are influential in a
variety of forums.
The ability to lead the whole project (from the first
sketch to the last construction detail) is important even
in the case MESURA is not in charge of the whole project. The capacity to understand the big picture is the
key for a design that is not only outstanding, but also
clever.
MESURA has been appointed for some of the most
significant projects in first class cities all around Europe. It embraces a strong relation and influence with

MESURA’s vision is based on the pursuit of
multiple interpretations of civic experience. Urban architecture is always limited by the complexity of Human Scale, which may be opposed (or in conjunction)
with the forces of topography, geography, and climate. At the heart of our professional practice is our will to
enhance the uniqueness and celebrate the difference
when facing new projects; be it a school, a campus,
the regeneration of an industrial fabric or a city from
scratch.
We do our best to avoid rigid and overt thoughts as well as agendas imposed by third parties.
Furthermore, we try to promote the transition between
tissues and the opportunity to capture memory and
meaning; i.e. the changing values that constitute the
organic quality that makes the city a constantly changing organism. The cornerstone of our methodology is
MESURA’s ability to navigate between multiple forms of
knowledge, be it science, engineering, environment,
the arts or civil society.
